You may find yourself responsible for a a very large bill--even though I was assured that the procedure would be covered by my insurance company. The procedure itself was simply ok--didn't really achieve the objective. Front desk staff is snippy. I was happy to meet Dr. Greenman and his staff at my recent visit. Everyone is friendly and are happy to help you. I worked initially with one of the technicians, Janice. She was lovely and personable as well as informative and descriptive as we went through the first parts of my eye exam. Dr. Greenman is extremely nice and very gentle to work with. He is very thorough in his eye exam, so his gentle hands and nature and demeanor were much appreciated. He even pulled out his stethoscope to check my heart and listened to my carotids. I prefer to go to an Ophthalmologist as they are medical doctors specializing in eye care It's also good for insurance as they are a medical practice and the exam is covered under my health insurance where it wouldn't be for an Optometrist. Michelle (I hope I remembered her name correctly - she's a huge Disney fan) is in the glasses department and she helped me look through some of the frame choices they had and made ordering my glasses a quick and easy process. I hope I don't have to go back too often, but I'm glad to have met Dr. Greenman and some of his team. read more

Eye services - fine. If you need additional help, such as a letter, to get reimbursement from your insurance company...NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Make sure you know for sure if they take your eye insurance and if they don't, make sure you know what you need to get reimbursed before making an appointment. Greenman Eye doesn't seem to care if you get reimbursed. They just want you to pay them. I won't go there again. read more

I was losing vision in right eye. Was referred to Dr. Herb by medical staff. (Plus he is covered by my insurance) Nurse/technician (never identified herself.) did a lot of measurements. Dr. Herb did scans. Applied goopy ointment into my eye. Taped several pads and a plastic guard over my eye. Instructed to wear overnight, then use eye meds for follow up. Was supposed to send prescription to my Walmart pharmacy. They never got it. At time, Dr. Herb was signed into Greenman Eye computer system, but as tech/nurse. Could not send prescription. Tech/nurse was suppose to sign out, then Dr, Herb sign in to process prescription. He must have forgot. Had follow up visit scheduled for a couple days later. . This is a very busy office. Staff tends to get distracted. YOU have to stay on top of them. Be assertive. Follow up if no response in a timely manner. read more

I have a special place in my heart for Greenman Eye Associates! December of 2015 I obtained a fairly significant eye injury at work. I was in such terrible pain and immediately had extremely blurred vision/vision complications and severe redness and lacrimation (extreme tearing and running of the eye). Due to the nature of my work I was immediately unable to perform my duties and had to follow through with the workers comp process. With that being said I had to be seen at the hospital since the urgent cares were closed, then I had to be seen at an urgent care the following morning (mind you still in EXTREME pain even with the help of ED prescribed pain pills and still unable to use my L eye) and then...FINALLY, to my extreme joy, the urgent care was the last stop in the merry-go-round of workers comp fun. I was referred to Greenman Eye Associates and immediately got an appointment. The first time I walked into their office I was barely walking (without running into walls) on my own (when I opened my good eye it caused too much pain in my pirate bandaged injured eye) and was guided in by my boyfriend. The office was clean and the staff was outstanding. They are a group of exceptionally kind, patient, and helpful individuals. They were assisting me as much as they could since I was having a difficult time with paperwork, etc. They were thorough and precise with the workers comp process/paperwork and there were never any complications. When I needed extra copies or had a request from my place of work, they had them happily prepared and always had exactly what I needed. I saw Dr. David Greenman (yes, I know there are three of them and that can get confusing so I clarified for you!) and he was phenomenal. He performed thorough exams (I had a very large corneal abrasion covering the majority of my cornea), had a clear treatment plan that he walked me through every step of the way, and was extremely personable. He takes the time to talk with you and we even discussed his college days and our favorite places to eat in NYC. I was there for several days in a row as he monitored the treatments, my vision restoration, and the healing process as a whole. The staff and Dr. Greenman remained just as efficient and kind to me each subsequent day as they were the very first moment I walked in their doors. I am happy to say that my vision recovered fully and I am thankful to them for their hard work and wonderful establishment! read more

Great personable doctors and nice office staff - what more could you want? Honestly Max Greenman and his sons are amazing eye doctors and I should know - I have a series of difficult eye problems and they have been able to assist me with all of them. In addition to detached retinal issues (full disclosure the surgery for this issue was before going to Greenman's practice) and a wicked astigmatism I have had corneal scratches, a mild cateract problem, double vision in one eye, eye infections and all sorts of "fun" over the years. Greenman's docs have met me on the weekend when the office was officially closed to address an issue that could not wait. They are really fantastic at taking care of their customers. The doctors are great, the office staff is nice, the location is nice, the parking is easy, what more could anyone want? read more

The other bad reviews were accurate. I waited nearly two hours to see the doctor. For whatever reason, they continue to make patients wait a lengthy time. I won't be back and advise you to stay away unless you have time to waste. My time is valuable and they don't get that. read more

When I saw them advertise on TV I had second thoughts. This is a clinic. Very little explanation about my vision at any time. The doctor looked at his computer the entire time and any information I received was because I had to ask the questions. Will not do a follow up appointment. read more

