Oral Surgeons are the last thing I thought I would ever take the time to submit a review on, but…read morethe service and care I have received from both Dr. Bush and Dr. Weaver warrant my time. I had an impacted Wisdom tooth and a very large cyst partially removed from my lower left jaw. To further complicate the issue, I had developed a bad infection from that Wisdom tooth. Needless to say, the entire staff from reception, dental assistants, scheduling, and of course the Doctors themselves were very professional, helpful, caring, and had more than enough time for me to ask all my questions and get honest, professional answers. The procedure itself was "a walk in the park" and post treatment instructions were very clear and precise. But what I wanted to comment on, was the follow up I received from CCOMS after my bill was paid and most surgeons would move on to their next patient. I have been back 5 times (within 2 weeks of the surgery) between Dr. Bush and Dr. Weaver for post treatment exams and "check-ups" just to keep an eye on me and how my partial cyst removal is healing..... ALL WITHOUT CHARGE! Never have I been to any type of doctor without being asked for a copay or charging my insurance. Can't say enough how happy I am that CCOMS has been my provider of oral surgery. Obviously I hope I never have to use their services again, but if I do, it will truly be painless.

But his credentials look good so I still considered him. I asked for a second opinion and paid another $150 to talk to Dr. Bush in the same practice. I was willing to do that to get the best care. Ultimately, I chose Dr. Weaver because he is also an MD and I would need to be put under. Today was supposed to be my surgery. I arrived on time and waited in the office for an hour. When I asked what was going on, the reception said they were behind and fixing up two rooms for the other person in the lobby so the surgeon could work on us both. What?? I am here for surgery, not a tandem get er' done fix it. To top it off, at that moment, after waiting an hour, I found out I had been booked with Dr. Bush and not the doctor I had requested! Everything felt wrong, so I asked for a refund and left the office. This is the first time I have felt the need to write a review for a business, it was shockingly bad.

I've been through a complicated journey with facial trauma from a serious car accident years ago,…read morewhere my face hit a metal dashboard. Because of that injury, I needed orthodontic treatment as part of preparation for corrective jaw surgery -- it wasn't cosmetic, it was medically necessary. When I first visited this office in San Luis Obispo, the doctor suggested single jaw surgery instead of double jaw surgery, which would have cut my costs in half. While I appreciated the effort to save money, this recommendation didn't align with my surgeon's plan for proper correction. The office itself raised concerns. Their website and messaging mirrored my original surgeon's office, causing confusion. Months into treatment, after consulting with my surgeon and other specialists to confirm the surgical plan, I received a call demanding $800 for an evaluation fee. Much of this evaluation relied on imaging that was never conducted, and when I questioned it, the response was aggressive and dismissive. Orthodontic care for trauma-related jaw surgery requires close coordination with your surgeon. In this office, that coordination felt secondary to billing and aggressive collection tactics. While the doctor may have been well-intentioned, the office's practices left me frustrated and concerned. If you are dealing with medically necessary orthodontic treatment, especially after facial trauma, I strongly urge caution: Confirm your orthodontic plan aligns with your surgeon's recommendations Get a full itemized breakdown of fees and services Know your rights to transfer or modify care if treatment plans change I'm now back under the care of my trusted surgeon and hope to continue treatment safely. I share this review to warn patients to verify that the office truly supports medically necessary care before committing.

I now consider myself a vintage patient here! Dr. Ian Leopold is hands down the best dentist I…read morehave ever had! I originally saw his father, and Dr. Ian has inherited all the skills and patience that his father had. I also go in regularly for dental hygiene with Maria, and am just as happy with her work to keep my teeth looking and feeling healthy! Maria works quickly and I always walk away feeling like I have a new set of teeth. The office is in a beautifully restored Craftsman style house near Highway 101 and also close to Poly. It is clean, calm and relaxing. The front office staff is also attentive and patient. They can navigate the intricacies of billing and scheduling with cheer and ease. Dr. Ian also works on Saturdays, and they can fit you in should you have a dental emergency. They can also recommend specialists in the area if you need further work like dental surgery. The only downside for me is that they are out of my dental insurance provider, but I still get partial reimbursement. I would never go anywhere else because the quality of the work here is worth paying a bit extra for!

I recommend to NOT base your decision to see Dr. Fitch on the old, negative one-star ratings. I…read morehave been going here for dental treatments since December of 2021 and I cannot think of anything negative to say about Dr. Fitch or any of the employees. Yes, dental treatments can be expensive. That's how it's always been, whether you have dental insurance or not. Dr. Fitch's practice takes almost all insurances and the staff work with you to come up with a financial plan that is doable. There was no way I could afford all of my treatments up front, so we have been spreading them out over the last few months and billing insurance/paying out-of-pocket as we go, and it's been great. Meggan and Lucy are super sweet and take care of all the insurance/billing and appointment questions/reminders for you. All of the RDAs are so gentle and kind. I have *huge* dental anxiety, due to really painful/botched dental treatments in the past and I appreciate that they all go out of their way to help me feel at ease. I wish I remembered all of their names (I think I remember one: Monica!) but I'm a little loopy by the time I get to their office for my treatments ;) I use oral sedation and it makes everything SO much easier. Note: sedation isn't covered by most dental insurances so you'll have to pay out of pocket for that. Worth it! Melissa is a fantastic RDH and is empathetic, gentle, and caring. She gives off the best, nurturing vibe. I really like Dr. Fitch too. He speaks my language (sarcasm), has a sense of humor, and does good work! I never feel pressured by him or feel like I am being "sold" unnecessary treatments. He goes out of his way to show you photos of your teeth and explain why he recommends something. On my first appointment he asked ME what I'd like to see happen. No pressure whatsoever. I am almost done with the majority of my treatments already. I plan to talk to Dr. Fitch about Invisalign, too. I am so thankful to finally have a dentist/dental practice in SLO that I really like! Definitely recommend this practice.

I had been going to this dental place for about 4 years and had extensive work done that amounted…read moreto almost 10k in that time period. At first, I overlooked a lot of things that my gut was telling me. One instance, I inquired about something different from what I came in for, the dentist did work on it right away to my surprise, and of course deducted the cost from my prepaid funds. There were billing errors that happened more than once, being overcharged, even when they say you get a discount. Getting my refund took time because of "corporate" office approval wait. Then I get charged for "periodontal" work $184 when I received basic cleaning - I know full well the difference. I specifically told them that I only want cleaning. With my last appointment I called first to make sure, again she said $184, and I said I want cleaning only then qouted $131. Ok so I go in for basic cleaning, upon being seated, the hygienist said that I'm due for an Xray. I told her I'd rather not at this time as I had extensive work done in their office already. She said my last xray was a year ago. I said it's not necessary, then she calls in the new dentist whom I never met before, and I felt ganged up on both convincing me. I said I'm willing to do it next time or in a year. I asked if they will do cleaning without Xray for now, again they insisted with no regard to what I wanted. So I stood up and quickly walked away. The way they made me feel was awful. This was the final straw for me. I definitely relate to what others are saying about Broad St Smiles. It's a corporate dentistry in which the main focus is to generate revenue as much as possible rather than genuine patient care. Yes, BUYER BEWARE!
