I agree with the other reviewers that this was like eating at Grandmas. The place is so quaint and nicely decorated. Our server was Marco and he was so friendly and attentive. I had the Pollo Griglia and hubby had the Linguine Del Mare. My chicken was so moist and flavorful. I was glad I had the spinach and not a pasta so I was able to really enjoy my meal without getting too full. Hubby really enjoyed his Linguine. Plenty of little clams and shrimp, which he loves. We each had a glass of wine and we were served complimentary rolls and butter. The portions weren't huge so we had room for dessert. I just had to have the cannolis and I was not disappointed. Hubby had the Torta Al Cioccolato which was delicious and very rich. Overall the price wasn't too bad. Wine always drives up the price of a dinner tab. I stopped in for lunch on the 4th of July, while taking in the sights of downtown Brenham. Very warm and classy restaurant. Feels like you're eating at home. The music, however, was a little loud for me, and did kill the ambience a bit. I would recommend playing something a little more subtle and instrumental, or go with music like Sinatra and Dean Martin for the romantic feel. The food was pretty good. I ordered the chicken cacciatore and a glass of iced tea. It came with a side of spinach tossed in garlic and olive oil, their house salad and warm bread. I like that they served the chicken with the spinach, because with a lot of restaurants that I've ordered the same dish at, they will just load you up with pasta so they can charge more. Now, I love pasta as much as the next paying customer, but I feel that it takes more bravery to not use pasta as a crutch. The stereotypical idea here in America that native Italians eat pasta with absolutely everything is not necessarily true, because Italian food has a lot to do with balance. Chicken cacciatore is typically a hearty hunter's dish. I think the name even translates into that. If I was to eat pasta with it, my stomach would be hurting by the time I left the restaurant, because it would be too much. Props given for that. The entree itself was tasty. Much reminiscent of what I remember a cacciatore being. The house salad and bread were solid. The staff were also friendly as well. All in all, I would come back here and eat again. What a neat find. This Italian rest. Is in an old 2 story house located in this Brenham neighborhood. The parking is across the street but is so close just not marked as the parking. We were greeted right away & seated. Our visit was during the weeks at lunch time & Christmas season. The place was much larger inside & they were busy. The prices were very reasonable, only $12 for the Eggplant parm. The portions are smaller but that was ok so we didn't overeat. The entree came with salad & homemade rolls. We also had the chicken sandwich which was good & the flavored tea. We would definitely go back. They also sell imported cookies from Italy so we purchased the Cinnamon & Amaretto ones, both really good. read more

I prefer it with a little more breading, but it was still good. My main dish was the linguine with shrimp and clams, and it was very good (nice portion). Decided to try this popular Italian restaurant for dinner. It was a 40 minute wait for the walk in. The small parking lot filled up rapidly. Ordered the red snapper picata and the eggplant parmesan with wine. Elated to find a fish picata dish in this small town, it's usually chicken. The server looked like he had quite a long day but was upbeat, light a candle for us, served us bread. The salad came with the meal and there were a few rolls. The food was fresh and tasty. We ate, drank and paid up at this popular establishment in Brenham before the drive home at night. No leftovers. read more

Had a late work day, so came here for a dinner alone. Walked in at 8:35pm to a grumpy looking high school gal standing behind the podium who just looked at me. I told her "Table for one" at which time she said "Oh, well we close at nine", grabbed a menu, and irritably took me to a little table lol. The waitress, who also seemed upset to get a "late" table, took my order, served my salad and then chicken parm, and I was done eating by 8:52pm (yes, I looked). And then I waited.... and waited.... and at 9:10pm my waitress reappeared, clearly haven forgotten about me. Several tables were still full in the dining room, with the 4 top next to me needing to finish a couple open bottles of wine, and amazingly the little time-keeping hostess wasn't ushering them out. If you don't want to sit people after a certain time then say that, I can read your hours on yelp (which is how I found the restaurant in the first place as I'm here from out of town), take down the open sign on the front door or be prepared to happily take me to my table no matter what time it is. Outside of that, this is a pretty nice fine-dining restaurant. Definitely a date-night kinda place. Salad was good, chicken was kinda dry inside but the crust and sauce was fine, fettuccine alfredo was good, bread was fine. Paid my bill with a 20% tip and headed to my hotel. So give them a try, as long as it's before like 8:00. Maybe even 7:45 if you want to slowly enjoy your food and drinks, don't want to upset the staff y'all read more

