the office staff is unprofessional. They tell you they will call back and never do. Their billing staff has no clue and they will bill your insurance incorrectly and then try to tell you it's your insurance. They will say certain procedures are covered (in my case fluoride treatment) and then you get charged for the treatment. Stay away unless you are willing to get the billing straight before you leave. read more

If you are a NEW patient, BEWARE!! They don't tell you ahead of time that you need X-rays from your former dentist transferred over at the time of your appointment--otherwise you have to pay $40 out of pocket for X-rays there. So if your former dentist's office is closed that day or they can't get the X-rays transferred over right there and then, you're out of luck, and will have to pay $40 on the spot to have X-rays done before they will provide you any service for your teeth, even a basic cleaning. I'm not going to pay $40 for X-rays when I just had them done 6 months ago! And now, with it being the end of December, I won't be able to get into a different dentist before the end of the year and have it covered by my insurance. All of this could have been avoided if they'd simply told me about their X-ray policy when I made the appointment over the phone, months ago. But no, instead they'd rather put people on the spot and try to scam them out of $40. Not the kind of company I want to give my business to. read more

Been going to Dr. Hanson's for close to 6 years, now. Every time, I feel like I'm being treated as royalty. Kind, considerate service and care. Had my teeth (and my wife's teeth) straightened, some fillings, a bridge here and there. Super super happy with the staff here. I wish I could give Dr.Benson and his practice a negative 5 stars. This is the worst dentist I have ever been to! My family has been going to him for 5-6 years and I just now figured out what his game is!! He is a good dentist as in He knows what he is doing! It seems like all his work ends up damaging the tooth he works on which in turn he has to perform more expensive procedures like root canals and implants. I believe he is in it for the money. He will take a cavity and fill it then it somehow turns into a root canal and then lo and behold it has a fracture and he has to do an implant!! My wife had a SMALL, I am talking little cavity... which he filled and then later it started hurting her and then he said the tooth could not be filled again and he had to do a root canal which he did. Then after a couple more months and constant hurting she went back and he said it cant be saved and he needed to do an implant. She trusted him and went ahead with the procedure. What the?? I experienced this first hand. I went through pretty much the same thing, I had a cap that fell out and he said he couldn't recap it because it was too far deteriorated and he needed to do a root canal with out thinking of getting a second opinion I agreed to let him perform the root canal and all of a sudden during the root canal he finds a fracture in the tooth!! I whole heartily believe he fractured it while drilling and now it can't be saved. With my tooth drilled out he tells me I need an implant or I need to pull the tooth which is an important tooth that I need to chew with. I ended up going with an implant and all of this was on a tooth that did not even hurt! It just needed a cap replaced!! Now my 22 year old daughter had a cavity last year which he filled then a month later it was hurting and he told her he had to do a root canal on the tooth that started as just had a small cavity!! I her father did not know she had the root canal done. Now not even 6 months later the tooth is killing her and I recommended she go to another dentist and they did a 3D scan and found she has a bad infection because the tooth is fractured!! imagine that!! They told her she is going to need an implant or have the tooth pulled!! Very suspicious don't you think?? This office focuses on professionalism, patient care, and product integrity. Upon arriving, I'm always quickly moved from the waiting area to an examination room, never have I felt "forgotten" here like I have elsewhere. Their receptionist(s) are wonderful and will do their best to work with your schedule to ensure you an appointment. Should you have to cancel they do their best to fit you in elsewhere. As a student I found this to be incredibly helpful. Dr. Hanson and his staff work together to ensure their patients feel at home and immediately extinguish any anxiety.Their relaxed atmosphere along with gentle treatment plans are specifically tailored to each patient's needs, not a "one shoe fits all" approach. They listen. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and up to date on current techniques in the field. Top notch equipment allows them to offer patients the most advanced treatment options available. read more

I am disappointed to have to give this business 1 star. It is not worthy of even that. The unprofessionalism of the staff is of epic nature. I was belittled for asking for nitrous for a filling. Sat in the chair for an hour before being checked on, numbing wasn't efficient and required another injection. Lack of empathy and beside manor. Dental assistant HEATHER was beyond unprofessional and quite frankly laughable. Rises the question of who is doing the hiring here? Overall the length of actual work for TWO fillings was about 10 minutes after waiting over an hour to be acknowledged after Novacaine injections. I had a concern about my bite feeling off and was dismissed as "you're just numb still". All was rushed, no option to ask questions or concerns. Pushed out the door. I left in tears, I wanted to pay what I owed and NEVER come back. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR HEALTH! read more

