I love this company. I have used them several times and they have always been incredibly responsive. About 20 years ago I had rubber roof installed on an addition that had several difficult corners so it took a few visits to get it all sealed up. But whenever I did have a problem, they were there immediately and did the repair at no charge. 20 years later, I had another leak (this time because of wear and tear of walking and growing vegetables on it), again Bob called me back almost immediately and the repair was done within 48 hours (it was not raining, so not leaking). I really appreciate that I can just point them to the roof and know that when they leave, there will be no sign they were there except a new patch. My neighbor used Ranch Roofing. The day of the work wasn't too notable except for some of the stuff they tossed off the roof getting stuck in power lines (and left stuck until the end of the day, which seems like a bad idea). I guess they had some kind of problem they had to fix, because 3 guys came back out the week after the day-long roof work. One of these guys had a real attitude, and was shouting, cursing, complaining, arguing with people (both the people who hired him, and other neighbors) for over an hour starting at 7 am. (This wasn't shouting to communicate while on the roof, this was just being very angry on the sidewalk.) Called the number on the truck to let them know; they didn't care, so I'm sharing here instead. None of this really inspires confidence. read more

They're professional, highly competitive on pricing, stick to schedule (which many contractors don't) and they do a great job with cleanup around the house (a big deal if you have little kids and don't want them stepping on stray roofing nails). From the time last fall I contacted Ranch Roofing about replacing my roof until the work was completed two weeks ago, I was very pleased with this company. I knew carpenters would come later to replace some siding, but was told they were very busy and I would receive an email with the day and time, as had happened with the actual roofing job. Yesterday morning I heard a ladder on my back deck and when I went outside, the carpenters were there. When I said I wasn't expecting them, one said my job was on their work list last week. Had a really nice experience with this company for replacing our roof. Our home was built in 1895, so we knew it was going to be tough to replace the roof and upgrade ventilation, while still maintaining historic charm. Ranch walked us through all the possible options for our roof/ventilation, showed us pictures of what the options looked like, and even sent us to a location that they'd just wrapped up so that we could better envision how a certain feature would look on our house. During the consult process, emails were prompt and communication was clear. When the work was being done, the crew was on time and considerate. They were able to redo our roof in one day as promised. We have a daycare next door and they were extremely careful with cleanup. We had four different companies give us quotes and I'm really glad we chose Ranch. Although they were not the cheapest of the four, it was because they were giving us options that would be the best for our house... not just slapping on the most generic package. During the whole process, I felt really well-informed about everything. They kept us up to date on everything and the whole process was pretty painless, or at least as painless as a roof install can be. read more

Let me first provide some (I hope) helpful context on the review. I'm a house 'nut' / Type A personality who researches subjects to death before making a choice and then very exacting in terms of my expectations with regard to quality of finish. I'm very capable (my hobby is cabinetmaking) and very handy at DIY (so I know good work from bad!). I'd also been previously 'burned' by a company based in Waltham (now bankrupt) that replaced all the wooden gutters on our house and replaced the fascia boards. Unfortaunelt they installed these incorrectly with the result that the rain came inside our walls!! (we had to rip it all out and start again) One lesson learned - don't be cheap with your roof! If you don't do it right you will end up with very costly repairs! I hired Bob and his team based on some very favorable Angieslist reviews (they were the top rated local firm) and after interviewing 6 other top rated companies. They were hired to replace the entire roof and gutters but as the relationship progressed I expanded the scope to include additional downspounts and the replacement of a decorative railing on the high part of the house. Given the previous experience with New England Gutter pro (the now defunct company) I was very nitpicky about Bob's teams plans for how the intended to repair the gutter and had done my homework (reading up on the recommendations from Fine Homebuilding Magazine and This Old House). I knew what I wanted and although other companies would agree to install the gutters and flashing/membrane in the manner I outlined, Bob/Ranch roofing said that was the ONLY way they would install anyones gutters "it's the right way" - That was music to my ears and a comforting sign that I made the right choice. Bob's team was great. The estimator (John) was a little unpolished but seemed a good guy. The rest of the team and Bob himself - fantastic. They cleaned up so that I couldn't find a nail in the garden (well, ok, I found ONE) and all trash was neatly disposed of. Importantly, our garden, which we take great pride in, was undamaged and the plants and shrubs around the house were well protected with frames/tarps. Their carpenter was very knowledgeable and creative and I had no hesitation in relaxing and letting him do his thing. When it came to repair our dormers and reside, Bob finished the work but as it was getting late in the fall, Bob suggested that it would be better if his team came back to paint in the spring once the temperatures were about 50degress. I was trusting enough to pay him in full even before they came back to paint (which they did). Im posting this review now, about 6 months after they wrapped up as they just completed the installation of a replacement decorative railing which had rotted. Bob research options (I'd proposed fabricating out of Azek) and although initially planning to make it out of Azek, he found a better solution from a polymer composite which would resist snow load better and be stronger. It was also no more expensive. He clearly took the trouble to research options and do the right thing for what was a small detail (low$) part of the job. In closing, I have no affiliation with the company and did not know them before asking them to bid. I also don't usually have the time to provide a positive review but the service and honesty I got from this outfit was so good, they deserve it. I hope Bob's team continue to do well. read more