Wonderful little restaurant hidden down past main st Brenham. My husband and I came here in New Years Eve to celebrate our 20 years together. Yes we had to have reservations, especially on this day. We were seated right away. They did not have their full menu for the holiday and it makes sense. However I would have loved some simple pasta with my bottle of wine. I got the ribeye special and it was cooked to perfection. The salad dressed with their house vinaigrette was another great addition. First visit, been wanting to try this place so finally made it. As usual starting with the service. Simply 'Ok' but will give them some slack because everybody has a bad day on occasion. Even I was feeling a bit blah because of the very high pollen count today. On to the food which was the special of the day. A chicken breast with what looked like an Alfredo sauce that that's not what the waiter called it. It came with a side of pasta and marinara sauce so I skipped getting a plate of spaghetti which I usually do at Italian restaurants. My impressions where generally good. The chicken was good and cooked just right. My only complaint is that both sauces, alfredo and marinara where a bit watery. Maybe a bit more reduction is in order. Nonetheless I'll have to visit again trying another dish and maybe dessert next time. This did seem a good date location as well. read more

We are from NY and were visiting family when we had the opportunity to visit Volare last Friday evening. I will admit up front that we are quite particular with Italian restaurants and probably are a tough audience. Our party ordered a wide variety of items from the menu and each dish was delicious. We were thoroughly impressed with the food. We were doubly impressed by our excellent server Seth. He was polite, attentive, knowledgeable and charming. Went here after being told it was "one of the best authentic Italian" you could find outside of Italy. Good did not disappoint. We had the fondue as an appetizer and the chef's special for our main entree - it was a beef tenderloin with shrimp covered in lobster sauce with butternut squash ravioli. It was great and cooked perfectly. It was a popular item since we got the last two for the evening. Please note that it is a very popular location and reservations are recommended especially if busy weekend evenings. We did not know about this and luckily our wait was only 30 minutes. I called in an order to go since I taken my dog to the vet. I ordered something that I have been wanting to try for a long time., Linguine Del Mare. I am unable to eat salad, so I requested an extra roll and four butters for the two rolls. When I picked up the order, the hostess was nice enough to bring it to my car, she proceeded to explain that she didn't charge me this time but the next time I was going to be charged .50 for the roll and $1 for each butter. Now the rolls usually come with one butter a piece, so I actually got two extra butters. These butters are not even as big as a pat of butter, probably half the size. I never asked not to be charged or to get the roll for free. This statement took me by surprise. When I got the dish home, there were five small clams and two fairly large shrimp on top. All the broth, which I heard was the best part, was all in the bottom of the carry out bag. The only reason I am writing this review is because as I was eating the pasta, didn't care for the clams, I bit into something hard and found broken clam shells in the pasta. I thought that the clams were put in whole and open as the cook. None of the clam shells on top of the dish were broken l, so where did the broken shells come from? After what the hostess said and the broken shells, I don't think I will be spending my hard earned money here anymore. The chef/owner appears more worried about charging for rolls and butter than breaking his patrons teeth by not checking for broken shells in your food. read more

Very cute house that has been converted to a restaurant. Bigger than it looked from the outside. Parking was tight, it was quite busy on a Friday night. We felt a bit underdressed as we'd been outside all day. But no one seemed to notice. Service was outstanding. It was nicely paced service. Not so fast you feel rushed and can't relax. Yet not so slow you wonder where your server is. The bread / rolls were just ok. The salads were perfect. Just enough. I had the chicken parm, with marinara pasta (comes with Alfredo pasta). It was some of the best chicken parm I have had. Very fresh and pan seared/fried. Super light breading and crisp. Fantastic sweet marinara sauce. And for the first time at an Italian restaurant, the chicken was the focus of the dish, meaning the amount of pasta on the dish didn't overtake the chicken. Maybe a small handful worth of pasta. It was perfect for me. My friend had the chicken Alfredo dish that came with mushrooms and broccoli (she held the broccoli). She said it was outstanding. Couldn't eat it all, so took it to go! But ate it all once back at the hotel room, about 30 min later! Kinda expensive. $16.99 for each dish. Highly recommend ! read more

I was incredibly impressed with this authentic Italian spot. We were guests of Rocking Star Ranch and the land proprietor suggested Volare. We took him up on the suggestion and boy was that a winner. We got the seafood linguini Del Mar, Tiramisu, calamari, and spaghetti with meatballs. The food quality was high and the the service was great. We were incredibly impressed. 4.5 stars. The only knock was the prep time. We got quotes 30-40 minutes and showed up at the 50 minute mark and were told they were out of our pasta and it would be 10-15 minutes. It happens but we had a yelling toddler in the car so we were hoping to fly in and out. Either way, we highly recommend this spot to casual diners and date night'ers alike. read more
