What's worse than being at work late at night? Being stuck at work late at night because your lock has decided to stop working. I called Brucar Locksmith at 10:30 pm and requested a quote, and an ETA on getting the lock fixed and going home as soon as possible. I'm not sure who I spoke with, but I was quoted a fair price and was estimated to have a locksmith come by in 30 minutes. By that time I was pretty nervous (and tired) as Brucar's was actually the second locksmith we had called for the night but the other had not come by the time we expected them to. Right on the dot, 30 minutes later, Craig comes by. He was courteous and friendly and also worked quickly. After a quick fix he gave us a price just a little higher than the quoted price. When mentioning the quote, he said he would honor the quote. We also asked for a an estimate for another repair, and he said he would get back to us the next day. Everything was quick and easy, we were able to lock up and leave by 11:30. If you ever have a lock problem I would highly recommend Brucar's as they made an already unpleasant experience go by smoothly and quickly with no fuss. These people saved the day and also saved us $370. If you read my review for the Toyota dealership in Thousand Oaks you'll understand. Joe has solved a variety of our lock challenges. Today his work was especially impressive! He immediately diagnosed why the lock on the gate doesn't always work. No one else noticed that the prior homeowners had installed parts from two different manufacturers. In under ten minutes, Joe replaced the temperamental part. We just hired Brucar to come and install locks on our house. Joe from Brucar is an impressive locksmith. The front door on our house had an expensive lock that had been Jerry-rigged. Joe was able to find the parts for our lock set and fix the lock. For the rest of the house I wanted to order locks online. Joe was 100% helpful in selecting locks and then he returned to install the locks I had ordered. Beyond his outstanding helpfulness, Joe is exceptionally good at what he does. This dude understands locks. He has an acumen, even excited attitude, about locks. I'll even go so far as to call him a lock geek (Joe, if you are reading this, I mean that as a compliment). They made correct copies of my key the first time, and in under two minutes. Their very friendly service and competitive prices made me a loyal customer the first time I visited their shop. They had a large selection of custom keys and I went with the pink cheetah print for my girl. This is an update to my previous review, where I mentioned that they ordered a key from the manufacturer and I never heard from them again. Apparently the key was really hard to find and had to come from overseas, and ended up taking almost 3 MONTHS to arrive. Their friendly staff did eventually follow up with me several times throughout the months, providing me with updates. Finally, I got my keys made. The lock on my patio sliding door needed repair. Brucar scheduled a repair within 24 hours. The repair took all of 10 minutes to complete. I was charged a $55 service call fee PLUS $30 labor. The part was an additional $45. In my opinion, the service fee should have covered the labor. At $30 for a 10 minute job, equates to $180 per hour. Suggest if you want to use Brucar, you request a quote ahead of time. The technician, Frankie, was friendly & courteous as was the receptionist. Hence the 3 stars. read more

This is a great local company. I've used them in the past and they didn't disappoint. I called this morning because the latch on my Baldwin entry lock set appeared broken (Obviously important since you want to be able to use your front door). Debbie got me on the schedule immediately. Frankie came this afternoon. In the past, every few years the clutch on these lock sets has to be replaced. Frankie easily could have charged me for a new clutch as I was fully expecting..... but today he showed me the the old one could be repaired, and he did it for me. I had one of Brucar's locksmiths come out to re-key my new home (you never know how many spare keys are out there). I talked to a very friendly woman on the phone and made an appointment. I asked about spare keys and she was very honest telling me they would be happy to make me some when they come out, or they would be a bit cheaper if I came into the shop later.