Ranch Roofing came highly recommended to me by a friend who found them on Angie's List. In the last 2 weeks I have called three times, always during business hours. Each time I have spoken only to the answering service, who has assured me that my calls will be returned. To date, none of my calls have been returned. I understand that most area roofing companies are busy, but why bother to have an answering service tell potential customers that their calls will be returned when this is clearly not the case. Crew just did my roof this week. They arrived on time as scheduled, worked their guts out, had it off in four hours, replaced in four more, then completely cleaned up in another two. Polite, professional, efficient. High quality, from what I can see. There were some "extras" beyond the original estimate, which I expected given a 135 year old house. Dormers, skylights, etc, The options they gave me to deal with them were fair and in line with with expectations. No over promise or over sell. Only quibble is that they are tough to get a hold of for scheduling, but for them that's a good problem to have. More business than they can reasonably handle. Which for consumers means they're in demand, and likely have repeat and word of mouth business. No rain yet, but based on what I saw of the crew and installation process I'm confident and happy with the choice. read more

Terrible. I felt unsafe when all the bits of the roof were flying off and when long sheets of debris were dangling down and slapping against my window. A large chunk of sheet metal got caught in a tree! Also, they broke our roof drain or forgot to hook it back up, resulting in some water damage, and then insisted that no, no, it wasn't THEIR fault. The drain just HAPPENED to break on the same day that they finished roofing. read more

I have limited experience with Ranch, but I can say they were very easy to work with and they were responsive. I think they did a good job, but only time tells. What I think I can speak to is their business ethics: They accidentally damaged my AC system during a big roofing job. The repair bill was substantial and yet they paid the whole amount without arguing (which I believe was the right thing to do, of course). We hired Ranch Roofing last spring to re-do our roof with new shingles, repair/replace boards as needed, and add ventilation to attic space. Very happy with the results and with our experience working with them. We had a lot of questions about our ventilation options (our roof is not at all amenable to the ridge-vent-and-soffit set-up), and Todd, our sales rep, always responded quickly and thoroughly. We had good communication with the scheduling team as well. The roofing crew was efficient and professional, and did an excellent job on the clean-up. We're particularly pleased with how well they cleaned our neighbor's driveway and how well they protected that neighbor's cars, which we couldn't convince them to leave on the street (their driveway butts up against our house - they're very particular about the upkeep of their yard, and since we need their cooperation for many projects, we want to keep them happy). The roof looks great, and we felt the impact that the added attic ventilation is having on the temperature in the house immediately, as the project was followed by a heat wave. I also had to call them a few weekds ago (so, 8 months after they did the roof) when the wind tore a large chunk of aluminium sheathing from the fascia boards at the back of the house. Not sure it really had anything to do with the roofing project - I might have tried to reattach the thing myself, but I'm terrified of heights and don't have a ladder that would have reached - and they swung by 48 hours later and fixed it at no charge. . Would hire again, and will absolutely recommend them to friends. read more

I don't know why Bob and his guys don't have more reviews on here. He came recommended by a friend of mine who found them on another paid review site (you know the one). I previously contacted them about replacing some leaky skylights when the other company I enlisted kept having to delay. They gave a significantly cheaper estimate than the first company, but unfortunately I was unable to get out of the previous agreement and had to settle for a modest discount. A few days ago, we started getting water coming into our house due to a monster ice dam. We called every reputable roofer we could as well as some not-so-reputable ones, and almost EVERY roofer was booked solid. Many didn't even answer their phones. The only roofer who said he could do the job the following day wanted over $3000 for the job! We were pretty desperate and decided it would have to be $3000 now or even more this spring to repair the water damage. Early the next morning, Bob returned my call from the previous evening to say, like everyone else, that they were swamped and couldn't accommodate us. I thanked him and asked what a reasonable rate for snow and ice dam removal was. I'll tell you, it was a lot less than $3000! When I told Bob that we had an active leak and that we felt were going to hire the other company for over $3000, he worked some kind of magic and squeezed us into their schedule the SAME DAY for A LOT less because he wanted to help us out. About the service, I'll say that Bob's crew was friendly and very professional. I can't imaging anyone enjoying being outside in this weather, but they did a very thorough job clearing away the massive ice dams (our dogs did not like the hammering, I'll tell you!) and the snow. These guys don't just do good work at a very competitive price. Bob is also a really good guy, and I would highly recommend him for any roof work that you need done. read more

I was just thinking as I sit here with SO much snow on the roof and ice dams galore...how lucky I was to have Ranch Roofing put my roof on in 2004. Bob is the best...and the fairest.....he even came one time a few years later to see why I had a leak...and it had nothing to do with the roof but from the shoddy installation of a skylight, installed by my shoddy contractor in 2004 ....Bob fixed the problem for me and did not charge me!....Who does that? He does....I also had an emergency situation at my house at the cape in 2000 where there were multiple leaks causing every room but one to leak..some badly.. In the middle of the summer...I asked him on a Tues if he could come down ASAP and he dropped everything and brought his crew on SATURDAY and did the job...a great one!....I can rest easy and not even worry about all the snow/ice/rain on it now and be assured when it all goes away and I open the house up...it will be as dry as a bone....I HIGHLY recommend this company.. read more
