Our team absolutely lucked out staying at a hotel next door to JC's! We were in town for a tournament and ordered to our hotel pizzas and salads for 20 hungry 12yo boys and their families. This was hands-down some of the best pizza we have had! Saying the owner, Jesse, went above and beyond to make sure all went smoothly is an understatement. He and his staff (special shout-out to Rachel) were friendly and courteous. I am very much looking forward to being in the area again and dining in next time. Where do I even begin? Our server even called this place a dumpster fire! The only positives I can say is that the food is good but the service is horrendous. MANY patrons were MAD. We waited for over an hour to be seated (when the gal at the front said we'd be seated right away) then we waited for 2 hours for our food and when we get it, it's missing several ingredients...because they're out. Oh and the best part is when all the cooks left the kitchen and sat in a circle in the dining room for 15 or so minutes. The owner was also there...sitting at the bar with a drink. Why wasn't he helping bus tables, cook, GO TO THE STORE TO GET INGREDIENTS THEY RAN OUT OF??? This was during their busiest rush. What in the world???? Service was good, very friendly and kind servers. Garlic knots were reheated and not warmed all the way through, tepid inside and needed more color on the dough. Salads were good, the jalapeno ranch is tasty. Pizza was floppy and undercooked. "Roasted" onions on the pizza were only partially cooked and still tasted raw - not what we expected. Sausage and pepperoni were tasty but the pepperoni cups needed more time in the oven. The edges of the dough were cooked through but barely. Disappointed, coal fired pizza should be crispy with a touch of char. This pizza was already sliced and needed another 3-5 minutes in a hot oven. read more

What a fantastic find!!! We were in town for a softball tournament, staying at the hotel next door. Jesse, owner, is awesome!! He went above and beyond! Most of the food was good. Their crust on their pizza had a good crisp and nice flavor. However, their service the two times I've been there has been lacking. The first time, they dropped our pizza off at another table and didn't notice until the people at the other table already started eating. We had to wait another 20 minutes for our food, which was then incorrect. The second and probably last time I went, again they got the pizza wrong, we got checked on probably a dozen times but were not actually waited on. They didn't give us enough plates, they put spicy marinara sauce when we asked for regular, and their Diet Coke was flat, even after asking them to replace the syrup. I would rather just get Pizza Hut than deal with this place. At least I get what I pay for. read more

I don't even know where to start. We were seated promptly and that's about the only positive thing that happened. We ordered a medium pizza, a beer and a Coke. The waitress dropped off the drinks and said the pizza would "be right up". We waited 50 minutes. Empty drinks and the waitress never stopped back by. We finally got the waitresses attention to ask for a refill, again almost an hour after sitting down. She brought a pizza. It was cold. Not warm, not cool, COLD! I was still waiting for the beer. So 20 minutes after the pizza came, we finally got the beer. By this time we were done eating. We asked for the bill. Oh and that beer that we waited 30 minutes to get? It smelled like a mildewed wash rag. Disgusting. Probably one of the worst experiences we have had in this area. You could not drag me back to JC's Coal Oven Pizza. There are so many better places in this area to get quality food and service, don't waste your time or money going here. read more

I like having another pizza option! We sat at the bar and couldn't decide on our pizza choice, so we got 2 (Capolini and Hot 'n Honey) and the meatball appetizer. Everything was really good. My only criticism is that the hot honey was put on with too heavy of a hand. Next time I'll order it light on the honey or honey on the side with extra pepperoni. Staying in Mishawaka for work and I wanted to find some good pizza. Thanks to my fellow Yelp crew, I found JC's only two miles up the road. My order was a draft beer, Oma's side salad with Bleu cheese dressing, and a personal pizza with sausage, olives, and banana peppers. The salad was awesome, and the Bleu cheese dressing was the best I've ever had. It wasn't too chunky, but also wasn't that creamy bullshit from a bottle. The blue cheese dressing alone is worth the visit. The salad had thin slices of salami, croutons, veggies, and it was a nice size. The pizza was also very good, and I really loved the ground sausage and big banana peppers. The sauce was good and you could tell the dough for the crust is made fresh daily! Service was wonderful at the bar table, with plenty of TV's, and the owner/manager greeted me and bid me farewell on the way out. That's the sign of someone who not only cares about their business, but they also care about the people coming through the door. Bravo to the team.
