The receptionist and hygienist were very friendly and professional, I was greeted promptly and ushered to a room for my cleaning. Dr. Schafer was very sympathetic to my anxiety about the procedure and made sure that her staff did everything they could to make me comfortable, which I really appreciated. The actual procedure only took 30 minutes for me, and it seemed like it was over in an instant with the IV sedation. I was then sent on my way, and returned a week later to make sure my gums were healing properly. Looking back, I can't believe I made such a big deal about this, it was so easy here! The dental assistants were nice the day of the surgery. That day I left surgery, I peeked into my mouth after the bleeding had stopped and noticed that there was not any stitches on the lower sockets. ( I was a dental assistant/ oral surgery assistant for 4years) I called to see why there wasn't sutures placed and the assistant was not kind to me on the phone. They were treating me like I was some kind of crazy person, and that I was over reacting. Anyway, a couple days later I got a wicked infection on the lowers. I got scheduled to be seen, but upon the phone call to the office they again, were treating me as if I was over reacting. And informed me they would see me " To put my mind at ease". At that appointment it was discovered I did indeed have an infection. ( don't understand how, I followed all the rules, used my medicated mouth wash as directed. ) anyway, I was put on antibiotics for 10 days. I took the full course of antibiotics, 4 days later the pain came back, I had ended up at my primary care doctor and brought it up to her. She informed me that she did still think the infection was there based on how I was feeling, and the looks. I was instructed to go back and see my oral surgeon, they were scrutinizing me on the phone before I could even explain the issue or they scheduled me. The doctor again treated me as if I was dumb, and made me feel like I was a criminal trying to get drugs when all I needed was her to check for infection. The assistants are rude, treat you as if you are a burden: and are only nice to you when they are getting $ from you.

The crown they put on her tooth looks and feels jagged. It is painful and she can't bite down. She said this to the dentist and he shrugged it off. I tried to keep her close to home to ease her anxiety and time involved but it was NOT worth it. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. I was hopeful that things would be made right as the offered a refund for the terrible services that they provided. Not only have we not received the refund, they billed our insurance so now we don't have any insurance benefit remaining to move forward with another provider to get it fixed. Not only that but we specifically called and asked if that dentist was in our united healthcare network and they said YES. This was in fact not the case. It was billed as OUT OF NETWORK. So the cost is insane. Not only will we be filing a grievance with the state, we will also be reporting to United Healthcare and the ADA.

My…read moreold dentist had been doing quarterly cleanings to mitigate ongoing periodontal disease because deep cleanings were not working for me or helping to mitigate periodontal disease. I have had numerous deep cleanings, root scaling and planing. None of that worked. Quarterly basic cleanings WERE working. Lakewood Dentists, specifically Dr's Endress and Yantz are not concerned with helping anyone mitigate periodontal disease. They are only concerned with forcing you to buy their costly and painful deep cleanings, and if you don't, they refuse to treat you any further. I had an agreement with Dr. Endress to continue quarterly basic cleanings and all of that changed when they forced an appointment on me with Dr. Yantz. I never asked for that appointment. Once Dr. Yantz came in, the agreement I had with Dr. Endress changed from quarterly basic cleanings to they would not treat me any further if I did not undergo and purchase their deep cleanings and root scaling treatments, based on Dr. Yant's recommendations. This is a scam Dentist office. They are not concerned with helping patients to mitigate periodontal disease past trying to force you to undergo painful and costly cleanings. BEWARE. THEY are pushy with their upsell tactics, they try to scare you, and then their receptionist berates you and they refuse to treat you and cancel your cleaning appointments if you don't agree to root scaling and planing as part of the basic cleaning. Do yourself a favor. Google dentists scams with forcing you into unnecessary procedures and cleanings. You will find a lot of information on Dentists who practice this type of scam.
