Brand new customer with Brownell's (online.) My first experience as an online buyer has been inexcusably unprofessional. Placed a very simple order for a pistol and some 9mm ammunition. At no time during the ordering/checkout process was I asked to provide a copy of my FOID card or driver's license. After two days with no shipping notice I contacted their customer support and was told that they need a copy of my FOID card to process the ammo order. This person did not tell me I had to also provide a copy of my driver's license during that call. I emailed them a copy of the FOID card immediately. I got an email that they had received it, but now also needed my driver's license. Why wasn't I told that during the first call? So of course I immediately emailed them a copy of my driver's license. A couple of hours pass and I receive an email asking me to call their customer support 1-800 number. I called them and was told they now needed my telephone number so they could provide it to my FFL dealer for the pistol. I told them that I would contact the FFL dealer personally to establish contact. Update: This troubles with this order have gone from very bad to worse. The tracking number I was given never got past the "label created" stage. Three customer service reps later, I got an email apologizing and that it would be taken care of. Now two days later and nothing. Order is still on hold. Yet another call to find out what's going on and no one at customer service is on the same page. I have to restate the entire mess to each person. None of them know anything and cannot give a simple answer about anything. I'm calling my CC company to see how to get my money refunded. So I ordered a extended slide release and a Zev technologies compensator. Extended slide release no problem the compensator went open the package one of the screws hit the ground I just thought it was lose went to put it back in realize the screw had been broken and the end of it was wedged inside the compensator and then started looking at the threads and realize that somebody had tried to install it and probably broke the screw. I contacted Brownell's and spoke to a total of seven different employees over the course of five hours. First employee didn't know what the heck they were doing sent me to a guy name Kyle which understood exactly what was going on told me to submit pictures of what I found with an email and he would get it taken care of and overnight me a new one because I ordered this two day air to have a shooting competition this weekend. Never heard back from him called and went through the cycle of several more people. Got an email from some customer support person named Jennifer that told me they no longer had anything in stock and that I should contact Zev technologies for my missing screw. To which I retype my email explaining the problem along with the photos and said it's not missing anything is there is broken because you sold me a used part. To which I've heard nothing from anybody everyone that I talk to you were supposed to forward me an email with the return label so I can ship the old one back. Seven people later I still have not received that email. Last person I talked to right before closing time told me that he would email it to me promptly but unfortunately the one I bought was the last one to which I laughed and said of course it is I got the one on the back of the shelf that it was used but nobody said anything. To which I said I just want my money back what's it gonna take to get it you can have this broken POS. They told me I'd have to return it and wait anywhere from 7 to 10 business days to have my money returned to me without my $20 expedited shipping fee I paid nevertheless. I basically hung up at this point I had hours into a situation trying to get something accomplished I'm out $130 with tax and shipping for my compensator and I'm passing on this information to other people do not make the mistake I did Brownell's customer service might be one of the worst in the firearms industry. read more

Checked with chat and they told me it was no longer in stock and that their website doesn't have real time inventory. But they could still send me the mags. What a waste of time. They sent me a replacement part at no charge contrary to their original response. Ironically, the error was on USPS as they delivered the part to the wrong address. First and last time doing business with Brownells. I returned a product last month and it was confirmed received on the 29th of March. Here it is April 11th and no refund as of yet. I used the online chat function and chatted with a rep to find that it could take up to 10 business days just to confirm the receipt of the item AND another 10 business days for the return to show on the credit card. Are you kidding me? Imagine if you went to ANY store and were told you need to wait basically a month to get a refund for your return. With all the options out there I'll never place another order with Brownells. Take a look at the reviews recently and you'll see this is becoming a trend. I checked my order status online and it was "On Hold" with no explanation. I wished they would send me an email indicating the status of Hold and I need to call customer service to clear it up. I contacted the customer service department and was told it was up to me to locate my package from the post office and that Brownells has no responsibility for my lost package at all. No sympathy or concerns about my situation. Just told, so sorry, but its your loss now if the post office did not deliver or if it was stolen. Worst Customer Service EVER! I ordered 2 magazines for my Marlin XT 22.lr and only received one. When I inquired about it I was told there was an Auspost investigation. Weeks went past and I had no response to several emails. I then called Auspost directly only to be told there is no investigation as the send never lodge an inquiry. I then tried repeatedly to contact Bruce from Brownells with no response whatsoever. I then sent an email stating that I would contact the NSW Office of Fair Trading if I did not receive a response by the end of the week. I