Tbh not dying to get back here. Found one thing. A jean jacket. Prices are pretty expensive for clothing and for their "vintage" furniture. The shoes are almost a joke, they just need to be thrown away some of them. The staff upfront was very kind. I just hate how they have their boutique section sooo overpriced for what it is. The jewelry especially the silver rings were actually priced very reasonable but they pull all the good stuff off the floor and mark it up big time in the back..no more hidden gems among the stuff. Thie used to be a great place for reasonable prices. I believe the new management is WAY overpricing items for a thrift store. Greed has no place in thrifting. Used to be my favorite Thrift store in San Diego by far, and have shopped there hundreds of times over the years. The last few times I was in, it was just shell shock at the prices. Older furniture was priced as a fine antique. Framed pictures were priced like fine art. I don't know what changed, but they should just change the branding to antique store, because it's not a thrift store anymore. I don't really bother to even stop there anymore. read more

I really like this store it feels very organized has clear sections. I specifically go in for pet finds. The prices are great and staff always greet when you walk in. There is always someone walking the floor and putting stuff out from what I've seen. I like that they have a 3 day return (for store credit) for appliances just in case you get home and the item doesn't work. They do also test the items before hand and the note it on a sticker. It would be hard to walk out of there with nothing! read more

Truly overpriced! I got excited when I saw there were plenty of jewelries to choose from, but then quickly realized they were overpriced. No wonder there's plenty, because no one was buying them. Not to mention the guy at the front counter today could improve customer service skills. I wanted to see jewelries and I had to wait in between customers to see them. He Would show me jewelry, but then customers would come and he would put jewelries back while I wait for the customers to finish. Then, it would be my turn again, repeat that process atleast 4 times! I don't know if they're volunteers because clearly they are short staff. One lady walked out as he refused to pull out a ring for her until I was done looking. read more

I went here at around 2pm and they said that they were closed already for item drop off. I said well can I just leave it here for later when you're open, as I had some good things I was dropping off as they could see, and they said as long as you leave them in those nice containers they're in. I said, "No thanks!" the heavy duty Rubbermaid containers are not part of the drop off. They said, ok nm then. So I left and went over to Goodwill instead which is right next door. Doesn't appear as much gets bought, prices are more comparable to that of an Antique Store/mall. Hundreds of frames, with about 70% of them priced over $50, furnishings pushing 500-$1000 is crazy for a thrift store, not to mention what used to be a nicely organized rooms in the back, have turned into seasonal retail leftovers being sold for retail prices. Most breakables are locked in glass cases, even when priced under $5 which makes zero sense. Clearly theft isn't an issue considering how overpriced and packed the store is. Have been shopping here for years and also worked in customer service for decades. I've noticed a steady decline in the customer service as well as the prices being outrageous here and this was the nail in the coffin. Bought a defective coffee maker and was told I could bring it back within 3 days. Did so and was given store credit for the cash I spent. Came in and finally found something to spend the credit on and was told it had expired by the manager. Not sure how cash expires but the manager was rude, defensive and unwilling to make an exception or give me the cash back for my original purchase despite it only being 45 days. Unlike other stores, thrifts are very hit and miss for items to buy. marina pozdnyahova should be put in another department of the company where she doesn't deal with the public or be a face of the store, she has no business working a customer service position. read more

Brother Benno's prices do not reflect the prices of a catholic mission. Stores like this are to be missions/assistance to the community. it would not surprise me if this thrift shop receives grants for providing services to the community. However, they do not provide services to the community as many of the prices are higher than buying new. When you have a profit margin at a nonprofit store, you should no longer be entitled to the grants or government monies that many other thrift stores are entitled to. It should also negate the status of their 501(c)(3). Many stores in other areas truly service the community by bringing quality and gently used product to the community at an affordable price. Brother Benno's unfortunately no longer does this. This is a recent change and I was disappointed to learn it. read more

The here furniture are the best I have seen in a thrift store, I have purchased so many pieces from Brother Benno's. Also the sales at the end of every month are great, usually 50% off of everything. RIDICULOUS OVERPRICED PRICES. This is supposed to be a THRIFT shop. I went in today and found a pair of lamps that were not priced. I saw similar items there priced at $15. I thought that would be a good deal for the lamp so I asked an associate to find out what the price was... I waited over a half an hour for him to come back. I had to go find someone to find him... Finally, he came back out and whoever the price person is or the "new supervisor" is... Came back and told me that the lamp is $50. WHAT, that's ridiculous. I tell him I will pay 25 but no more than that... I said there's another one here so he took the other one back and another 10 minutes went by. He came back and said the "new supervisor" said that they're 150 EACH now. WHAT???? this is a thrift shop not an antique store and it wasn't even worth 300 for the pair. It absolutely is ridiculous. I will never shop there again and I've been going there for years and years and have given them a lot they are soooooooooooo OVERPRICED. I spent 45 minutes for them to just come back and basically slap me in the face... They should've given me the lamp since I was the one who found it and it was their fault for not pricing it... shame on them. read more

