Seriously limited without a food menu when Harry's across the block serves a huge variety of eats, AJs down the block offers fantastic beers and burgers, and a plenty of restaurant across the river provide quality options. Good luck parking now with Chauncy under construction. Specials seem average but stuck with a silly plastic tumbler required to present for the discounts. Brothers is that awkward alternative for cheap drinks. I personally will go for Town and Gown in most cases but timing my first, surprising I know, visit after a decade in the area worked a charm. My buddy and I found an empty and fun bar with one excellent staff member serving. She explained the tap options then we discovered my first pick was drained. Went for the classic Blue Moon, he did a cocktail on the Beach then Baltimore Zoo, surprising how different both were to other places same named drinks. I really don't understand the excitement some people have for this place. Drinks are more expensive than pretty much every dive bar in the area, music is so loud you can't hear yourself think or be able to speak to the bartender even if you're not in the upstairs "party area." they let so many people upstairs that you can't even figure out how to exit and it's not safe, and the bar tenders will sometimes ignore you and serve dudes who are in big frats before you. The 25 cent wing Wednesdays are a joke. You have to wait in line an hour for them to get them at a random window, and they're pretty terrible. They'll also randomly run out after you've been waiting for a while with no warning. Go across the bridge into Lafayette for a better experience. read more

Completely ineffective bouncers. Denied my REAL ID even though I had my student ID and two credit cards. Wouldn't let me talk to anyone else or even call the cops. I'm almost 22 now and this has never happened. Didn't do his job correctly either, seven people went in as he was talking to me. Clearly something is missing up there. It's ok though because brothers has the worst drinks of any bars on campus - they aren't strong enough and consuming that much sugary liquid just to get a little buzzed makes you feel bloated and gross. Went to Harry's instead where they have good bouncers with working eyes, friendly staff, and tasty + effective drinks that actually have alcohol in them. Furthermore, brothers is too crowded for no good reason, it usually smells bad, and it takes forever to get a drink. There has to be a better purpose for that building. Don't go here it's never worth it. Rather wait in Harry's line any day of the week. read more

I've been going to brothers for 5+ years bringing any friend that comes to town to, however this visit I was stopped by a "bouncer" who was dressed in camo short shorts a purdue shirt and a cowboy hat smoking a cigarette. this person told me he would check my ID outside while surrounded by multiple ppl he was currently talking to, like any random person on the street, he never once said he worked for brothers or showed any proof that he did and when I challenged him about it he said I wasn't allowed in and put his hands on me, which legally bouncers are not allowed to do he is supposed to call the cops if he has an issue. do not go here extremely violent and unfriendly read more

Came here for the UFC 223 fight last weekend and had an OK time. The ambiance of the bar is pretty standard fare. We found a couple of tables near the back that were near the UFC TVs and set up shop there. The fight was definitely not emphasized (no sound, lots of other sports being shown on the other TVs), but at least they were showing it :) We ordered a bunch of different food (kitchen opened at 9 PM!) and everything was decent. It was just basic bar food, but I've definitely had worse. With respect to the drinks, though, I did have a couple of complaints: 1) I didn't see any obvious beer menus anywhere, so I was kind of staring at the taps and trying to figure out what to order. Maybe I just missed the menu, but leading onto my second point... 2) The bartender who served me just seemed really pissed off the entire time. I asked him for recommendations (see point #1!) and while he did offer some ideas, he was not super friendly to say the least. Not a huge deal, I guess, and maybe just an off day, but I appreciate people being nice to me when I'm spending money at their establishment and being polite :) I could see myself coming back here (especially if they were showing more UFC!) but it probably wouldn't be my top choice. read more

