My husband and I searched for weeks to find a landscaper to renovate our backyard and kept getting stood up. Antonio and Brother's Gonzalez Landscaping came HIGHLY recommended from a relative. We have a decent size backyard and needed the whole thing gutted and redone. Day 1 - We met with Antonio to show him our backyard and discuss what we wanted. Antonio provided a same day estimate and said he had a crew that could get started the next morning and that it would take one week to complete. Impressed with the cost estimate and timeline, we agreed to get started. Day 2 - Now we're seriously impressed! Antonio and team arrived at our residence bright and early with all the materials for the renovation and was able to get started without waking anyone up with construction noise. Day 3-6 - Antonio and his team arrived early every morning, never woke anyone in the house, treated our home and our family with respect, and kept us updated every step of the way. Antonio and his team renovated our entire backyard in 6 days! We went over their work with a fine toothed comb and everything is beyond perfect. Every paver cut with extreme precision, every block level, the turf flat and seamless! I kind of miss hearing the team laughing and singing in my backyard. Beware, do not do business with the Brothers Gonzalez. They took my money and only partially did the job. The part they did do was terrible, used materials and corners cut on every possible opportunity. They have my money and have not been back to finish the job. They are dishonest conmen. There is a reason they have a rating of an F on the Better Business Bureau. ----- This is up because you have our money, removed all materials and abandoned the job site. This is here to protect other people from falling victim to your business. People, read the other terrible reviews to see the trend of getting money and not completing jobs. Also, check out their Better Business Bureau grade, it is a F, the lowest possible rating!! Do you know what is uncomfortable when a worker is speaking Spanish, thinking we don't understand, saying vulgar things about and hurling racial slurs about the homeowner. Insulting our children with racial slurs and calling them half breeds. They are well aware of the disgraceful actions of their workers and have taken no action or issued any apology. When they were here they were carless, damaged my rv gate, destroying our front yard and several of our landscape plants and bushes. On to your reasons: 1. Kids were outside playing on an active job site. We repeatedly told you and your wife to put them inside, however you seemed careless. We had bobcats, trucks and machinery running. Our children were in the house or at school. When you asked us once if we could put the kids in our house we told you those are not our kids. 2. They were working and had to redo multiple steps of the project due to many change orders. (We typically charge for these as time and labor would've been wasted) There was no work or step that was completed, then had to be redone. 3. There was a gentleman with what they believed was a toy shovel/rake constantly getting in there way of working. We have big equipment to get job done fast. (Not sure if it was a neighbor or the homeowner) You know it was not the homeowner as I am the one who gave you cash. Can't say anything about this as this is the first, I have herd and I was at work until the evening. 4. They were being criticized on how they worked. With turf, seems are very likely to go in as turf only comes in 15 foot rolls. Our manufacturer don't sell them any wider. However we know how to make the seems disappear. The only interaction I had about the work being done is when I got home from work in the evening and asked why one section of turn is being pieced together in small pieces, when there is enough material to do it in one piece. The worker who cut the turf several feet short, in Spanish, insulted me and my family and hurled obscenities and racial slurs, loaded the job site material and left. 5. When have I been dishonest? I told you I'll be back later this week. The crew that was working there isn't willing to go back so waiting so another crew to finish a project . Your workers when it appeared were going to abandon the job site as they went on an obscene, racist rant and quickly grabbed all material into the truck over my question about the turf said no worries, they will get a whole piece and would be back tomorrow (yesterday) to finish never showed and you and the founders Gerardo and Gilberto all went unresponsive to all my texts and phone calls, this honest review is the only means by which you have responded to me, 6. Can you mention that I bought materials out of my pocket? Even before you even handed me a single dollar ? They why did you use my materials and used matterials? When they left the job site your workers even took several wheel barrels of rocks that I had brought in for my front yard. 7, I texted back saying I'll be back but your wife said your neighbors were going to help. My last texted message clearly is asking then if she wants me to finish project ? You never answered or returned a single one of my phone calls or texts. You texted my wife saying you were not coming and me and my neighbors should finish the project. The founders Gerardo and Gilberto both answered our call, but never returned a text or call into our inquiry as to why all material has been removed and no workers showed up to finish the half-done job. 8. I didn't give you guys a timeline on when I was going to finish so you can't expect this job to be done when you had in mind. Change orders happen and schedules change. You said the project would be finished yesterday. Instead of finishing, you took my money, all job site materials, my rocks, damaged my property and left. Again, for anyone looking for landscaping avoid the Brothers Gonzales at all costs, get your work done by reputable professionals. Updated review. After speaking to Antonio ( he was on vacation so there was a delay ) he explained in more detail on the installation of turf, rocks, irrigation. All the issues we had concerns with were addressed and corrected as of today and we are "very satisfied with our new backyard. Antonio did let us know upfront that he was going on vacation and when he got back he was going to have to play catch up. I told him I understand but I jumped the gun and really didn't give him time to address my concerns. Once he was able to explain the whole situation it made sense. He has taken care of all our concerns and we are back to good. He was never out to get over on us, he is a man of his word. We will be doing business again with Brothers Gonzales and will highly recommend his work. I cannot in good conscience recommend Brothers Gonzalez to anyone. My first mistake was relying on the popular review sites averages rather than checking their rating on the BBB. Based on decent internet reviews, I hired them to install a french drain in my yard, but regret that I had a negative experience with them. My overall experience includes: * The quote was received by text message only. I was told I would receive a written estimate, but I did not receive one. Reminded them several times, but still waiting. * The drain they attempted to install does not function properly because the end of the drain is 3 inches higher than the center, which per the laws of gravity, doesn't work. * They replaced my stepping stones and pavers crooked and wobbly (didn't use sand). * They agreed to come back and fix the issues, and I mistakenly paid them, trusting their word that they would come back and actually fix them (in the end, my really big mistake!) * They scheduled to come out and fix the issues twice, but they failed to show up both times (in which I took the day off from work to meet them). * Since cashing my check, they have only answered the phone once, and promised to come fix the issues the following week (in which they didn't show up). Now they will not answer my phone calls, return my voice messages, or answer my text messages, which makes me believe they are ghosting me. * I feel they ripped me off by not completing the job, and not sending a written estimate or a paid receipt. * I have requested over and over that they complete the job and fix the issues; or give a partial refund at least so I can hire someone to fix it, but they will not respond. I wonder if they have blocked my number from their cell phones. I regret hiring them. I have learned my lesson to always demand a written agreement before hiring and never pay until the job is 100% finished. read more

