New to Vancouver, and after doing a good amount of research to find a new mechanic, I decided to go with Brown's Quality Automotive. Took my 2016 Mazda CX-5 today for a 100,000 mile service, as well as to check out some concerns I have had with my brakes. Robin gave me an estimate over the phone, and they were able to get me on their schedule quickly. The service and brakes were done in a few hours, and I had a hearty breakfast a few steps away at Carol's Corner Cafe while I waited. When the service was finished, Robin lowered the labor costs for installation of my cabin filter, as the mechanic was able to access it quite easily. Based on my previous experiences with mechanics, I'd say that prices at Browns are certainly fair (not the lowest, but definitely fair). After I left the shop to run some errands nearby, I felt compelled to go back to Brown's Automotive to thank them yet again. This will sound like hyperbole, but it's the honest truth: my sweet Mazda now brakes and drives better after this service than ever before! I am so thankful to have found an honest and skillful auto mechanic shop here in Vancouver. They will definitely be my go-to shop from now on. A+++ read more

Decent work, but they pulled a bait and switch. He quoted us, $1800 dollars to replace two parts on a Prius, after the work was done he billed us $4100.00. We have replaced the same parts before and combined, they cost about $1200.00. He basically charged us about $3000 dollars for labor, when the car was sitting in their parking lot for over a month. We had to call them repeatedly to find out the status on the vehicle, because they don't communicate. Then he will refer you to a loan company, that gives him a kickback, to pay for the inflated cost. We had the $1800 dollars he originally quoted us saved, but because he changed the price after the work was done, we had to take out a loan. He is shady! He is rude, when you have the audacity of challenging the accuracy of the bill. Do yourself a favor and find a more reputable mechanic. This guy is not worth the hassle!!! read more

The Browns are an amazing power duo who are frank, straightforward, and very open to answering my many questions. I was in the market for a used car, and have been having so much trouble just initially wading through all the scammers. When I finally found a car that seemed like a reasonable buy, I took it here for a pre-purchase inspection. I am new to the area, and just didn't have any recommendations for a good local mechanic. I found this shop via Google. I came a bit earlier than the seller to resolve the payment, as well as ask my many questions about tips and tricks for the buying process, as well as huge red flags. They were so patient, very attentive, and didn't sugar coat their words. I was able to pay without an issue for the inspection, and they were nice enough to accommodate and send the report via email and offered to call me to discuss results later in the day, as I had to get to work. They were very straightforward about what they can look at with the inspection, what they probably wouldn't as there was no reasonable way to do it, and gave me advice on info to ask the sellers. Ultimately, I did not buy the car I brought to the shop, as I got estimates on how much it would cost for general maintenance that the seller told me had supposedly already been done. Took my car in here because the hood latch was broken. They found a couple of other things that needed repair. Got my car back and was barely drivable. Car failed to start every other day blowing huge amounts of smoke. Brought it back, got it back a couple of weeks later and the car didn't even make it home. Total time without a running car 1 1/2 months and approximately 3 grand later and they still handed back a car that doesn't run. Needless to say, no way I'm bringing my car back to them. Update: I took my to Bartosh auto. The problem with my car was a bad battery, $180 , they also said the my valve cover was leaking, something that I paid brown's to fix. I have since moved back to Wisconsin and took my car in at the bmw dealership and the said the same thing about my valve cover. I'm now in the process of discussing this with my attorney. read more

*WARNING* Terrible service!!! This was my first and very LAST time dealing with this shop!!! Ever heard the saying you pay for what you get? Will definitely find that to be true at the shop! I would rather pay double the price and get the work that I actually paid for vs come here, pay less and have work not performed or corners CUT This was proven by the dealership that had to go over this shops work! Brought them my 2013 Dodge Caravan that spontaneously overheated. All the other shops immediately quoted large amounts to work on it (as a suspected water pump failure) and Robin told me to let him take a look first. Turned out the water pump was fine but someone (I'm assuming the used car dealer I purchased the van from) put stop leak in the coolant system and it blew out the hoses and gummed up the fans. He quoted me fairly and got the job done quickly and was pleasant and professional. His wife is hilarious and very precise. Wonderful experience. (and I also got an excellent price on a long overdue oil change). Nothing fancy or overblown. Just good old fashioned service. read more

