Today I asked about an online price I'd seen from one of the big retailers on something I am considering purchasing down the road. He said he couldn't match it, but explained to me why. He wasn't rude or mad because of the question I asked. That really says a lot. My heart always says to buy local, but sometimes my budget overrides that decision. When it comes time to make that purchase down the road I'll talk to him again. If I can figure out how to meet in the middle between the gun, an optic, magazines, and ammunition I'd rather buy it from JT's. The shop itself is small. If they're busy it can get crowded and it's sometimes hard to avoid being muzzle swept by other customers. The staff is great about safety-checking everything so as long as the gun has comes across the counter from them I haven't been too concerned. Happened to me today with a customer looking at 1911s. They have plenty of inventory...new and used. A lot of guns you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in the metro. Great prices. They're a family owned shop and they are all very knowledgeable. I've used this gun shop for many years for my online purchases and never had any problems…read more Sometimes I would call to ask if I could pick up my firearm, and I was always treated with respect until two days ago. I received a notification that my order had arrived, so I called to ask if my firearm was ready. A very stubborn person answered and told me they would call me when my gun was ready for pickup. Ten minutes later, the same person called to say I could come and get my firearm. When I arrived, he told me that if I was going to keep calling to ask about my order, I should go somewhere else because I have to wait for them to call me, not the other way around. I've been using their FFL since 2021 and bought ammunition many times, but after this incident, I will not be going back to that store.

As with many gun shops, if you are looking for something specific, chances are the store does not carry it and they must order it for you. The store is on the smaller side and his shop has less merchandise that other gun shops, but Jack is very knowledgeable and can help you find the right item!

FYI: online, Compact mag is $29.40, Shield mag is $26.99. I told the owner I would be happy to add $5.00 to the trade. I'm thinking that would be an approximate profit of $7.50. The owner told me that "oh no, the Shield mag is much more." The deal he would agree to in the trade was an additional $13.50. As a businessman I understand making a profit. I also understand the need to establish a customer relationship to build a business. Unfortunately, this store owner understands the first, but not the second.
