The guys were very responsive to get the job, prompt and on time, and polite when they arrived and even through the process. However they totally hustled me. They quoted me one price and then changed and increased the price two times during the moving day, while they already had my things packed in their van. Which also they didn't show up with an actual moving truck but a large van --So that was their excuse as to why they now needed to do two trips to my new house and were going to charge for it, (why was it my problem they did not have a large enough moving truck and also did not tell me this??) and then claimed I had more inventory than they expected or I told them, which wasn't true. I stated I had two large couches and several end tables, baby crib and baby furniture and about 4 wardrobe size boxes and some medium boxes. They said I told them perhaps half of that, it wasn't true. I had an estimated inventory list I sent to several moving companies so why would I have told them anything else?? But what could I do at that point? They already had my belongings in their van once they increased the pricing, and I had to move that day, and they knew that. So they ended up basically hustling me, I ended up paying more than double their original quote. They charged for the distance, the double trips, anything they could use to charge me more for. I've moved multiple times in Manhattan, Long Island and the Hamptons over the last 11 years. Never had a bad experience like this. The price was always the price, they packed everything and were very professional. This company is not that. They are a small company, they don't have an actual moving truck, it's a large van. They don't make an inventory list before hand (so make sure you have one and it's exact, not even one or two boxes or a piece of furniture more when you get a quote from them, otherwise they will change your price multiple times during your moving process). And they will demand the tip as I see in other reviews they did this to me too and wanted 100/each at the end. So after quoting me 800. It was 1500. The whole process just felt dishonest and when your items are already in their van, your hands are tied and you have to pay it. There's a lot of moving companies out there so I would recommend looking elsewhere. Or if you hire them, make sure to have your exact inventory, and know what type of vehicle they are bringing to move your items in and make sure that all your items will fit. Otherwise you are in for big surprises the day of. And they know that, so they seem to be getting away with doing this as I can see from other reviews... it's the same story.

I also dislike…read moreposting negative reviews, but every time I see a nick or a scratch on a piece of furniture or piece of framed art or think about my mattress that arrived completely covered in mold, or how I had to spend more money to have lamp shades repaired, it really pisses me off. The one star is for how accommodating they were while my belongings were in storage. They allowed me to access my belongings before I left because I had packed something I needed and they allowed my mom to drop off a couple of bags once I had actually moved away. I'm told these were favors as they usually don't allow these things...again though, had I had my own temperature controlled unit, I'd have been able to come and go as I pleased. it could very well be that all of my beef is with the shipping company. But based on the mold smell that still lingers in some of my clothes, it seems like that odor had been creeping in there for months. Full disclosure: My belongings hung out in their holding warehouse for many more months than originally anticipated. At least double the amount of time. When I first spoke them I asked about climate control...you see over the years I had built a collection of clothes and furniture that I care deeply about and I was assured moisture was not an issue and that it always stayed cool in the warehouse. I'm the idiot for believing it. To make things even worse, I had recently purchased my first adult mattress spending a very pretty penny for my quality of sleep; I even did my first payment plan for this mattress! I was not easy to work with, I admit. I had no idea the length of time it would take me to find a suitable dwelling in Oakland, CA. Each month, I'd pay the storage fee and say "not yet". I just figured it was more money in their pocket. Well, fast forward 8 months, I have my new home (finally, it was extremely difficult to find a place with my dog in the Bay Area) and I am ready to get my belongings. Most importantly my mattress. Oh how I had dreamed of that mattress and was looking so forward to getting to sleep on it again (I had JUST finished paying it off a month before I got my things). I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of everything. The wardrobe boxes arrived with an overwhelming stink of mold. The moldy smell still lingers on some of my clothes almost one year later. But, my heart was broken when the guys from the moving company they worked with unwrapped my mattress. I was assured by Supermovers that it was wrapped air tight. Supermovers placed the blame on the company that did the actual delivery and of course they blamed the storage facility it was in.. The mattress was dark brown, green, ugly shades of blue. It looked that mold had been growing for a long, long time. It was completely beyond repair. Picture frames and my desk had scratches, chips and nicks that were not there before. Lamp shades somewhat damaged requiring repair. But oh that mattress. Forget insurance. Mold is one of the only things not covered by renters/property insurance. Omar finally agreed to send me a check for less than a quarter of what the mattress cost. I still get nauseous thinking about it. So, pay the extra for the climate control if you plan on leaving you stuff there. I would hope that a local move within the same city would go smoother with them. At least for their sake. If you are planning a move your things to another state, I'd stay far away from them.

Starting the process with Corey, doing…read morethe initial walkthrough to make sure all of our inventory was accounted for and properly quoted and making sure we had adequate packing supplies was incredibly smooth. His communication was excellent from that beginning point all the way through to moving day, when he even checked in on the crew to make sure everyone knew what the plan for the day was. Our move involved two trucks with a main collection location and a second stop collection. The moving crew itself was fantastic! Led by Mr. Eddie, they were hardworking, polite, and efficient throughout a stressful day. They packed our property incredibly well, and Mr. Eddie kept us constantly updated on when to expect the second truck to meet up with the rest of the team at our delivery location. They were also more than happy to adjust and move things around if we weren't completely satisfied with the layout before unpacking and assembling everything. During the move, a deep scratch unfortunately happened on our hardwood floor from a dresser. While the claims process took a few weeks to fully review and coordinate, Corey stood behind the company's policy and fully reimbursed us for the repair costs. Accidents happen during moves, and it's rare to find a moving company with this level of integrity. Would highly recommend them for their transparency, organization, and care!

Upon entering our apartment, one of the movers, before even introducing himself, wanted to know if he could take the window a/c units home for himself. They spilled coffee all the way down our landlord's steps and now she's asking us to pay for a $250 cleaning bill. They complained to us the entire day about having to move all the boxes and furniture (you know, they job they were hired to do). At our new home, they left garbage everywhere and our large furniture items upside down and left in shrink wrap. They damaged or destroyed so many pieces of furniture, including tearing a huge hole in our couch. They slammed down a box that was clearly marked fragile; every glass inside was carefully wrapped in foam and paper, but their extreme treatment still shattered a glass into a thousand pieces. And since they have the payment, they don't care; they refuse to answer or return our calls now. Oh, and they don't inform you until the end when they demand payment the same day that they will upcharge you if you try to use a credit card. I can't recommend other movers enough. Stay clear of Morrissey Moving unless you want the quality of service you can get from random bums on the street.