Again shows what liars they are they have a person Brianna S. who does not even work at the office or even knows anything about what it is about answering online items and just tells you to call the office. Tells you how they run their business. As mentioned stay clear of this place. They are all about getting their money and could careless in reality about customer. I did call the office back and they are very rude when it comes to talking bout account and what the dentist promised. I had a root canal done by them and it did not work and tooth got infected. They told me that I could come in to have it redone but they said they would not recommend it since prob would come back or I could have it pulled. In either case they said they would not charge me for it since it was their work that was shoddy. I went in to have it pulled and the doctor asked me why I was not getting an implant. I told him I could not afford $5K for implant and tooth. He said if I was a candidate he could do it for free since they had a experimental new implant that he needed to try out. I reluctantly agreed and left there with first part drilled in my jaw. So I was to wait 3 months to come back for the crown portion. Meanwhile I get bill for the implant and the extraction of $1800 approx. Well after fighting with them they credited the implant but I still had to pay for the extraction. I did that. Then I ask them well I am not going to have to pay for the rest correct like promised? They told me yes it is $1300 for the crown and said they never told me that they were taking care of it. Which was a total lie because I never would of agreed to it and told them at time I could not afford it and was reason why i was just getting it pulled in first place. During the implant install.process they took pictures etc of my "new experimental implant " so they can sell and get recognition for new design and meanwhile I went thru weeks of pain and now have a metal implant in my mouth for no reason and if I want crown part I have to find someone to do it and pay a fortune. I read the other reviews on here and was frankly quite surprised by them. I found it hard to imagine Dr. Hanson behaving in the manner described; he has on every visit been courteous and professional. I had awful teeth and have been in multiple times to get my teeth fix. It isn't a pleasant experience, but they've been respectful and caring every visit. The one complaint I would have is a lack of understanding of what would happen - the first time they ground down my teeth I was horrified because I wasn't expecting it. But having since gotten my replacement teeth I am SO MUCH BETTER off than I was before. My teeth look great and I can eat without any pain. So, I can't anwser for the two other reviewers experiences. But I would recommend Dr. Hanson and his staff anytime. But don't be afraid to ask questions about what work will be done. read more

So, this was about three weeks ago, but I felt the need to write a review on Dr. Ben Hanson. I was in Michigan, staying with a friend, when I started getting this incredible pain in the back right side of my mouth. Of course, this happens on NIGHT ONE of a 7 day business trip. So I try and soldier on for the first few days. Even call to schedule an appt for the following week with my dentist back home. But by day 3, the pain is so bad, I HAVE to get someone to take care of this. The buddy I'm staying with calls his dentist and they're able to get me in that day because of a cancellation (thank god!). Obviously, you all know where this is going by now. The dentist takes x-rays, and yes, I need an emergency root canal. He is able to take care of it right then and there. Once he numbed the area, NO MORE PAIN! That was a huge relief, and the rest of his work was quick and painless. He gave me a temporary cap after he was done and sent me on my way. Thankfully, my dental insurance was able to cover a lot of the costs, even though it was out of network. It was mildly sore the next few days, but all in all a way, way better and I was able to enjoy the rest of my trip. When I arrived back home, I went to my regular dentist so she could get a permanent crown for me, and she literally said how impressed she was by Dr. Hanson's work! All in all, a huge life-saver, great bedside manner, and excellent work. 5/5 stars for Dr. Hanson. read more

Terrible! The staff and dr. will not let you go back with your child when they are getting work done. The dentist did a terrible job filling the cavity. My daughter did not notice her bite was off because of the numbing shots given. I called and had to wait six weeks to come back in and get it looked at. They charged me $68 to look at their mess. My recommendation is if you are going to use this dentist, wait until your numbing medicine wears off until you leave the office other wise he will charge you $68 to just look at his mess. Very disappointed with the office staff as well as the dentist. Would never recommend this office to anyone! read more

This office was absolutely HORRIBLE. I went there in January of 2018 for a check-up, after Xrays they told me I had 8 cavities that needed filled (later my dentist told me I only had 3that need work). They started with the worst cavity and told me they wouldn't know if it needed a root canal until they were in the process of drilling (have been told by MULTIPLE dentists this is completely wrong, they can tell by an X-ray if it needs root canal). Anyways, they never did the root canal, put a temp crown it and I was on my way. Came back for the permanent crown and another filling, they messed BOTH up big time. The crown was HUGE I went to a board of 3 dentists to be told this is what was causing me pain for a year after. The filling they put in chipped within 3 months of having it. I went back because they have 'guaranteed work for a year'. while there, the dental assistant was paying NO attention to me and stabbing my mouth while doing a cleaning and talking to someone in the hallway. I literally had to grab her hand to stop her. Next, the dentist came in and claimed he 'did the filling next to the one that broke and if I wanted to pay he could fix it'. Mind you, THERE WAS ONLY ONE FILLING ON THAT SIDE. It was the most unprofessional environment I've ever been to, I left in tears and will NEVER be back. Don't waste your money. read more