Overcharged a lot on sprinkler valve replacement. Paver repair work overcharged and it came up the next day. Fixed a larger pipe on our drip line. Started gushing again in the same spot less than two weeks later. Worse part, one of the valves they said they replaced and charged us $200 for a single valve, they never replaced it. Not only did they not replace it, but poor work damaged the two valves next to it and they had to be repaired. Bottom line - overcharge, poor workmanship, and dishonest. read more

Received the card on my door and called. They came and for a first-time clean-up, they charged $100.00. They were supposed to come back in two months. In that two-month time frame, they never returned. I called and texted several times. One individual said they would be at my place the next day, they never came. We have been using Brothers Gonzalez as our bi-monthly and monthly (in the winter) landscapers since we moved into our house in 2018. They have been consistant and always done a good job. If things have needed correcting, they have corrected in a timely fashion. We recently had them re-do our front yard (remove the grass/put in a pathway/add rock and new plants/planters) and it looks beautiful! We are very happy with the results. They provided digital renderings for us to look at in advance and they made changes to our exact specifications based on our notes. It was great to see a picture of what our yard would look like before pulling the trigger. The project itself took a little longer than anticipated based on the scheduling of the metal work/planting/etc. Overall, a small inconveinece to the excellent work that was done. They have been taking extra good care of our yard since this project. We have been using this company for years for tree trimming and they have always been reasonable and timely. Last March, Antonio came out to give us an estimate on redoing our backyard. We wanted to replace rock with turf. He came out and provided an estimate we could afford and the crew got to work and finished the entire job within the timeframe he promised. So, we've been using this team of landscapers for more than a few years, mostly for yard clean-up, palm tree trimming, pruning of vines, etc. Antonio is the guy - always responsive to texts or messages and getting his work crew organized and on the site as expected. This week I hired the crew to redo my backyard with pet friendly artificial turf. They started on Tuesday and finished on Thursday, a little clean-up on Friday - done and done!! Unfortunately, I had been using this company for almost a year when it came to trimming large trees, weeding, etc. At first they did an incredible job and guarenteed their services, so they even came back when the weeds did and sprayed again for free. Then. I needed a dead vine pulled out of my backyard and a new drip system put in. I asked him about the price ($600) which I though was much too high and he was not willing to budge. Due to our previous experiences together I decided to go with him again. The next day the vine was removed and he came to my house to collect partial payment in order to buy the parts over the weekend and would finish the job the following week. The first contact was very pleasant and they came out trying to charge me 500$ to fix my sprinkler system in which i provided them the error and where it needed to be fixed. After they arrived and did the work we settled on a $400 price for the fix. 2 days later my sprinklers come on and i notice dripper system in my yard up front and in the back yard, not spraying the full yard what so ever, not to mention they left all the left over cut pieces and sprinkler fittings just laying in my backyard, not very professional at all. I've attempted to reach them over the course of 3 weeks now and i'm not getting any resolution to my wasted $400 spent to have my system fixed. My husband and I just moved into a new house and NEEDED to do something about our backyard. We had contacted a few places, one was a no show after we set up three different meeting times and one place never bothered to call us back. We came home one day and found the Brother Gonzalez Landscaping card on our door. We decided to give them a call because they do a free estimate. They arrived earlier then they told us they would and spoke to us about our backyard. After we agreed on a design we set up another appointment to look at samples. They again showed up when they said they would and brought the samples. They are incredibly reasonable, polite, honest and hard working. They showed up on Monday morning and worked until Thursday afternoon and our backyard looks amazing! I could not be happier with the work and with their attention to detail. After reading some reviews on here, I realize that not all people in this industry are reliable. If you are looking for reliability, great work and reasonable prices I suggest you give them a call! Do not use this service. You will be thankful you didn't. If I could give less than one star I would. I attempted to use Brothers Gonzalez Landscaping after they left a card on my doorstep. The first time they came to my property and actually did the work they said they would do. I was home and was able to pay them after the work was completed. I had asled about being put on a monthly maintenance schedule and they agreed. A month rolled around and they had not showed up. When I called them to ask if they were coming they told me they forgot. (Great, I thought). They scheduled for the following day. That day I couldn't end up being at the house all day and so wasn't home at time of service. When I returned to the house they had already been here and did minimal work. They barely trimmed my front hedges and didn't even go into the backyard, as the did the first time. Worst part is, I had left a check for the service under the door mat. Well, they had no problem taking the check and cashing it immediately. I called to ask why the full service wasn't given and they promised they would come make it right. I've called 3 days in a row now and today I was hung up on by the person at the phone number listed on this yelp business page. When I called back I got a voicemail. I suppose I was too trusting they would do the work as they did the first time. I'm currently looking for a new landscaper that will bill me for payment. Awfully disappointing experience. read more