Pros: everyone is very nice and knows the patients Cons: you will wait and wait and wait to see the doctor after the nurse checks or dilates your eyes. They will say 15 minutes but they really mean 30-45 minutes to see the doctor. Don't make an appointment if you want to be in and out. I have been here at different times during the day and I'm always left waiting after they dilate my eyes. I have been when it's very busy and in the morning when it is quiet and still I wait to see the doctor. Then when you see the doctor it's two minutes and your done. No one tells you when the doctor will see you after they dilate your eyes you're just left waiting forever. I went for a check after I had floaters and flashers and I was there almost 2 hours and 45 minutes of that I was waiting to see the doctor. For such a big practice they do not know how manage time or keep patients updated. read more

Please keep your loved ones away from this office!! Having Dr. Herb diagnose and operate on my Mother's eye is a decision my Mother and I regret. Thankfully, we found a caring, compassionate and knowledgeable Doctor who knows how to communicate effectively to REVERSE the surgery that Dr. Herb performed. Please know that we gave Dr. Herb, his Office Manager and his team several tries to prove they were capable and cared about their patients. They let us down each and every time. After my Mother's surgery, and during EACH (about 5 of them) follow up appointments, they never had her chart in her patient room, never knew what surgery they had performed/which lense implant they had inserted in her eye, and most importantly didn't perform the follow up tests they told us they would do at each follow up appointment. I had to mention to Dr. Herb that he had not performed these tests on my Mother. Dr. Herb can not look you in the eye when he is talking to you. When you are talking, he is constantly saying "uh huh, uh, huh, uh, huh, yeah, yeah, yeah". So rude and so disruptive. Eye care and surgery is a very scary and unnerving experience. You need someone with the upmost care and compassion and is able to communicate. This is NOT Dr. Herb Greenman!!!! At the first follow up to surgery visit (the first day after surgery), my Mother was a bit off balance because her one eye that was not yet operated on was unable to see clearly because she had been accustomed to wearing glasses. The other eye had the patch to keep it safe after surgery. So, she was no longer able to wear her glasses. She was a bit frightened to even walk for fear of loosing her balance. Dr. Herb directed us to Michelle at the Eye Glass Counter - after speaking to my Mother for a few minutes about my Mother's concerns, Michelle's reply was (and I quote), "Well, I don't know what to tell ya!" Again, another unprofessional, uncaring person in their office. I picked up my Mother's things and we left the office. This office should be ashamed of themselves and how they treat their patients. I wanted to walk up to each person sitting in their waiting room to tell them to find a more caring doctor. Most of the patients were elderly and didn't have an advocate that they will need to deal with Greenman Eye Associates. Our family members have been very pleased patients of Dr. Max Greenman for many years. I think his two sons are in the wrong business. Please keep your loved ones away from this office!!!! read more

My experience at the appointment itself was fine - it was the weeks afterwards that were a disaster. I ordered contact lenses that had a rebate, and the woman in the contact lens dept. told me that their staff would mail me the rebate info & all the documentation I would need in order to receive the rebate. After a week, the rebate info didn't come so I called to follow up and left a voicemail for the contact lens woman. She never called back, so I followed up again the next week, this time speaking to the front desk who said they would hand-deliver her the message. She still never called back. It took so many phone calls and so many weeks before they sent me the documents I needed, that once I received them the deadline for the rebate had already passed (it had to be submitted within 30 days of ordering the contacts). I will not be returning to Greenman Eye Associates. read more

Visited this facility recently. After examinations were completed for my wife and me, the report was that everything was ok. Then before we could get out the door, Max came running and said my wife needed to come back the next business day if possible. He said I also needed to return ASAP. My wife went back and they told her she had the first stages of Glaucoma and would need shots in her eye. With this visit she had to pay another $45 co-pay. Not only that, but they got the bill screwed up. My wife is trying to find another doctor to get the shots and as for me, I am not going back! read more

Stay away! Stay far away. I recently moved to Charlotte and was REFERRED here to establish a new eye doctor. I've suffered from chronic red eye in one eye for years and wanted to get the doctors opinion on treatment, as well as a routine exam and begin a relationship. I've gone to eye doctors all my life and have never had an experience like this one. I was brought back by the Max and asked what was going on, I described the problem in detail as well as what my previous doctor had told me. He then looked into my eye through his machine you put your chin and forehead against -- proceeding to try and flip my eyelid up over and over again! I kept pulling away and told him it hurt and I'm not great with eyes -- he told me "Stop being such a wimp" "Why are you sweating don't be such a wuss" As I explained I'm squeamish with eyes AGAIN he called in his tech to HOLD MY HEAD IN THE MACHINE...yes you heard that one correctly. After I wasn't having that he put a drop in my eye that burned terribly and told me "not to worry about it." He said I would have to come back to see his son, which was too busy to give his opinion today because his schedule is "too busy and demanding today". When he walked me out to make a new appointment he told me he hopes next time I can be less of a wimp. At checkout they had my name wrong in my chart which was the last straw -- I cancelled the future appointment at the desk and left angry and extremely upset. I had never been treated like that by any doctor before. Please don't make the mistake of going here -- no bedside manor and no regard for you as the patient. You're eyes are very valuable, trust them to someone else. read more

Dr. Greenman himself is so friendly and encouraging. I was having a mental breakdown over my eyesight, which I thought was getting worse- when I started experiencing dark circles in my line of vision and he calmly explained the reason I was probably experiencing those problems was due to my diet and they are called migraine auras. I was elated and he helped me calm down and gave me the best pep talk. Truly happy with my experience and so thankful to him for taking the extra time with me on his busy day! I would always recommend him & his practice for an eye exam, contacts, anything!! read more