I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER return here. I originally came to this dentist for a simple checkup/teeth cleaning seeing as my insurance offered minor dental coverage and this place accepted it. I usually went to another dentist, but it was kind of far away so this was more convenient. The tech went through all of the required procedures such as cleaning my teeth and taking x-rays of them. I was then told by the dentist, that I thought I could have put my trust in, that I would need a filling in a few of my teeth, including one of my molars and that it is good that we caught it early so that it wouldn't pose a problem for me in the future. The previous dentist had not mentioned any of these problems as matter of fact, but I figured it was because they had not caught it. Anyway, I agreed and asked how much it would cost. The secretary, then came in and explained the price. I looked at it and was amazed that a couple teeth came out to a total of over $400!! Anyway, I assumed they were a good trustworthy place and decided to go ahead with it. A few fillings later I was pretty excited that I took care of a potential problem and that it was over with (or at least I thought). A few days later in my large molar I started getting sharp pains that radiated down my neck. I knew this feeling was not right and decided to schedule another appointment to go and have it looked at. After a few tests the dentist comes in to look at it, and decides that the tooth THEY INSISTED on me getting a filling in, now needed a root canal because they had drilled too deep. I was upset seeing as I trusted these people with my teeth and they are now trying to show me a bill for what I would have to pay for this root canal (Over $1200 not including the crown!!). On top of everything, after this dentist had already messed up my tooth, he decided that my tooth looked too difficult for him to attempt a root canal on and that he would have to refer me to a specialist he is affiliated with, that would cost me way more than he even charged. Because of the intense pain I was in, I opted to have the root canal at this specialist who is located an hour away from my house (who was absolutely amazing compared to the last dentist). I am still to this day having pains in this tooth all because I was pushed to get a filling in a tooth that I do not believe was necessary in the first place. I am not looking for any sort of compensation from this place seeing as I would NEVER want another procedure performed from here but would like the pain in this tooth to once and for all go away and possibly warn others to get a second opinion before attempting any sort of procedure here. Given the fact that I was only 19 at the time, I took good care of my teeth, and was told by my previous dentist that I wasn't needing any sort of invasive care. I felt that as a result of my age and naiveté at the time, this place took advantage of me.....BEWARE of going here. My tooth now has cracked and is needing to either be extracted or repaired (promising to be an expensive procedure), on what I believed to be a healthy tooth in first place. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! Dr. Ben Hanson should not be in practice. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO HIM!! My 5 year old went to him this morning for a toothache. We found out he had an abscess. Rather than drain it or medicate it they decided pulling it was the best option since it was a baby tooth. The nurse was very kind, she put on the nitrous and kept my son calm. However, when the dentist began injecting the numbing meds my son began crying. The doctor told him to hold still he hadn't even begun yet. He said but you're hurting me. The dentist then proceeded to loudly tell him, while grabbing his cheeks, you are not allowed to cry in my office so stop! Keep in my he has an abcessed tooth and is in pain (WHY WOULD YOU GRAB SOMEONES CHEEKS WHEN THEY ARE SEEING YOU FOR TOOTH PAIN!) This is obviously scary to a child and he continued sobbing. The dentist told him you need to breath through your nose not your mouth. Through his tears he said I can't my nose is stuffy. The IGNORANT DENTIST PUT HIS HAND OVER MY CHILDS MOUTH!! I turned to grab my coat so we could just leave and turned to see the dentist had already yanked out the tooth dropped it on the tray and left the room. OMG!!! NEVER EVER VISIT BROWNSTOWN DENTAL CARE!! Then as we are leaving the office the secretary tells me, the dentist said you need to take him to a pediatric dentist from now on. Really?!? If he thought we would be back he's out of his mind!! Whoever licensed this psycho needs to rethink that decision. read more

Dr. Hanson does very sloppy dental work. The last time I went there I had 2 fillings done on the inside of the front top teeth. During the procedure he got some of the white filling on the front top teeth and it stuck there like a lump. I asked him about it when he was all done and he used the drill to file it off! I told him to stop because I felt it too much. When I got home after the numbing wore off I noticed the teeth felt thick and strange as well as the tooth with the filling overspray felt rough and no longer smooth. A few days later the fillings broke off and left a sharpness. I was concerned and definitely not going back there again so I went to another dentist who said not only is the enamel of the front tooth now damaged but the fillings were not done properly. Dr. Hanson did not bother to remove the excess white filing material after filling the tooth and left the whole backing of the two teeth covered in the material. The new dentist had to file the rest of it off. Not only have I had issues but I just found out that the last filling my daughter had done there was not done properly either. All of the decay was not removed and now (1 year later) the tooth is badly rotted from the inside and had to be redone. We will NEVER go back to this sloppy dentist! read more

I showed up on-time at the office & proceeded to be called a LIAR by the front-desk staff in regards to the time of the appointment that I had scheduled. Hanson made upper and lower dentures for lynn. Twice. Five grand plus. Neither set worked. He said it was her fault. He then blew her off. Then gave name of another dentist to see. You would expect some reasonable result. His services include detures and implants. Yet he could not satisfy his services. He said he could do no more for her. Yet he took the money. Only thing gained was his income.he didn't even want to talk to us. He is the worst. Gives his profession a black eye. See you in small claims ! read more
