There are real cooks here who know how to cook. The surprising thing for us was we didn't even know the harbour existed let alone the Towers restaurant. We only learned this in the local town hall when we went in on Monday to buy tickets for their swing night on the Friday. The staffer originally from Belfast was a great tourism ambassador. On our first night at this place I opted for linguine. I kept it light and vegetarian. My wife opted for cod & chips with mushy peas & tartare sauce. Boyso, the biggest piece of fried fish we've ever been served. It was delicious and I got a piece. The mushy peas were excellent too. There were two problems that need some re work though; the fish batter was a good beer batter. It was crispy thin delicious on serving, but sadly it didn't stay crisp for the time it took to eat the cod. The skin on chips should also have been cooked a bit longer. On another night, my wife opted for their chicken tikka masala, which she liked (good 3 star). I had seafood chowder with a dense delightful brown bread, served with butter and 6 Clew Bay oysters served with a raspberry vinaigrette. I do prefer plain fresh lemon, white pepper and red Tabasco. I'd put the chowder 5 star and the oysters 3 to 4 star. The oysters are priced top end - I wouldn't buy them again. On yet another night my wife had their sirloin steak (€28.5) with all the fixings and the steak and pepper sauce were really top notch. The skin on chips were done perfectly that night. I didn't manage to eat it all while to batter was crispy. We had excellent coffees two nights and truly delicious espresso martinis on our last night. The view outside was wild beauty; stunning. We would go back in a heart beat. They should address the poor to non existent WiFi. Seems if the weather is poor so is the WiFi. It's the west of Ireland folks so the risk of poor weather is September thru March annually. Yes I know when folks are dining they shouldn't be going on line but it's as essential as serving great food.

This was my FAVORITE meal in Galway!…read more It was my first time in Ireland - was visiting for business trip and we stayed in Galway for a few days and got to try several restaurants in the area. This was my favorite restaurant because of the AMAZING seafood. The raw oysters were super fresh and it was fun getting to see the manager show us how to shuck oysters (he used to compete in oyster shucking contest and was ranked pretty high!). The steamed mussels and crab claws were also delicious. Ending the meal with cheesecake was great! The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel like you are visiting a friend's home for a nice meal. Highly recommend checking out this restaurant if you are in the area and are looking for amazing seafood!

People after us were directed to the bar for open seating. The seafood chowder was rich and filling. Mixed oyster plate came with three Gigas and three natives (5 years to grow) but we couldn't agree on which was the best. Moran's featured half a dozen different cold platters and we ordered the smoked salmon which consisted of plate sized slices topped with a salad and a scoop of crab. The Marie rose dressing was delicious and made this salad one of our favorites of this trip. Lastly their Irish soda bread was the best we've eaten and wished we could've gotten a loaf to take with us. The good service, great food and eclectic ambiance made for a nice Easter Sunday meal.