I tried Brown's because my regular mechanic left the business. Hoping it would work out, I brought my Honda Fit in for a strange noise that could have been the timing chain. Brown's discovered that all I needed was an oil change and flush the system to properly lubricate everything including the timing chain. I'm really pleased that they were honest about this repair, giving me the simple affordable option when they could have easily just said I had to replace the chain. They had good communication with me and informed me really well about the care of my car. I will definitely use them for my and my wife's car repair needs from now on! read more

I took My 08 Subaru into Browns, I had a oil leak I had 3 other shops look at and try to fix. Browns were honest and did the work and it was fixed. Wish I brought it there FIRST. I regret it now. I have a trouble code now and I will be taking it in in the morning. I have faith and encourage anyone else to give them a try. I will be taking my vehicles here from now on. Took my infinity qx70 to get AC filled. Because my car was in a previous accident and the AC didn't want to work (electrical problem) the guys were great they found the problem and fixed it for me. I would definitely recommend them and go there again for any service on my car. read more

I used to go to another shop to have my cars repaired and service done, but I had lost confidence in their service (I.e. shady). I decided to try this place out and I'm glad I did. I appreciated the owner saving me money by letting me know that since my car still had low mileage even though it is almost 5 years old, that the repair that I needed done was actually still under warranty and can be done free of charge by a dealer. The other shop gave me a totally opposite answer so needless to say that I now have a new place to take my cars for service and repairs. read more

My Honda Civic needed it's scheduled maintenance & just went over 100,000 miles. Scheduled my appointment and was kept informed of any issues that popped up. I forgot to mention I wanted my headlights replaced & was given a price quote for that. The price I was quoted for the services done are in line if not less than the other shops I called for my car. I would recommend you take your car here for servicing. This is the second time I have taken my car here and see no reason to go anywhere else. read more

Had a complete rebuild done on my 2004 Jeep Wrangler over a year ago here. Have had absolutely no problems, completely professional and made me feel like family. Also had my girlfriends 2004 Lancer repaired, quality work as well, every time. ALSO, I dare you to get whatever work done you need quoted here first, and then call every shop you know, YOU WON'T find a better price for the quality work you get here. FINALLY, they have never tried to make an absurd amount of money off of me, and I know that from the price of my engine rebuild compared to all the other shops. I brought in my Nissan Pulsar to have some things worked on - they replaced some tubes, thermostat, and radiator. The price is good when compared to other auto mechanics in the area and they did the job right. In the end they even got my heat working (Yeah she's an older one). The only thing I'd note is that my car was in the shop for a week being worked on. Really can't complain though because she is running much better and I haven't had any problems. after reading all the reviews I had hoped I had found my new mechanic somehow I don't think this review will make the cut they called back after looking up my truck and told me they would do it for $90. so I dropped it off that night and they had it all day and said it would be ready at 4 p.m. and it was not $90 it was $140 and it was overfilled by half a gallon which I had to remove after going to the store to get something to remove it with.so no I'm not real happy and I could not recommend. I left this review on their website but seeing as how they have only 5 Star reviews on there I am sure that this one will not be showing up there. read more

Would never use these people! Told an elderly lady friend that her pickup needed a catalytic converter and would cost her $500. Said the check engine light was burned out and was why it wasn't on. Vehicle runs great, just has a rattle. The heat shield was loose. They saw a potential money source and was going to get all they could out of a "helpless old lady". Rate as deceptive read more

DO NOT DO NOT take your car here!!!! Trust me! If you have a Volvo take it SwedeOne in Portland. Otherwise I suggest finding a different shop. This man screwed me out of $3000 and now wants another $500 after he gave me my car back in worse condition! Normally a mechanic doesn't tell you 'I know what the problem is', keep your car for three weeks, give it back to you unfinished and tell you to take it somewhere else, then when that doesn't work tell you to pay more and play a back and forth game between the other mechanic and him. i caught him in lies to me about prices and he was also hoping because I'm a woman wouldnt catch things. Surprise! I did. You will be thankful if you take my advice and keep looking around. I promise and I never make a promise if I am not 100% sure. read more
