I've been grabbing sandwiches at the bottle shop for over 20 years. This place somehow seems to get better with age in a world where everything is deteriorating rapidly. The sandwiches are somehow better than I remember every time, the staff is friendly and efficient. The store is incredibly clean and well maintained. This place is has the best Italian sub for fifty miles in any direction. In fact, all of the sandwiches are good. The shop is cute and has a nice selection of beverages. The service is usually very fast. The employees can be a bit short and are not always that friendly. Might be that they have Fox News or Newsmax on the television and are wound pretty tight. Without the politics in the room this would be one of my favorite places. Maybe that's your thing though... read more

We picked this place while driving down 101 and we started to want lunch. Yelp led us here and when we drove in, for a second I thought we were at the wrong place. This is liquor store, I thought, not a deli. Good thing there's an Italian place next door where we can get a sandwich, we thought. After a second we realized it was a liquor store (really wine and beer) AND a deli, so we scope it out, liked the looks of the place, the salads under the counter, and ordered. It was very good. Great bread and quality ingredients make for a good sandwich and this one was very good. I'd stop here anytime again if in the area. Service was efficiently and friendly. We ate just outside on one of the 3-4 concrete picnic tables in front of the place. My only regret is not trying the chili which was a seasonal special. read more

My partner and I love a good sammich! We stumbled upon The Bottle Shop, and were immersed into a retro mom and pop shop. The place just looks like the place for good sandwiches. Plus there's a variety of chips and grab-n-go drinks. The customer service was great and the owner even let me take some film photos of the place. The owner was rude, the staff don't seem to be treated well and are unfriendly to each other, and the TV is always playing Fox News too loud. I get the impression it is not a very comfortable place to be a race, gender, or s**ual minority. They're entitled to their beliefs, but that doesn't mean we want to see them or have them shoved in our faces. The sandwiches are tasty, though. I'm still not going back. read more

Excellent sandwich shop. We come to Clearlake a few times a year from Southern California and we make the extra 40 minute drive to Ukiah just for these sandwiches. Definitely a must stop. Best sandwiches in towns hands downs! This is one of those gems that you must try if you are swinging by or if you're stopping by for whatever the heck reason. This place is a good reason to stop by!! The staff is always super friendly and will help you out with whatever your crazy needs are. They also have a pretty wide selection of wines and whatnot. Just go in there and take a wipf and then order twenty sandwiches. You won't regret it! You might regret it. I've never seen anyone eat twenty sandwiches. Even over a period of several days. I used to frequent this business and enjoy it. More recently the service has gone down and there is a bunch of cranky older staff in there working that do not appear happy. When I went in it was like everything was an inconvenience for them to offer service. Also, the prices are way over the top expensive and the sandwiches have less meat all the time. Best deli sandwiches in town! I always get the pastrami, cheddar, avocado or the pulled pork and I have yet to be disappointed. I love adding the Mendo Mustard, they're the reason I even know what Mendo Mustard is. The bread is always soft and fresh. The sandwiches are the perfect size. Definitely one of my favorite quick stops in this place, always friendly from the front and the amount of stuff aside from the deli they had was immensely impressive. The only critique I have was how to order, since when I had gone was busy, but once that was figured out I really enjoyed it. Since I'm new in the area, I really don't know the good places that the locals go to. Luckily, I was with a local and it was lunchtime. He suggested The Bottle Shop for quality and speed. I ordered a large sandwich, which is extremely LARGE! The bread was fresh and flavorful. The meat was lean and tasty. They have a good selection of cheeses as well. The price is a tad high if you compare it to chain sandwich shops, but here you get fresh and quality ingredients. The large sandwich can feed two people easily. They also sell lots of different types of drinks,hence the name. read more
