After the ice storm of 2015, we had our roof replaced, and the roofers re-installed Gutter Helmet with roofing nails (too long and too many!) and left too much space between the GH and the gutters. Over the years, our gutters clogged with debris & bird nests. Our job: remove the GH, seal any nail holes, replace shingles as needed, clean out gutters/leaders, and install a gutter screening system. Brown Bros had recently done work for our neighbor, who was pleased, which confirmed online reviews. Will and Lisa were quick to respond to any of our requests or questions. I have never been the one to ever consider writing a review, but in this case, I would be derelict an a non-responsible member of my community. We had an emergency situation (Senior Moment) where a running kitchen faucet did considerable damage to the over-hang & insulation. Brown Brothers has done two projects on my house in the last few months. One was an extensive re-residing and repainting of the whole house. The other was a replacement of three old sections of my roof and removal of a no longer used brick chimney. They do a lot more than roofing. Their work was outstanding and their prices very fair. I hired Brown Brothers in 2014 to install my roof and a few years later called to complain about a leak. At that time, someone came out and determined leak was coming in from my old "siding" so we left it at that. 2023 I rehire Brown Brothers to install my siding, which was the worst decision ever. My siding job was not what I expected and their crew was horrible. During the job, my front porch glass door was shattered, my home cable system was cut, which they denied, but Xfinity confirmed. My roof is now leaking again and they are blaming my chimney installer. Brown Brothers will deny any wrong doing, and convinced me to remove s prior review, however, I want customers to be aware. I have filed a complaint with the attorney general's office, which can take months while a bucket in the attic catches the water from roof. You have been warned. read more

Hi Brown Bros Roofing, I want to say thank you for the great job you did on my gutters and repairing the huge leak I had on the side of my house. The two workers that came were fabulous, great sense of humor and neat. They worked early in the mornings, quiet most mornings, and stayed last most evenings. They entertained each other with jokes, quotes/sayings and conversation which they did not know this but I would stand at my window some days and I could hear them. Most of the days my husband would be working on his car in the yard and they were fascinated with his 1997 VW Jetta, with red seats.. My husband and his brother would chat with them once in a while not to disturb them but to compliment them on the work and to talk about his car. At the end of each day they cleaned up and were on their way. When they completed the entire job they cleaned up prefectly, and did a great job overall. I would recommend them for a roofing/gutter job anytime. I also text Mardy and Lisa to let them know that both workers, which I am sad I did not get their names were great!! I just wanted to make sure that my message was relayed to the two workers especially during the COVID-19 pandemic time. Risking your life to go to the homes of others. Brown Brother's completed our roof replacement and chimney rebuild after a tree fell on our house. There was more damage than the insurance quote was written for and Brown Bros. took pictures to show the need for additional work so the need could be proven to the insurance company. The work was down quickly and professionally. The night after the roof replacement we experienced an odd sound when the wind was blowing. They gave a proposal but did not do the work paid for. The roof leaked far worse AFTER they came than before. They did not return calls. I had to block my number on caller Id to get someone. He promised over and over to come and never did. One and a half years I chased them with no response. Finally went to licensing board to get some leverage. We called Brown Bros to come take a look at our roof because of a leak we've had during storms. Marty called me on Thursday, was here by Saturday, and gave me a clear action plan for how we could identify exactly where the problem was coming from (there were a couple possibilities). He was extremely professional with my wife and me, and clearly explained everything he was doing along the way. I also saw in some previous reviews that BBR has left places a mess...while he was inspecting, Marty was picking up nails that a previous contractor had left! Very kind. I hired Brown Brothers Roofing to repair my roof. Mardy Kozelian came out and not only gave an estimate, but took the time to look over the house and point out a few other things (e.g. a couple of joists in the attic that needed attention.) that needed attention without a sales pitch. I mentioned the water I was getting in the basement and he suggested I get some drywells, to which I said yes. All of the work was done quickly, with no mess whatsoever; and the pricing was very competitive. Lisa was also incredibly helpful and responsive throughout the whole process. This company is the worst. Had a roof done 12 years ago and have had issues with the shingles blowing off. "Under Warranty" they tell us when we call for repairs. Who cares about the warranty when you can't get them to come out and repair? First they say they'll send someone around but no one comes. Then when they do send someone they leave a brochure and information for a new roof!!! Call the office again for an estimate and the girl says two men $85.00 an hour. REALLY!!! How many hours is it going to take to get up on the roof and put 10 shingles down? Am I supposed to just guess? I have never dealt with such unprofessional people in all my years of owning a house. Maybe it's a big game they play the longer we have to wait the more shingles blow off and the more costly the repair will be. Not sure what has happened to Brown Bros. in the past 12 years but when we had the roof done they were extremely efficient and did a great job with the cleanup. Now you can't get any satisfaction. Read the Shingle Manufacturer's Warranty before signing up with Brown Brothers because it will be your only warranty on manufacturer's defects. Even worse, if there is a Class Action Lawsuit on your defective shingles, (like ours), you may only get heartburn and no manufacturer's warranty support, whatsoever. We were disappointed when the shingles, sold and installed by Brown Brothers Roofing, started to shed, curl and peel only 5 years after installation. And after fighting with the manufacturer's class action administrator for over a year, we learned the shingles would not be covered for manufacturing defects. Again, Brown Brothers will not take any responsibility for manufacturing defects in shingles they sell and install, so you will be on your own. Disclaimer: Work completed several years ago; updating this because I was on reviewing something else and realize I never finished,and to clarify claims made in a reply to my husband's review that were untrue. Hired Brown Bros Roofing to replace roof and windows on my home, and to replace windows in my father's. My home. Replacement of roof was fairly quick. We love the shingles and the color we chose; however, it's important to note that we initially wanted a tin roof because of the cost savings when compared to regular shingles. Unfortunately Brown Bros talked us out of it because they actually didn't know how to install them and just wanted the business. Anyway, they installed a ridge vent because we were having trouble with moisture in our unfinished attic. Unfortunately, they didn't tarp anything in our attic so all my son's baby toys and outgrown stuff, as well as our Christmas decor, got completely covered in saw dust and debris; they never cleaned it. The yard wasn't very well cleaned afterward, but I can get over that - except for the nails I found for at least a year after they finished. When installed, the roofers did an OK job. Onto the replacement windows. This was done by two of the guys employed by Brown Bros. We wanted Harvey windows, but they again talked us out of our choice because they claimed there was a better, less expensive but similar option, and if we went with this option, we might be able to get a deal, since they would be purchased for both my house and my father's. Nope, no deal ever happened; we just got "knock-off" Harvey windows that are actually thicker (less window). Installation was average except for: all the scratches to my Gumwood trim that were never fixed; the windows in my attic don't have locks on them because they "ran out"; when I was shutting one of the windows in my bedroom, a piece of trim fell on my head because it wasn't nailed back in; and lastly (I think), they never washed the windows, so we had glue and finger prints all over them when they were finished. OH! I almost forgot: I wanted bay windows in my kitchen, but they talked us out of those, too - we ended up with side-by-sides and again, lots of scratches from the install. All in all, the windows work better than the older ones, so I'll take it; however, for the same end price, I could have gotten my Harvey's :( OK, onto my dad's. He up in age, so he was just happy to have new windows; they truly did make his home more efficient, especially since the house was still rockin' its original 1919 rope-and-pullies. Same 2 guys, and my dad went with the same windows; with the stain in his home, the color was a perfect match. Unfortunately, there was quite a bit of clean up to do after the guys were done, as well as many scratches throughout his dark trim. My dad's happy, so I'll leave it at that. Lastly, to correct the reply on my husband's review. No, we did NOT have a final walk-through (at my house or my dad's); if we did, I would have pointed out the lack of clean-up and things that were missing. No, your comment is not completely accurate. You called me repeatedly after my husband's review and when I finally answered I did NOT say there were no problems; I actually said that we were not completely happy about the outcome, that I would talk to my husband and that if we want to talk to you we would call you back. (We didn't want to and therefore didn't; the next day, I saw your reply.) And lastly, yes, we did ask for pricing on siding for both homes, but knew something was up when we were provided only ONE siding option?!?!? FYI, there are other options besides Home Depot's: we had our house sided, and went to a showroom with SEVERAL color options AND displays. read more

