The original quote was for under 200 cubic feet. After packing at our apartment, it jumped to 300, and once it reached the warehouse, it increased again to 400 -- double the original estimate. We had even signed a document stating the total wouldn't exceed 20% above the quote, yet it went far beyond that. To his credit, Guy did split the difference with us, which we appreciated, but the process was inconsistent and stressful. When our shipment arrived, around 25 books, my college diploma, and other items were damaged -- clearly from poor packing, not transport. The loss was just under $1,000, yet we were only offered $150 as "goodwill," and later $75 more after we involved a lawyer. Guy was friendly, but overall the experience was disappointing. Other young couples we know had similar issues with inaccurate quotes. If you have a big household move, Best Guy may be fine, but for smaller shipments or young couples, look elsewhere.

The president, Patrick, explained that they usually have someone come out in person and look over the contents to be moved. And then the rep would give a quote then and there with no additional costs/fees (as long as nothing changes with the inventory of course). However, because of my short notice, it was advised I send over a detailed inventory list. Throughout my correspondence with Patrick, he always responded fast and eventually gave me the things I requested like multiple quotes based on different inventories. On moving day, the foreman, Anthony, arrived with a team of three other movers. They were all professional and efficient. Apartment move to a house took about three hours from the time they arrived at the apartment until the time they left the house.

We were quoted a little over $500 for a three-hour, two-person move. We fully disclosed our inventory in advance, including our king mattress and the weight of our adjustable base. We specifically asked whether additional movers would be necessary and were assured that two movers would be more than sufficient. The move ultimately took approximately 10 hours instead of the quoted three, and our final payment exceeded $1,300--more than double the original estimate. This was not a minor miscalculation or a reasonable overage. The move took more than three times as long as represented. The first crew handled our belongings extremely poorly. They initially refused to bring our king mattress and adjustable base upstairs, even though both items had been fully disclosed before the move. The mattress was only brought upstairs after we insisted that the job was not complete without our bed in the bedroom, particularly because it was our only place to sleep that night. Amplified later sent a second two-person crew, and those two movers handled the adjustable base without difficulty. That made it clear that the issue was not simply the number of movers. It was the preparation, execution, and competence of the original crew assigned to our move. After unpacking and inspecting our belongings, we discovered damage to nearly all of our furniture. Two of our three televisions were also damaged, in addition to damage to our flooring and a curtain rod. This was not one isolated accident or normal wear associated with moving. The damage was widespread and affected a substantial portion of our belongings and home. When I spoke directly with Patrick, the owner, he was rude, dismissive, and refused to take meaningful ownership of what happened. He suggested that we needed to make "compromises" in order to be happy. When I directly called out how poorly the move had been handled, Patrick then accused me of being rude. Is that really how an owner speaks to a customer whose three-hour move turned into a 10-hour ordeal, whose bill more than doubled, and whose furniture, televisions, and home were extensively damaged? Holding a company accountable for its own failures is not being rude. Customers should not be expected to stay quiet or "compromise" when their belongings are damaged, major disclosed items are initially refused, the estimate is wildly inaccurate, and the owner responds defensively rather than professionally. Amplified Moving turned a quoted three-hour move into a 10-hour ordeal, charged us more than twice the original estimate, damaged nearly all of our furniture, damaged two of our three televisions, caused property damage, and then blamed and insulted the customer for raising legitimate concerns. This was one of the worst service experiences we have ever had. I would not recommend Amplified Moving under any circumstances.

Everywhere a number is shown it says $95, but it also mentions 2hrs minimum, so the minimum total is $190 plus tip. If you're booking quickly, please be sure to recognize that even for a 1hr move you'll be paying over $200 with tip. Second, their site shows availability for the current day, but when you try to book or call, they will frequently say there is no availability (this happened to me twice). When you call in they'll try to book you for a later day. That is a bait and switch and takes up my time that I could have used to find a different mover. Finally, they denied me service today, partly because their drivers are unavailable (site shows availability for every time slot today), and partly because they said I was unhappy with the price I paid last time (which is true, I suggested they update their website, and the site still doesn't list "$190" anywhere as the minimum total). I give them two stars because the moving service was professional and seamless, but all the extra effort around scheduling and pricing make it not worth the hassle. Please note that they also push their customers to leave yelp reviews, which likely skews their overall rating higher than it otherwise would be.

I was moving a 5 medium sized pieces of furniture and needed a bed taken outside. I was working with Jahfari (spelling?) and one other mover and they used a sprinter van- $90/hr. They were great to work with, quick, careful, and had a good attitude. I used them for about 3 hours including travel. There was an ~$83 deposit, $100 for the COI which my building required, and the $90/hr and I tipped 25%. I moved from South Williamsburg to the East Village. Please ask about they're smart bins. The first time I relocated for a job I purchased expensive boxes from Home Depot. On the second move they informed me they have Smart Bins. These smart bins were so convenient. You can place food, clothing and other items quickly in the smart bins with less packing time than assembling and using a moving box. I'm an attorney and I can't tell you how many scam moving companies I have seen in court and heard about movers damaging property during the move. With Smart Price they're is no need to worry about being scammed or having your personal items being held hostage for more money.
