First off, working with her was a dream. She was always extremely attentive when it came to communication, both via text and email. I don't think I'd go more than 24 hours without hearing from her, which is something rare now a days for some reason. Also, she breaks down prices concisely, which I really appreciated because there were no hidden fees or surprises when it came to the grand total. She also works with you from start to finish, scheduling an initial planning meeting (this took place at our venue) where she listens and jots down what you expect as well as adding her own artistic design/thought. She even took charge and kept in constant communication with my venue manager, which took a lot of stress of my shoulders. The day of the shower, the dessert table was absolutely beautiful! The desserts were intricate, unique, DELICIOUS, and you can just tell she put in so much effort when it came to every aspect. I got so many compliments on this. I expressed to her that the reveal would be from the cupcakes and agreed on a deep blue icing to match the theme. Day of the event she was extremely late for the set up, showing up only 20 mins before the party and was still setting up when the guests arrived. After they finish setting up, she tells me that she didn't do the blue icing filling for the cupcakes so now I have nothing to reveal! I was furious! She didn't bother to use her table linen and left the existing one already on the table. We had to scramble and buy another prop to use for the reveal. I expressed my disappointment and that I wanted at least a partial refund but of course never heard from her again. She was also late picking up her equipment when we accommodated her to pick up the next day. For the amount paid, the service was truly lacking. If you're planning an event, go with a real professional instead.

The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 has nothing to do with Teena or the venue itself. My only concern was the surrounding area. While unloading decorations, we were approached by a homeless individual who was shouting nearby, which was a little unsettling. Parking was also somewhat limited, and I found myself worrying about our guests. Having worked in Northridge about 10 years ago, I remember it feeling much different than it does today. That said, this isn't a reflection on Teena or Athena Event Studio. She was an outstanding host, and the venue exceeded my expectations. When I called to ask if they could assist us, Carolina was so warm and friendly over the phone--she just told me to come by anytime. The moment I walked into the store, I was immediately impressed with all the beautiful gowns and accessories on display. Even though Carolina was still helping another customer, she acknowledged me right away and kindly asked me to take a seat for a moment. I could see how happy her customer was with the service she gave them. After she finished, Carolina greeted me again with a big smile and even gave me a friendly beso. Shortly after, Michael called me and we talked about my party and what I was looking for. I saw on the site, they also offer Photobooths so I asked if it was possible to make a slight change to the photobooth and personalize it a bit for my party and sure enough, they were able to accommodate! I booked a DeeJay and Photobooth package. I got directed to their client login site (awesome) and I was able to include music, change and edit the timeline and add special requests of music. That client site made it so easy to plan my party the way I wanted it to be. DJ Cali was my DJ, she showed up looking gorgeous for my fancy birthday and she was ready to hype up the party as needed. All the music I had asked for were played and during our special dance...the Dancing on Clouds added such an emotional touch to our heartfelt song. It was BEYOND BEAUTIFUL!
