Had Bergman's replace an engine. Took weeks longer than quoted. Paid extra to have fuel injectors serviced based on Steve's recommendation. Obviously this was not a low cost repair. Told a friend of mine where I had the work done and he went over to get a quote on an a.c. Compressor for his call. He said they were very rude and inpatient, so he just left. 3 months after my engine replacement and an injector went out! Don't think the even had them serviced! This place might be fine for small jobs, but I wouldn't recommend them for anything too sophisticated. read more

Totally overcharged on parts and did not even need to be replaced, If Sean the owner would have listened to me on the first visit and did the tune engine tune up with yes new spark plugs and engine coils, and not just guess on what is wrong on my car I had to go back 3x and paid well over $1500. After all his guess work I made him drive with me in my car so he could know what I was dealing with and he said "well I think you may need new engine coils" me I'm like didn't you do that with the tune up? Sean no but it will only be like a1 1/2 hour labor and $275 for the coils!!!! I did the job my self. Car now runs great I would trust this guy read more

When my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe needed yet another alternator, I contacted Bergman's after getting no response from the local Hyundai dealership. We drove down from Seattle to the dealer and moved the SUV to Bergman's the next morning. Immediately, a diagnostic test was done and the alternator was indeed found defective. Sean promised that he would be able to replace it within days - important, because we had to leave for several weeks in Europe the following week. Indeed, the car was ready on the preceding Friday, so we drove once again back to Vancouver to pick it up. My 2017 hyundai elantra had problems with stalling randomly, took it to multiple shops and they couldn't replicate a code. Bergman's took extra time and detail to narrow down the problem and replaced my electric throttle body and his pricing is really a very fair price. My experience was straight forward. I dealt with Sean. He gave me an estimate on the diagnosed issue. After a quick discussion on the phone he went right to it, and I picked it up that evening. He had to do more than change the struts but he also let me know of another possible issue in the future, gave me a guesstimate, topped off my fluids for free, let me know my battery will need to be replaced soon, and offered to put my new windshield wipers, I already had, on my car at no fee. I declined but only because I like being fair too. I knew they needed to clean up and get home. It cost more than my online search suggested but Sean also did more than suggested. I brought my car in for a bad alternator. In the process they found that my radiator and AC condenser had a leak (saved the old parts for me to see). I had a factory alternator put in, a new radiator and AC condenser, my transmission flushed and an oil change (it was due for the oil change). The price was reasonable. I later determined they put my driver side sun visor on (I had been trying to put the replacement visor on for a few months but could never get it to snap into place) without me asking, and I no longer have to wait to turn my heater/AC unit on as a result of the AC condenser repair (I'm assuming). This is my second time using Bergman, and I'll use them again. Fast, honest and reasonably price! read more

Had to get my valve gasket cover replaced... it was very easy to set up an appointment and they quoted me hundreds of $ cheaper than at least 4 other shops in Vancouver. My only complaint would be they replaced both my cabin and engine air filter without asking or telling me and I had just done it myself 3 months ago so I'm certain they didn't need to be replaced. It was only an additional $30 and the total cost ended up being less than what they had originally quoted me, however I'm still not a fan of doing business this way. I should always be asked if additional work is done to my car, especially things that don't need to be done. read more

I would highly recomend 2 five star places precision tune and jiffy lube. no stars for burgmans automotive worst experience ever paid $450 got nothing fixed and left with no oil wow watched someone else pay $1000.00 that was quoted $500 because he made the mistake of leaveing his car unattended at the shop I got to hear the owner scream so load they could probably hear him at the minute mart when I went there to adress his misdiagnosed issues and his failure to label A or B and what parts he actually diagnosed and fixed as everyone knows most. I have been going to Bergmans Auto for years now. He has done good work on my car. But recently he sold me and my husband a car he knew was unsafe and unfixable. When I called him about it he said we test drove it and should have said something then. My husband asked him what the rubbing was when he test drove it and he told it was the new struts. We trusted him because he has always been honest. We paid way more than the car was worth and have taken it to two shops so far and both have said it's not fixable. Hello. My name is Gary Wharton and I am a formally certified ASE auto mechanic who is now retired and I own A 1991 subaru loyale with high miles . I had rebuilt the engine in it as they no longer produce it. That being said ,I had taken two other of my vehicles to shaun for repairs and been fairly satisfied with the results and he and I seem to be on a good terms but I took my subaru to him to replace the left rear wheel bearing on a thursday morning fully expecting to pick it up that afternoon [we had to schedule it two weeks out as he was booked solid ].Now expecting to get my car back that afternoon didnt happen and I understand ,things happen . The repair I needed done takes at the very outside two hours. As Shaun isnt open sat or sun and closes promptly at five the days he is open . I called him on monday to enquire about it and he explained to me that he was very busy and he would get back to me. Well wednesday comes and I get A call from him telling me that it wasnt the wheel bearing but the driveshaft that was the issue to which I asked, are you sure? [ not thinking to myself that it is a front wheel drive until you engage the driveline by putting it into 4 WD ]. to which he responded yeah ,so told him to go ahead with the repair and he said, its going to cost more and I said that I figured that much . This procedure takes even less time than the bearing replacement . That was wed morning , friday afternoon at 4;45 to inform me that my car was ready. So go to his shop and pay him and as you cant drive two cars at once i asked for the keys and he kindly offered to drive the car to my house and then i would drive him back to the shop.So i get into my car as the passenger and he goes to take off my valves are hammering like mad and I say WTF ? This engine has NEVER made this kind of noise EVER so he tells me he adjusted the timing and I asked why? he said o make it run better, to which i responded well its not running better there was NOTHING wrong with the way it ran and yes it was the wheel bearing I still hear it. He drove us back to his shop and tried to adjust my timing by ear [ no timing light ] but it still wasnt right. So I get home and adjust my timing bac but the damage was done,two days later my car with the recently rebuilt and very hard to find engine was spewing thick black smoke out of the tailpipe. Thats when it dawned on me [Wait A minute ,it was never in 4wd so how could he have diagnosed it to be a driveline if it was never engaged ] he couldn't , he strait up ripped me off for over 700 dollars not to mentoin the engine he ruined. Sorry so wordy but im not real good at expressing myself and this seems to be my only recourse . A small little auto shop located off of St John's. The guys there are very friendly and know what they are doing. I brought my 2003 Hyundai Tiburon there in rough engine shape and they made it run smooth. This was about a month ago. I wanted to wait and make sure they didn't do a temporary fix like Jiffy Lube or other branch stores do. I live in Beaverton and I drive all the way to Vancouver to see Sean because he's honest and takes pride in his work. I have many coworkers who see him and so I decided to check his shop out because I was experiencing vibrations in my steering wheel when I break. I talked to Sean about it and he suspected that it could be my rotors, but wouldn't be certain until he sees the car. He was correct. My rotors were in really bad shape and so were my front breaks. He fixed them at a reasonable price (dealerships and other mechanics would've charged an arm and a leg). In addition he let me know that my back breaks will need to be repaired in the near future. I like that he was honest. I think that if it were another mechanic, they would've told me that I would need to replace my back breaks right away. Lastly, I like the fact that Sean saved my old parts for me to see. I've had my car for over 10 years and no other mechanic has taken care of me the way Sean has.
