Boy this is a tough review... for food alone, this was a 5 star or more . I love Bruno's and have eaten their pizzas for more than 30 years. Sad to hear the original location closed, but the food at the downtown shop was fantastic! Prices are great too. That said, I won't come back to dine in. Having reviewed many a pizza joints, I had to add a South Bend pizza review. Since we stayed at the Courtyard about 1 block away we ordered a few pizzas since we had a pretty decent sized party and the restaurant looked quite small. Figured 1 block away it wouldn't take long, however we were wrong on that. This place is either super busy on a Saturday night, or super slow. I'd say they are quite busy on Saturdays. Once the pizza finally arrived I couldn't wait to try one of each we had ordered. The cheese pizza was somewhat greasy from the cheese. Pizza was exceptionally sweet. If you like sweet pizza sauce this is your place. Sweetest I've ever had. Pizza Undercarriage was done well however there wasn't any snap or crisp to it at all. Now on to the stuffed pizza. Same sweetness from the cheese pizza. Again, has to be that sauce which is a dark red sauce, good tomato flavor, just very sweet. Cheese was again slightly greasy. This stuffed pizza also has no real snap, just a chewiness. One slice of this stuffed pizza and you are filled up. Very, very filling. I actually preferred the stuffed pizza to the regular cheese pizza. All in all, pretty slow to get the food 1 block away, very sweet sauce, definitely distinguishable. While I am not a big fan of sweet sauce, I had to rate accordingly. read more

Holy crap this pizza sucks. I got a combo #1 which was 2 slices with a fountain drink. They were out of pepperoni, so I got pepperoni and sausage. We live near at least three big chain pizza places, but I'm happy to make the drive to get Bruno's, because when I bring it home, everybody's happy! Some people seem to complain about the sauce, but they're way wrong! Bruno's has the best sauce, toppings, and sides, and even when I mention the name, everybody lights up. Simple sit down/take out type restaurant. Pizza is very good and cooked to perfection. They have various specials and slice deals. This location is very busy specifically take out. I dined at Bruno's for the first time on a weeknight around 530. Service was fast, the prices appropriate. The pizza was sold by the slice, and even though it was not made to order, it tasted fresh. Their pizza has a nice flavor, much different from typical fast food pizza. Update* I visited SBend on business recently and had Bruno's delivered via Grub Hub. I was tentative about using a 3rd party service, but the pizza was delivered quickly. My order was accurate and reasonably priced. I love the flavor of Bruno's sauce and all ingredients. I have been to four different Bruno's Pizza. My usual was closed so I gave this a try. I am SO happy i did! This is hands down one of the best pizzas I have ever had - that is saying a lot since i am 62 and pizza is my favorite food. Ordering was easy. Parking outside the restaurant was no problem. Got this pizza home and it was still steaming hot. I had a sausage pizza. The sausage is an excellent blend and very flavorful. Perfect amount of sauce. Crispy crust on the thicker side. Hubby had ham onion and green pepper and it was cooked to perfection. Inside was spotless. Staff was quick to ring me up and got out within minutes. Needless to say, this will be my regular pizza place. Highly recommend. This coming from a regular Bruno's customer who tried this location for the first time. read more

I drove a long way to eat this pizza. That's not their fault though! Everything about the actual pizza was good; the cheese, sausage and pepperoni tasted amazing. The sauce is thicker and rich, but good. I ordered their 2 slice and drink deal for 7 bucks, which is pretty good, although they didn't have anything other than sausage and pepperoni pies. These pizzas were stored in a warmer and were absolutely overcooked (you could really tell on the crust of the pizza as it was crunchy rather than doughy). I threw out the crust, but the body of the pizza was very good. I'd go again but I'd order a fresh pizza made for me. read more

The BEST pizza in Indiana! My husband and I drive 2.5 hrs once every six months just for their Chicago Deep Dish! The sauce is so sweet and delicious and the crazy amount of cheese is to die for.
