You could tell they were theater folk. and check in was easy. There is a small snack stand but it's better if you go get food before the show. Because pickings are slim. It was hot outside but the air conditioning worked well. So I have no complaints. Enjoyed my experience. Will come back again.

Great little theater off Melrose in the Fairfax area of Los Angeles... bordering West Hollywood…read more You'll notice a white building with a blue sign as well as blue writing on the building and a huge billboard right above of the building (non-related)... There's a small theater space just right of the main attraction/bigger theater - where you might enjoy stage plays, productions and improv as I did the other night in support of my friend Adam L. Haskins and co. Me and my friend Ryan arrive super early and managed to find some meter parking right on Melrose Avenue / Vista Street just before the theater (how we managed that I will never know).. There is residential area parking on the side streets with very few restrictions after 8 PM which is when the show started. When you enter you'll see a cool mural to the left of Hollywood, some outdoor benches and an additional sign right underneath the main doors. They have a single gender neutral bathroom for guest on the outside + 2 other restrooms I'm guessing closer to performance space for performers as well as crew (very common in smaller theaters all over LA). I couldn't say the exact number of seating available when I walked in but with only two to three rows I'd say less than 100 but definitely more than 60...(74 according to their site which is pretty organized). The Improv show was amazing and only about an hour, but they also had a comedy show going on at the same time at the small theater just next door to the Zephyr... The stepped out to ask us to be mindful post show as we were chatting amongst ourselves as well as performers... oddly enough a bunch of sirens went by as they were asking us to politely continue our conversations a few more feet away... I lol'd so hard. If not for knowing one of the performers (technically two) I don't think I would've know of their Open House Improvisation Show with the Turbine Improvisers on the 1st as their social media presence isn't as up to date as their amazing website. For the Improv Open House night they had a suggested donations which I thought was cool - happy to support the arts! Overall definitely would come again and see more performance art of all varieties day or night - hours tend to vary but usually start around 8PM or later from what I've seen on the Upcoming Show list as well as previous ones. The theater is well air conditioned, with comfortable seats, a friendly ticket office employee, and clean bathrooms. I saw an afternoon show for $12. The only downside is scarce parking. Many thanks to the Yelper's tip to park 2 blocks south of Melrose, with signs only for street cleaning days. Finding a spot at night would be more challenging unless you luck out.

The training and acting methods, the teachers, and the students all challenged me to grow as an actor in a safe and supportive environment. I highly recommend both Annie and Diane and their classes. Commercial Workshop with Annie: Even though the workshop is one day, Annie fills the day with such great advice and on-your-feet work. She gives great general audition tips and specific feedback to each person to help you grow. She helps to demystify the types of commercial auditions so you can focus less on "did I do it right" and more on having fun with the audition (which is why we do it!). Advanced Intensive with Diane: Diane is a gem. In a month, she was able to pull out such emotional depth in my performances. She is kind and nurturing in a way that is constructive without being judgmental or mean. You can tell Diane is a teacher for all the right reasons and really believes in all her students. Every student gets different notes and redirects, which also exposes the entire class to so many different tools to use when auditioning or preparing a scene at home. The students in the class also brought such a warmth and generosity to the class, which I think speaks volumes to the types of students that the studio attracts. After this class, I have a clear method for preparing for an audition and feel more confident in myself as an actor!

I was looking for a worthwhile yet affordable acting class and found The Actors Company after…read moreauditing a few other classes in the LA area. I found them through a friend who did a voiceover workshop there, and I am so grateful I did! The acting coach, Joe Salazar, really takes an individualistic approach toward each actor, learning more about them with each class and allowing them to develop in a way that works best for them rather than using a more blanketed or singular approach. He delves into each characters' truths, guides you through building the world in a scene, and understanding what your characters are fighting for. Joe is phenomenal, and one thing I especially appreciated was that he knew how to support you without coddling you and critic you without discouraging you. He and this actor's haven are truly a hidden gem. This is not the type of acting class where you can get by doing only 50% of the work. He expects a lot out of the actors that come in and does not shy away from challenges that ultimately help you realize your potential. They offered snacks in the lobby but no food/drinks allowed when seated. For Baby Foot, they did have a talkback session where you could converse with the actors, which I loved the concept of but unfortunately couldn't make due to dinner reservations. Metered street parking. No valet available. We bought tickets online in advance. I didn't notice a box office. Overall, a great place to watch a show and really get in there right alongside the characters/actors.