Quality of bar is not the reason for this low review. In general, while this is Not as great (or maybe not associated with?) other Brothers locations, is over all a solid bar. Trivia night here is great- I recommend Tuesday nights. Also, if you are staying in the Union hotel or somewhere else close to campus, this place is a better experience than Harry's! An okay on Tap beer menu and a full bar... once inside, the service is pretty okay, but when walking in the people checking IDs are incredibly aggressive, rude, and (while I'm sure undergraduate students try and get in with a fake ID) are so overly cautious they are just......wrong. I got asked for a second form in such an accusatory way it made me (and my party) want to leave, and a friend of mine had both his valid drivers license and secondary form of Id confiscated. Only under threat of police intervention did the (bouncer's?) boss return them, and by that point I was really done with this location. I understand, and support, being stringent, but if the people responsible don't actually know what a legitimate ID looks like, then they aren't doing their job right. I really enjoy this bar, because it has a consistent stream of college kids, not townies that visit it. The specials are good, and so is the music and atmosphere at large. It also has super specials, like $2 pint night on Tuesdays, and Mason Jar Monday's. You can also always expect $1 o-bomb shots which are pretty fun. I actually happen to think Brothers is one of the best bars on Purdue's campus. Located on State Street next to other venues such as 308, Brothers is in a convenient location and easy to get to from most areas. Brothers runs good specials throughout the week, but I mostly go on the weekends. On Thursdays, their long islands are hard to beat. They are served in a giant pitcher, and they are easily one of the most enjoyable and cost-efficient drinks here. There are 21 flavors, but some of them I've found to be VERY sweet, so you may want to stick with the normal varieties. Their specialty shots also go on specialty pricing pretty regularly, but again, can be very sweet. They're a good deal though when you are looking for a drink to take as a group. Brothers can get pretty crowded, so I suggest getting there early if possible. On Thursdays, Cactus-goers will make their way up the hill eventually, so I highly recommend getting there before that crowd. In the cold, a wait outside is not the most fun, and the bars inside can quickly get backed up. There are two (well, technically three) floors and two bars at this location. The third floor is more of an indoor balcony of sorts. Seating is usually obtainable except for the most crowded of times. The atmosphere here is fun. It's fairly well-lit and there's always decent music playing, so it's a good choice to just go and hang out after a long week. I've never ordered food here, so I can't comment on that aspect. Overall, if you're looking for a bar experience on Purdue's campus, Brothers is a very good choice. read more

One reason and one reason only this bar gets my props - Wednesday nights. They have 10 cent wings that are amazing, and dollar high life bottles. (they also have a goof fishbowl deal too).... weekdays in general at brothers are great, its easy to get a table and there are TVs all over for watching sports. On the weekend it is a different story. This is a very narrow (but long) bar.... so it can be very hard to move around the place.... but once you find an open spot usually towards the back or upstairs its a pretty fun time. It can take a bit to get drinks because of this too... I have never had a credit card issue like stated in the other review... and I go here all the time, but I do know a couple friends that did (this was over a year and a half ago) before they changed their credit card policy. read more

Typical Big-10 campus bar. Came here with a group after being at Harry's for a while, and were enticed by the cheap pitchers of flavored Long Islands. We pretty much each got one for ourselves, which was likely more than we needed, but they were all delicious (the Root Beer one was my favorite). If you are looking for great drink specials and a familiar face, Brothers is the place. Brothers is mostly likely known as a place for all Greeks to hang out. Every day of the week is known for a different special- which is very nice for us money conscious college students. A few downfalls to Brothers is the time it takes to get a drink. If you aren't there before 10 pm expect a wait time of 20+ minutes to be served. And if its on a Wednesday get there even sooner. This bar is the slowest most horrible service bar I've ever been to. They bring your tables food out one person at a time and it takes probably 45 minutes to an hour each time. Make you you order more than one drink if you go at a time because you'll literally get 2-3 in 2 hours. read more

Tonight I decided that I hate this place more than I hate Stacks. And if I hate you more than I hate Stacks, that's REALLY bad as far as I'm concerned. The only people that come here are jocks, frat boys, and the girls that want to fuck them. The drinks are weak. Every weekend the place gets so packed that it take a half hour just to get around. The only night that I might even consider entertaining the thought of coming here is Wednesday when they have fishbowl night. Oh, and I don't recommend keeping a tab here. Pay with cash or immediately close out after paying with your card. One time I had a tab of $15 but they took $50 out of my bank account. They say they do it to "make sure the account is valid" but I think that's total bullshit. And yes, they do eventually correct it, but as far as I'm concerned, they should get it right the first time. read more

Not my favorite bar at Purdue. The drink prices weren't that great unless you go for the specials during the week. It's mostly frequented with douchey frat boys. On the weekends it's packed and it takes forever to get served. I also found the bartenders to be major-league assholes. It just wasn't a chill spot to go and relax while you had a couple beers. There aren't many seats so be prepared to stand all night. Like I said, it's crowded so don't plan on moving around too much. You have to find your 1'x1' square and just stand there while you talk to friends. In all, the drinks were over-priced and the experience rather dull. I would recommend trying the other bars first and only going here as a last resort. read more

It's become the spot for frat boys and sorority chicks to frequent since the yacht club closed down a few years ago. Not a bad place to go... I went on a Wednesday night and wasn't expecting to find a lot of people but I was very wrong since the place was very busy. Bar tender was very quick even though he wasn't very friendly but at least I had no problem getting my drinks quick.... The music is alright and they have huge TV's in the bar so you can watch a game while enjoying 1.50 for rum an coke; of course not captain morgan or Bacardi but it wasn't that bad for the price.
