My experiences with auto service shops have not been very good in the past. I have been ripped off for thousands of dollars and therefore my trust with them is limited. I thought that I was experiencing once again here. I took my Mercedes in for just minor service, oil and filter, inspection, etc. The very next day drove home and oil was everywhere, see photos attached. I was obviously pissed and called them and had it towed back. Caleb was calm and let me know he would take care of it. They put it on the lift, located the problem, fixed it, and cleaned up the mess in and around the engine. It was a brand new O-Ring installed on the oil filter that failed. It was one of the rare "shit happens" incidents. He even gave me some oil sand to take home to use to clean up my garage. My trust has been reestablished with an auto service shop. My son's car went in to have the A/C diagnosed. $550 and two trips later, I was told the A/C compressor had to be replaced. Questioned the bill but was told their top master mechanic spent hours diagnosing the problem and so the bill was justified. Decided to have a look myself. I found that the compressor clutch did not move because the compressor was locked up. This took about 5 minutes to reach down to the compressor and feel it with my hand. Since all compressor clutches are freewheeling when not engaged, it's a sure indicator the compressor is bad. No way should this have been missed and it literally should have been the first thing they checked. Should have been one hour of diagnostic time at about $150. read more

Great place for your car. My girlfriend has been getting her Toyota serviced at Bruce's for a few years and was very happy with their performance. I tried to get my car serviced at the local Honda dealer but quickly became uncomfortable with there seemingly lack of knowledge regarding what was needed for my service. I took my car into Bruce's instead. Great people very straight forward. They serviced my car and also advised me on the status of all things on my Honda. Bruce's seems to make a good effort to advise you and save you money instead of trying to up sell you. Took my Kia Amanti into Bruce's to get a leaking fuel line replaced. They talked me into a tune up along with the fuel line replacement. After they got done they left my car with the check engine light on and a bad idling problem (which if you know cars, you know that will shoot your transmission). I spent $850 for my car to end up in even worse condition!! Then, having to take it to another shop since Bruce told me it was no longer their problem, I ended up spending another $450 and they couldn't fix the electrical/idling problem. They even agreed it was neglect on one of the mechanics ay Bruce's part. And now today my car broke down while i was taking my daughter to school! I really should sue this shop but trying to prove them at fault would be a hassle. So the best I can do is warn others to BEWARE OF THIS MECHANIC! read more

I pulled into work one morning and white fumes were coming out from my hood. AAA towed my car to Bruce's -- they were able to take it in immediately. They accurately and quickly diagnosed the source of the fumes and found another problem. They had the main problem fixed immediately that day, and a few days later they fixed the other problem (minor oil pan leak). Their bill came in at or below their estimates. They were fast and reliable. They were able to get my car in right away. They kept me posted on progress and car readiness via text messages and voicemail messages. Great service. I don't know about these other reviews, but Bruce's has always gone above and beyond for me. I take them my newish Corolla for normal stuff, and they turn up problems like mice droppings in a filter that had me about to tear the car apart for stink. I also took them an ancient Toyota pickup I was ready to throw away, and they fixed it for another 5 to 10 years. I've been with them off and on for 18 years (moved away for a few years) and, for Toyotas at least, these guys are superb! read more

Got a new car that is a POS. Had to have a lot of work done right away like a new tranny and radiator I went to tranco transmission in PA and they recommend Bruce's to have the Coolant flushed well it was in bad shape and he gave me a good deal because I had to get it done 3 times to get all the gunk out. When I need my breaks done which will be soon I will definitely be going back to him he seems fair and got in right away. read more

I have been going to Bruce's Automotive for YEARS. In August of last year I took my car in for some regular maintenance like tune up, oil change, belt replacement etc. After all the work was said and done I paid $500. I noticed my car was not idling properly and it was very sluggish when I stepped on the gas and a part on the front that keeps the engine quiet was missing a bolt. Which was odd because this was not the case prior to all the work. When I addressed the issue with the staff at Bruce's I was pretty much shrugged off. Come to find out they had replaced my spark plugs with very low quality spark plugs that are NOT recommended for use in my vehicle because they cause poor performance, they did not put those spark plugs in with anti-seize lubricant which increased the risk of the sparks plugs breaking off into the engine and they also did not use boot grease when putting on my plugs so when I went to have them replaced the boots broke. I had to replace all of it. Now my car runs a lot better. I feel that Bruce's has gone down hill to the point where if you take your car in they may fix it, or leave you shelling out more money for repairs they neglected to do properly. read more

I highly recommend you avoid this "mechanic" at all costs. I took my car in three times due to an inordinate amount of antifreeze usage for my Subaru. I was assured the water pump had been tested and the only problem was a leaky radiator cap. The last time I had my car there on June 20th, the workers were replacing engine seals and had the car up on blocks with perfect visualization of the engine block. Somehow they missed an obvious trail of antifreeze indicating a failing water pump. As a result, less than 2 weeks later, the pump failed, my car overheated, had to be towed to another mechanic who not only replaced the water pump but then had to repair a blown head gasket due to the overheating and which cost me an additional $1500. Bruce denied any responsibility, pretty much called the other mechanic a liar. Very poor cutomer service and owning up to his mistake. read more