Terrible service. When they did our roof, they left nails all over the driveway and actually had a runaway truck with no driver! No one was hurt other than a couple of nails in our tires and the roof looked okay so we let it go. Fast forward we notice the roof shingles are peeling. We find out the inferior shingles they used are now subject to multiple lawsuits. For fear of a leaky roof, we call and are told that "because this product was used on over 500 roofs" the best they can do is offer a discount on repairs and schedule an appointment to inspect the roof on Monday morning. We move things around to accommodate this and they call to cancel the morning of. Disappointing. read more

Brown Brothers repaired our roof a few years ago, while working through a general contractor. They did a terrible job. The roof has given us repeated problems ever since. To make matters worse, Brown Brothers is dragging us into small claims court. Talk about adding insult to injury. Never mind that we paid the contractor we used in full, and that we never even knew Brown Brothers was involved or even existed until we got the notice from the court. To make matters worse, customer service is awful. I had to call countless times to get through to the managers and owner of the business. Every time I talked to anyone, they would tell me to call back or take a message that never led to a returned phone call. They consistently failed to follow through with what they said they would do. Complete new red high end shingled roof, front gutter and downspout, including 3 complex mansard sides, new fascia's, soffit's, new window trim on 6 windows and major water damage interior ceiling repair on 2 skylights. Work began with the tear off of 2 layers of the old roof. The roof work included the re-flashing of 3 skylights which had been covered by tarps for years. The demo and shingling team was efficient and thorough. They paid close attention to covering the front garden and the stair and walkway. The carpentry team which included Mike and Keith did an excellent job, very skilled, personable and detail oriented. When I was home while work was done they walked me through the ongoing process, with likely timetables and schedules for the remaining work. They all obviously take a great deal of pride in their work. Lisa, the office manager and my primary contact in the Brown Brothers office, was very accommodating, pleasant and helpful throughout the entire process. After receiving several estimates for a new roof and some chimney and soffit work, we settled on Brown Bros. They came in about $1400 less than the high bid. They spent 3 days on the roof and when it was completed did a very good job cleaning everything up. The crew was very courteous and respectful of our property. The next heavy rainstorm revealed a leak around the chimney. Unfortunately it was the day before Thanksgiving and they weren't reachable. The holiday came and went along with the rain and I was finally able to speak with someone at Brown Bros on Monday. They sent a couple of men over that day and repaired the leak. So far so good. Brown Bros. provided a professional detailed and informed assessment of work necessary to repair the sheathing underlayment, add waterproofing and replace slate singles with new asphalt. Lot's of good feedback! The crew boss hospitalized due to a poisonous spider bite on previous job, so business owner took over. They did a beautiful job July 2015 on old Victorian house. He said he would do it right away, but made some excuses about their ladders etc., but said he would do job asap. We exchanged cell #'s and I have not heard from him since.
