Currently we are under a state wide indoor mask mandate. The employees at Bruno's either do not understand how to wear a mask, or are too stupid to wear one properly, or "freedom". Of the six employees I saw today (12/19/2021) three were not wearing masks at all and two had the masks pulled down under their noses. To make matters worse this market is frequented by senior citizens, the most vulnerable to infection. Voting with my wallet, never ever again for this market that appears to be clearly in danger of closing given the stock levels and lack of customers. Five stars for Marcie at the deli. I had not met her before, but have to write a review for exceptional, thoughtful service. She went above and beyond to fulfill my order, slicing some sharp cheddar and muenster (both are good deals and turn out to be good cheese.) Before starting, she checked with me about thow thick/thin I wanted the slices. Then I was surprised to see her change her glove for each trip to the slicing machine. Often people forget to change into clean gloves when handling food. She was pleasant and friendly. The rest of the store has lots of variety and an inviting International Foods group of free-standing display/aisles. Ladies' restroom reliably clean and available. Some prices are higher -- but seems they're higher in a lot of places lately. Thanks to Marcie, I feel good about going to my store and asking for help at the deli counter. read more

I brought my parents home from my father having an unexpected stay at the hospital. When I brought him home Wednesday night all seemed good but Thursday morning my mom discovered only 1 roll of tp in the house and she couldn't leave my dad to go to the store. I live 200 miles away and didn't know what to do to help. I remembered that my parents shop at Brunos and I thought "its worth a try to ask". I called and asked the manager Carlos if there was any way possible some toilet paper could be delivered to my parents home about 1/8 mile away. He said he was leaving shortly and would drop it off at my parents' home. I cannot thank you enough Carlos-its been a tough week on our family and something as small as toilet paper being dropped off made my mom cry happy tears. We visit Bruno's twice a year when we camp on Memorial and Labor Day weekends. This is our go-to spot for ice ($2.99 for a 10lb bag) and anything else we might have forgot to bring up. Compared to the other grocery in town this place is much better. We've found that the other outlet did not have many things we were looking for- including bottled water, marshmallows and graham crackers! Service is always slow when we visit but one cashier is probably typical for late on a Saturday evening. One of the things I like about this location is there is a Tutti-Fruitti inside. It's always a nice treat when we stop for ice. read more

I need to give a a shout out to Bruno's Shop Smart in Lakeport. During the PSPS they were amazing! They opened on generators so they could be there for us. During this current Shelter in Place #SIP they've stepped up their game! They have wide aisles without having "stuff" blocking them. They have sanitizing wipes for the carts, masks for the employees, and clean the check stands between customers. Their shelves are stocked and they even had an Easter Ham on sale!! I really appreciate the work they're doing to ensure that we, and the employees, are safe. I give Bruno's 2 stars because the supermarket is huge and has just about everything. I would have given it more stars, however the price of a bag of Ranch flavored Doritos was $6.99. I about needed some smelling salts as I almost passed out at that price. Chips that expensive, when other grocery stores in the area are selling them for decent prices. The primary reason we went in here was because of the rad stack of hot sauces they had in a Yelp review. There's a specific sauce I've been obsessed with recently from Belize called Marie Sharp's; which is hard to find but this place had it. So I bought a few bottles and proceeded to pick up food for dinner while we were camping at the nearby trailer park/reenactment site of several COPS episodes. What i was very surprised in was the prices at this place. They didn't seem to realize that it resides in an area where I can only imagine the median income is measured in meth, and charged an absurd amount for even the simplest groceries. Regardless, their hot sauce selection was quite impressive, but otherwise I'd stick to shopping at Grocery Outlet next door. read more

Big Store. If the Manager was smart he would lower a lot of his prices and get the customers that are going to Grocery Outlet. Grocery Outlet is packed for a reason. Funny how A store owner would not catch on to that? Even have Baked Chickens for like $4.00 and you would make a killing! It is better then not selling any at all! Garrett at the meat / seafood department was wonderful when I went shopping earlier. The department was out of small fillets of salmon with nothing less than huge chunks, I didn't need something that big so I asked the man behind the counter for some help. He asked questions on what I was looking for, and then suggested a different type of fish that he had just gotten in that day that was very fresh. He cut me two really nice fillets of fish, wrapped them nicely, and came around the counter to hand them to me personally. He was very knowledgeable polite, and genuinely Seemed like he cared about me getting a good piece of fish. I know it seems small, but I had had a long day and wasn't feeling particularly well and his small gesture of kindness really made a good end to my day. read more

My family has always enjoyed shopping at this store as a best meeting place. I viewed the video during the last week of July as the store was surrounded with a wildfire! We hope that this store has somehow survived and many more find a way to a safe location to escape the fire. God help us all. A little history here folks. Bruno's used to be located a little to the East of it's present location. The building they are now in used to be the old K-Mart store, henceforth the wide ailes, and the spaciousness of the store. And they do have a much better selection of wines than anyone else has in town. In this store I found 3 more 2003's and 1 2002. Now that makes 11- 2003, 3- 2002 and 2- 2001. Now the best part is that's a lot of good sipping wine. I paid no more than 11.95 average per bottle. Cheapest Husch cab today goes for 20.00, and that's a 2004. read more

The aisles are spacious and well-laid out. Their prices are very competitive with the local Safeway. They have a food court that fill the store with sweet aroma. My only qualm is that the cashiers take their sweet time scanning and bagging products. I suppose its a small town charm when I am in the mood for it. read more

Have to be careful at the fresh foods especially the dairy. Tendency is for stock to wait around and warm up to curdle. Waste of time and money that way. That being said they stock things not available in other stores like Apple Cider Vinegar with veil of mother in it as well as Organic Juice in the glass. read more

Stopped there to pick up a couple things as we were nearby and didn't want to head to Safeway. Outrageously high prices, and the place was dead at 6pm on a monday. 6 packs of 24 ounce pepsi bottles were 5.29. safeway has them for between 2.50 and 3.50 daily. Overall, spent over 20 dollars on a loaf of bread, two tomatoes, a head of lettuce, and half a gallon of ice cream. It would have cost half the price at any other store. read more

This is a really good store. It is big, it has everything you need, and the lines are a lot faster and easier to get to than Safeway. I bought locally grown pears the last time I was there. And now they have a little frozen yogurt place next to the customer service counter. So it's a full service store and all of the staff are really friendly, it still has a small town homey feel. read more

Bruno's was purchased by Oregon based Ray's a few years ago. Its now ShopSmart Food Warehouse. Excellent selection, excellent service, very good prices. I used to shop at the local Safeway, but moved to Bruno's when Safeway was going thru labor negotiations and the Safeway people had major attitude problems. I've never looked back! Prices are comparable to Safeway, but there is a greater selection in the meat and produce sections, the bakery is run by the former owner of the Main Street Bakery and it puts out great baked goods, things you can't find in Safeway. Friendly employees always ready to help and at the check out, they unload your cart instead of having you do it (old fashioned service.) If there is anything you can't find they will usually special order it for you if you ask at customer service, something Safeway does not do. Even though no longer locally owned, still has the friendliness of a small town store. read more
