The open room mix of bar and restaurant just isn't appealing to me. It was busy when we where there for breakfast, the waitress was very nice but she was unable to give us the attention we needed. Took way too long to get us food and all hash browns where cold. The rest of the food was awesome. I will have to go agin. I did go agin and liked it better this time. The food was delicious!! served EC fast and friendly. However, the restaurant is disgusting! From the glass entry door covered in slimy hand prints and smears, to the floors, walls, bathrooms obviously never get wiped down beyond the seat, behind the bar the floor was filthy. I under that it's an older building but it definitely needs a good cleaning. Made us wonder what the kitchen looks like. Now we are all hoping we don't get sick. I have heard people rave about the breakfast here so we decided to pay them a visit. The place was packed but as fast as people came in, people were finishing their meals. Translation, no wait! It was a classic bar and grill layout with plenty of tables around the bar. The service is what you would expect with about a 10 minute wait for your food after order. However the group next to us was a group of 4 and they ordered at the same time, they waited 25 minutes. So maybe an area for growth! Food was warm and had good flavor. I had the sausage/cheese omelet and they certainly gave you your fill of cheese! My wife ordered the breakfast sandwich which was very good (I snuck a bite). Served on an English muffin. Muffin was a bit moist which could have been caused by a microwave cheese melt? Good never then less. As for the hash browns, they have not mastered the "thick" method. I would resist the extra cost next time. Noise level was reasonable as you could carry on a conversation at your table with no problem. I would certainly go back and recommend this place. read more

I came here for breakfast while passing through Rochester and I was super impressed with my meal. I had the French toast sandwich with bacon, ham and sausage. It was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. It was $9, so not cheap, but it was worth it. Also, the coffee was great, compared to most breakfast places. I also had a pancake, which was pretty good. The other food on the menu seemed like standard breakfast fare. Would love to go back. read more

I've never had a bad meal here! I mainly come for either Saturday breakfast, or a midweek lunch. I love their seasoned fries and the Rich's Bloody Mary! Service is decent, nothing that wow's me, but the wait staff is usually pretty attentive, and stops in to check on you and refill your beverages. My only complaint is the beer on tap wasn't very cold today. The bar scene here seems almost non existent these days. The last time I was here for it (which was within the past 6 months), my group of friends and I were the only ones here, and it was 9pm on a Saturday. Needless to say, we didn't stay for long. read more

This place is amazing! I liked it when the old owner ran it as things changed alot but my most recent visit was great! The new owners have done great things and have now made breakfast a all day thing wow that was great as we we're 10 mins past old cut off but not no more. We were greeted with Jacqueline and she was so happy and accommodating as we had ask for a small change to are order and she made it happen... I asked for a menu and a beer. i also asked if they had electronic tabs, he said yes and walked away. Took his time stocking coolers and didn't look back to see if I was ready to order after he finished. Watching the baseball game was more important. Helped a server with end of day report. Again after that didn't look at me. Helped another server with end of day report. Once again didn't check to see if I was ready. Helped other people while I sat there not even looking my way. Haven't been here in a while, but between this incarnation and the previous under past ownership, it has changed quite a bit, for the better! Nice upgraded TVs everywhere, and the place is super clean. Even as busy as it was, server was at my table within a minute of my sitting down, and a cup of coffee that actually tasted like coffee arrived shortly after. 30+ years ago the original kitchen staff wanted to do breakfast all day, and the owner kept shutting it down. Bad move, imo. The new owners went with the concept and I'm tickled! Breakfast is many people's favorite meal, myself included. Today I had the chicken fried steak with eggs and hash browns and it was a treat! I love this dish a it's my go to for breakfast, and I always hope it's not too spicy as I have some issues with spicy stuff, lotsa flavor and not bland. Eggs perfect and nice hot crispy hash browns. This is my favorite place to get breakfast in Rochester. Great selection of breakfast classics with some more obscure items to boot. The monte cristo is great if are feeling indulgent. I got a lot more than I was expecting and I got a great taste of the Rochester culture. There's lots of sports memorabilia hanging from the walls, clearly they are big MN fans. It's a divey sports bar that serves an extensive breakfast menu as well as lunch and dinner. They have lots of great sounding options on the menu. I chose the eggs Benedict. I got an amazing portion size. The hollandaise sauce flooded the entire dish in an awesome way. Hiding under the sauce were 2 eggs, ham, a toasted English muffin and hash browns. Lets just say two people could split this dish. The ham was incredibly thick cut, a borderline ham steak. I couldn't finish it all, it was so much and I can eat a lot. But went to this pretend sports bar, rife with standard definition TVs for a beer and some wings during a second round MN Wild playoff game and asked if the sound from the game could be turned on instead of the 90's soft rock that was playing and I was told that it would disturb the poker league. Wings were void of any buffalo sauce, dry as a bone. Been going there for 3 years and have observed a steady deterioration in service and quality. I would have drank more beer than all 12 of the octogenarian poker players that were sitting there but instead we relocated to an upscale bar in town that had cheaper beer, better food for less money and every single HD TV in the house playing the game with the volume at an appropriate level.
