The only reason I became a patient here was because I have an eye condition that required specialized care, and this was the only local practice with the qualifications to treat it. Otherwise, I would have had to go out of state to treat my condition. The billing process has been incredibly frustrating. Bills seem to be sent without consistency, and if payment isn't received immediately, the account is quickly sent to collections. I called multiple times asking to speak with a manager regarding my concerns, but none of my calls were ever returned. Most disappointing is the lack of compassion and personalized care. Patients are treated like numbers rather than people. Healthcare should be about providing quality care and communication, but unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I sincerely hope I never have to return.

During the consultation, the staff ran a plethora of test on my eyes to get a baseline and determine my eligibility. After, Dr. Nunnery came in and informed me which options I had for vision correction. I was still very much nervous, mostly due to my own fears, so I decided to give it a week or so to think about. I ended calling back and booking the appointment for PRK. I went in about a month later for the surgery. Due to some technical difficulties, the staff ask me to return the next day for the surgery. I went back the next day, and they performed the procedure. The team went above and beyond to ease my nerves. The surgery was only about 20 minutes in total and as I rose from the chair, my vision was almost perfect. The couple days after PRK are miserable as the healing process begins, but I was supplied with plenty of prescriptions, gear, and guidance to ease the process. There also were a few checkups during this period to ensure the process is going smoothly. It's about a month after my surgery and I am so happy with the decision. My vision is great, and the cost of about $6000 was worth every dollar. Dr. Nunnery is a professional in his craft and is a personable individual throughout the entire process. The rest of the staff is just as kind and ensured I had as seamless an experience possible.

My prescription (for reading) was only going in the lower portion of the lense. It was explained to me that was called a "progressive" lense...top portion has no prescription. I also needed new lenses in my sunglasses. I assumed the tech understood I wanted them exactly like my regular eyeglasses. Instead of simply saying that, she used other words when discussing the sunglasses. I still assumed they would be exactly the same. After picking up both pairs of glasses, I noticed the sunglasses were "blurry" when looking straight ahead. I knew immediately what happened. My reading prescription had been put in the entire lense. Not just the bottom. When I was finally able to speak to this tech, she told me I had to pay the difference for a "progressive" lense. Not for nothing, but I don't do this for a living. She does. Why on earth wouldn't she explain I needed a progressive lense in my sunglasses?? She didn't. She let me think my sunglasses would be just like my regular glasses! Then had the nerve to insist I was at fault. Sorry, not buying it! SHE is the so called "professional". If I only needed a reading prescription, hence a "progressive" lense on one pair of glasses, why would the second pair be different??? The first issue was just making the appointment. I showed up, they didn't have me scheduled. What followed was so screwy and complicated I don't even know how to go into any detail without needing five paragraphs, so suffice it to say by the time I could show them the confirmation on their CEENTA app all they could do was try to fit me in. They did, but I felt rushed and the doctor and his P.A. seemed to be distracted by thinking of the next patient while they were talking to me. All of this was nothing in light of what happened next. I had surgery on my neck. The goal of the surgery was accomplished but the incision wasn't closed properly and I am left actually deformed. It's ugly and permanent and I will be self-conscious about it for the rest of my life. I understand that by the time it was discovered there was nothing that could be done to correct it. But they were so nonchalant about it and haven't seemed at all concerned about what happened to me. And it absolutely WAS the fault of whomever closed the incision (I don't know who, I was anesthetized). I followed post-surgical instructions to the letter. I even considered a malpractice suit, but that would accomplish nothing. This cannot be fixed. I want to repeat: I have had a more-than-satisfactory experience at the Steele Creek location and the care I've received at the Southpark location has been outstanding for the last ten years.

I have worn glasses 85% of my life and I needed change, plus needed to improve my vision for my goals in the career. I came into the office to have all the readings and to make sure that I was candidate for lasik, they answered all my questions without fail. They answered them fully even if they were (to me) dumb and very basic. They have the upmost respect for you when you come in. The day of procedure can be absolutely nerve wracking but they eased everything by explaining every single step and everything that would happen to a 'T'. I had no fear or weariness going under. It was completely painless and even in "recovery" was not bad at all. Everyone in the office is phenomenal & know you by name when you walk in. They are always there to make sure every single question is answered to the best of their ability. If they do not know the answer, they go locate it and provide resources for you. I highly highly recommend Charlotte LASIK. This is coming from someone who is always weary of doctors and procedures.