This amazing Thrift Shop now working every day and longer hours! People who work can shop there at the evening or weekend! Very affordable prices for furniture and household goods. Adult clothes prices $4, $8 and $12, and sales items for $2 or $1. Kids clothes from 25 cents to $1, $3, $5 and $8. Lots of toys, books, games, puzzles. You can find everything there! This thrift store used to be one of the best in Oceanside! Within the last year upper management has changed, along with the quality of personnel and volunteers. Most of the helpful volunteers have quit due to new management practices. I don't understand why the Brother Bennos Foundation cannot see the difference new management has made, especially when it concerns the significant drop in the amount of funds contributed to help the homeless. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I was with my girlfriend and she bought a "fur" coat there after she was told multiple times it was real. We walked to the car and looked at the tag and realized it was in fact not real. I brought it back in for a refund and they wouldn't give it to me. The owner/manager told me that they didn't have the capabilities to give refunds and would need to ask IT... they had a Shopify POS system! I told them I actually knew how to do refunds on there and I heard every excuse under the sun! She just told me lie after lie to prevent giving me a refund. I told her I would just open up a chargeback and they'd lose the money and coat and that it would be so much simpler to give me a refund but she refused. Don't buy from here at all costs. They also have a fake Ronaldo jersey behind the counter for $250 which is also another travesty. I will never shop here again read more

Don't bother. Everyday prices are inflated in preparation for the sales they have. There are many rude employees that work here. I was examining a quilt when I was yelled at and told I must not open the bag the quilt was in. This is insane, who buys a used quilt without looking for holes, weird smells, stains, brand, or cheap fabric??! The policies at this store are ridiculous. I also overheard the employees swearing and bad mouthing a customer they "didn't like" so they were not holding the item they promised they would hold for the lady. As an avid thrifter this isn't cool. They don't want you to inspect, touch, smell, or even be in their shop. I put back the $20 blanket and my sister put back her $13 shirt because of the unwelcoming workers here. read more

Just got off the phone with a lady who works at the store. She was very rude and unprofessional. I asked her a simple question to figure out which days and times are available for donations and what kind of donations they accept. I have tons of donations to donate. She has the audacity to speak to me in a rude tone when all I wanted was clarification. I went to the Mission San Luis Rey but unfortunately they only take food donation, so they referred us here. Not baby friendly. Had a horrible first time experience. I have a 1 Year old and I forgot my stroller at home. All of their carts seemed to not have the seating for babies, which is upsetting but fine. I then saw two employees with the carts that did have a baby seat. I found an abandoned cart with the seat and proceeded to sit my baby and walk around the store. The tall blonde lady with a tan shirt and light wash jeans stopped me and told me it was her cart. I said "you need this cart, for hangers? There aren't anymore carts with baby seats is there anyway you can help me find one or let me use this?" She made me take my baby out of the seat and said there weren't anymore carts and she was sorry. Why couldn't she trade off if all she had were hangers. It was frustrating and very upsetting. I left the store immediately. You can't accommodate your customers?!! Don't have those carts at all if you're not going to have them for customers. I wish I had gotten her name, very rude woman you should work on your hospitality. read more

Review # 800 :) First visit here and to my surprise it was a 50% off day. Prices are above average for thrift, but these half off days are storewide and make value much better. So watch for these days. 50% off signage is put up in the parking lot on discount days. This is a busy place, and they are understaffed which makes it hard to get good customer service. Plus it's crowded and badly organized in places, especially up front where you wait for a register. I found some of the stuff here to be dated, out of style, especially the furniture and home decor. But my wife assured me their clothing selection is better. And the kiddies came away with a few very clean toys and books. Overall, it's got a cramped feel, but selection is decent and deals can be found for any diligent repurposer. read more

Prices at this store are incredibly high. They have Harbor Freight Tool products that are priced higher than Harbor Freight sells them for brand new. They had a used Keurig priced at $100... A new one sells for $80 at Walmart. I would recommend going to a different thrift store. The Goodwill next door has better prices. Also, the D.A.V. downtown has better prices and had a Keurig priced a $25. read more

This charity shop goes to a great cause. They often have an interesting selection of furniture at reasonable prices. If you are looking for a vintage vanity, rocking chair or dresser, it's worth a look. The clothes selection isn't high end but sometimes they have interesting dishes & glasses. read more

This place is the Mecca of thrift shops in the San Diego area. They have a huge selection of clothing that are hung up in a neatly manner AND organized by category and color. They're furniture selection is pretty amazing which is located in an entirely different room with a great selection.. (prices were a little high). As far as pricing goes for clothing, shoes, books, and other home appliances, it was pretty decent! And on Thursdays the entire store is 20%. Check this place out if you're in the area! read more