ordered a part for a rifle at 1-2am on a Saturday morning. The very next day Sunday, before my order had even been assigned an order number I sent a reply to the confirmation email to cancel. I sent another Sunday night and another Monday after i was assigned an order number. I even went as far to sign in, went to the order number and tried to cancel there, but to no avail. The site stated that it couldn't locate my order number that had been assigned by the vendor. After 3 attempts to cancel, they still shipped my order. I will refuse the package. And I will also contact my credit card company to dispute the charge as I have 3 emails stating to "cancel" long before they even shipped. My requests went ignored. I would like to start off with if I could give a negative star, I would give Brownell guns and ammo negative infinity. If you want the type of a protection to stop anyone with a sling shot then do not depend on this place to assist you. I made an order on 01/19/2013 for a rather large order for a common consumer, and then on 01/30/2013 I decided to add some more to the order, and the rep canceled my first order and started a fresh new order without telling me this. I wrote down everything I ordered and the date on a piece of paper so I would not forget what I had ordered. a year went by and on 8/2013 I decided to call and see what was going on with my order. I was told many a story about the large order by the government, and that their warehouse was literally empty. it was at this time I found out about the first order being deleted and the second order being made so that made my turn to get ammo after everyone else that had made orders between01/19/2013-01/30/2013. normally that would not be much but because of the demand for ammo going through the roof, I am sure there was a good thousand orders before mine. I made a total of 8 more calls between 08/2013 and 08/2014, and every call was met with the rep mentioning that they were filling the government order, and that the troops needed the ammo first. Being ex-military I know that the military has large cache's of ammunition. the second to last and last calls made in 08/2014 I was also told that they were filling orders from the 16-25 January 2013 so my order would be filled soon. I just looked at my account today 03/10/2015 and it now states that the order has been canceled and unable to fill, WOW THANKS FOR THE CALL. needless to say I don't refer Brownell to my worst enemy, and suggest that the government refer the enemies of the U.S. to Brownell since then our enemy will not ever have munitions to fight against us. Brownell truly sucks and ill let the whole world know how it took over 2 years for them to not fill my order, and how they forget to call and inform the customer that they wont get the orders they make. Called them and spoke with a service rep who explained they are having computer problems and are shipping everything manually. Took another week after that to get my order. Count me as another affected by the "warehouse move". Placed an order on Nov.22nd, and all items were listed as "in stock". On Nov. 30th, I emailed them to inquire as to when my order was going to ship. The response from "Julie H." on Dec. 1st was: "With our final move into our new warehouse, your order was caught in the changeover. We had hoped to have a "zero impact" to our valued customers, but regrettably that didn't happen. Our goal is to be back fully operational mid-next week for sure." Of course, I complained (via email on Dec. 2nd) that waiting 2.5 weeks for "in stock" items to ship was unacceptable, and I requested that they immediately ship my items via comped next day air. On Dec. 4th (today), after receiving no response, I requested that they cancel my order and remove my contact information from their system. Good customer service is NOT about getting 99% of orders out on time. That is to be expected from ALL vendors. What makes good customer service is handling PROBLEMS in a timely and fair fashion. Although this has nothing to do with guns or ammo, I wanted to purchase a concentricity gage from them. When I placed the order online, I wanted it quickly, so I checked the box for two-day shipping and paid extra. Understand that this wasn't a terribly expensive device (around $100), and they delayed the order while sending me emails to contact them by telephone. When I spoke to the representative on the phone, she told me she needed to confirm all of the things they already had on the order. You can order things from Amazon and have them the next day, but with Brownells, why should you have to confirm all of the things they already know? Since four days had passed since I placed the order, and since they made me pay extra for the two-day shipping, I simply cancelled the order and purchased from Amazon... It was not much, just about 4 dollars, but it was enough for me to tell them about it with their contact form on the website. After contacting the seller once again, I reached someone and got the excuse "we are moving warehouses" I finally told them I wanted to cancel my order. The order had not been picked and shipped yet, but they told me they could not cancel it. Instead of canceling my order and letting me go happy that I could find a new vendor for the part, they decided to go to the second warehouse, picked up the part and shipped it out. As a business decision, they are ignorant wasting their time and money when I wanted to cancel the order. They didn't give me fast shipping to accommodate for the late delivery, so now it will arrive 4 days after Christmas. Now I have to refuse the package in which they wasted their money on and go through getting a refund. The customer service here was poor, I found a supplier who shipped the part out immediately and had great customer service. I WILL NEVER USE BROWNELLS EVER AGAIN! Did I mention I found the part for $60 less than Brownells? I recommend that you shut down your business and get organized before you tarnish your image any more. I sent 2 items back to them and they received them at the beginning of the month and 17 days later they still have yet to refund my money.