STAY AWAY! I called them and received a quote to remove the weeds the same day in the front and back yard at my house. It sounded like a decent amount so I told them to go ahead and they said I could leave a check for them to pick up the next day. When I got home, I noticed that only the back yard had been done. The front yard hadn't even been touched. I sent them a text message and explained this error and specified the front needed to be done as well or I would not leave the check for a total amount. They said they would do the front yard when they came to pick up the check the following day. When I got home that day, the front weeds had not been removed at all. ONLY sprayed this awful blue color that has not even killed them in the last 3 days!!! And sure enough, they took the check and cashed right away. I complained to them about this error and have not received any word back. Basically I was charged double just to have the back yard done. AWFUL! read more

STAY AWAY....If I could give a negative star rating I would. This company was hard to get in contact with and when I did they had a child taking their calls. Communication was terrible resulting in my final payment being hundreds of dollars more than the initial quote. My paver job is not level and they left a huge concrete mess. I eventually contacted Gilberto who removed the concrete mess but failed to correct the uneven pavers. They seem to hide behind the "God bless you" greeting, very unprofessional. I had the exact opposite experience. I spoke to Gilberto on the phone and everything seemed pleasant enough, we set up a meeting for the following day so he could come and inspect the place and give me a price. We'd been out of town for the summer visiting our parents as we do every summer as we are both teachers and don't work summers. You can imagine our place was pretty messy but he overcharged me by about $100 dollars it usually cost but I let it slide as I read the last positive review here and wanted a cleanup job fast. We agreed but he never showed up with the crew, and when I called Gilberto back to find out what happened he hung up in my face! These people are unprofessional, throw out "God bless you's" to get you to think they're decent but you don't make commitments and then don't show and hang up on people. Luckily Four Seasons landscaping was incredibly positive, professional, did a wonderful job, and cost about 125 dollars less- and were incredibly polite (you can find them on Angie's List). read more

I placed a call to Brothers Gonzalez Landscaping on Monday to have our yard cleaned up after the recent Monsoon. There guys came and and I showed them the yard and i wanted done. We negotiated a price and he advised me they would be back the next day at 7AM and would bring additional equipment to account for our artificial grass. Well the next morning came but they never did. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and finally at 5PM I called Gilberto to see if possible to reschedule but when I politely advised him that his guys hadn't showed up and I wanted to reschedule he just hung up . I tried to call back, again giving him the benefit of the doubt but, of course, I was greeted by his voicemail. It is obvious they only want simple work that they can charge excessively for and move on to the next job. It is no wonder they leave cards on your door since obviously they don't get good word of mouth referrals from customer. read more
