A campground that you'd never discover by driving by. Peaceful and on the water. Perks are kayak rentals and tubing and a majority have water front/view. Not bad pricing. Nice staff and friendly neighbors. The not so good --- do not Ever, and I mean ever, reserve A06. The smallest campsite and worst one!! Has a view but far too close to the neighbor right next to our picnic table. Check out the pics. The first one is ours. The second one are most others.

Stayed here after a 54 mile ride on the towpath from Georgetown. It's a great stopover point close to the city of Brunswick and has pretty much all you need. As I was bikepacking, I used the hiker/biker field to setup my tent. I heard from other sources that you could smell the dumpster if you camp in the fields. I did not experience that at all! The field is large enough that you could camp near the courts and have about a hundred plus yards in-between you and the dumpster area. Also time of season may also play a role in the smell. Height of summer where everyone's camping could increase the quantity of trash and subsequent smell. I camped here at the end of Oct in 30-40 degree weather. Sound is typical of the towpath. There are train tracks with active trains that pass through on the other side of the towpath, approx 200 yards away. From my stay, they've been infrequent. When they move by though, you will hear them in the fields. To me the sound isn't so loud, but for a light sleeper, I recommend earplugs. I would rate this place 5/5 as this is a great camping spot with amenities close to the city. If you're traveling the towpath to Cumberland it is a reasonable distance and a great stopping point for the day. Other spots at 40-50 mile intervals don't have the same resources or access. So this is one of the best if you need to get to Cumberland in 4 days. The only knock I have is that the fields cost a whopping $20. On the brochure it said $9 discounted amount for hiker/bikers along the towpath, but due to limited space they got rid of this. When I got here the field was pretty much empty. Other private campgrounds for hiker/bikers range from $10-15, so I had to dock a star

Very cozy, and clean area to go RV camping and tent camping. The toilets and showers were clean, and Kelly the manager is so helpful, and welcoming. Definitely will be returning and recommend this place for any one wanting get away from the hustle and bustle life for a weekend. We got a tent side next to the river.

Where we think that putrid smell is coming from right next to the camp site

Camped here for 2 nights in 9/2020. The camp site is located right next to a sewage plant. With every gust of wind, the sewage smell blew right to our camp site. It was cringe worthy. The site is also next to a busy train station. On top of all that, there is construction and they were working all hours of the night. The machines were so loud, we could barely sleep. No grills to cook food, so be sure to bring ear plugs, nose plugs and a grill to camp We also thought we'd be camping alongside the river, but there is a forest in between.. so the website was really misleading. Way over priced for four people for two nights. We will not be returning to this camp ground again.

Doesn't look like much when you get here, but give it a minute and you'll never want to leave‍‍‍ First day we arrived late, late and our reservation had been canceled ... The host Louise still found us a spot, told us to call in the morning and let them know we arrived. It is in the COUNTRY so the service was not the best, but we figured it out. I am not going to lie I thought I was going to spend my next 13 weeks in hell. I was not use to this type of campground, when I say this type I'm talking about not the best Wi-Fi but as I said we figured that out (wireless home internet with t-mobile) and the sweetest girl Susanna from the office even came to help me set up my signal booster) it's in the country on a gravel road, it's small, no pool, no laundry facilities etc. So let's fast forward 8-9 weeks in and I started to like the place it was quite, out of the way, I have a yard they don't mind me planting flowers (in pots) or having a fence for my dogs!!! By far here the staff here is amazing very helpful and go out of there way to help you. I had not been on a bike in 20 years and they got me to ride and I loved it!! We bought bikes!! And who needs a pool!? The river is sided to the campground so you can hop in for a swim or drop your kayak in and paddle down to Point of rocks( you need to schedule a pick up or do your own transportation) also you can walk up a path and float down or take a short kayak trip ‍ right here in the campground. Also the C&O Canal is right here, hope on a bike for a swift ride to "Harpers Ferry" or a walk. There's so much to do here they have tennis, basketball, bike rentals, tube rentals and more! I love seeing everyone pile in on the weekends and actually have family time! Kids playing and people tent camping, lots of scout trips I see, I've even seen people having reunions at the pavilion. Over all I'm in love with this place! The staff themselves are tight nit and I love that most of all they have let us be a part of there little circle. Anything I need or when I'm having a melt down they are there to help! Shout out to Louise for taking up with my crazy, Susanna for everything you do and help us with, and Hans for all my paperwork needs! You guys are appreciated beyond measure!

    Swiming is fun here!

We had a great time here. Yes, there is a train track nearby but honestly...not bothersome. The trains go by slowly. Great place to camp via tent or RV etc. They have everything you need to float on the water. Canoes, kayaks and tubes. All rentals. You can choose a site with electricity or none. There is also a volley ball net set up. And a boat ramp for those that need one. All in all we had a great weekend. Bonnie was a wonderful host! ** Do not go there if you think drinking all night and being a jackass is your idea of fun** It is a wonderful place camp and chill and enjoy nature. Biking on the C&O canal is must! It's right there! If you don't have a bike they have rentals available. Last but not least DOG FRIENDLY! Pups can swim right there in the river. Great for star gazing and amazing sunrises and sunsets

This is a review I had to write! First thing I must say, the staff was excellent and the bathrooms were clean. After that, it goes down hill quickly. We chose to visit the property spontaneously and camped in the tent only area (to the right when driving in). This place is really tight and packed with people! The worst thing period are the trains that parallel the campground. It is so loud and it runs 24hours a day. I see other reviews that mention they don't bother them, but I honest can't believe that (not to mention, they only have one or two reviews total, sketchy)! This is not just a single train track, this is a station where they connect or remove cars from the train. The braking and cracking noise is intolerable. Next are the cars and people walking and driving up and down the road all night. They have to honestly, to reach the facilities. My wife and I literally got two hours of total sleep! I will post pictures after submitting this review. I hate being so negative but I don't want anyone to make the same mistake we did.

    Coolest place ever

Kelly is so wonderful and busy bee cabin was absolutely STUNNING. It was clean when we arrived, spotless actually, my family and I went canoeing and couldn't of asked for a better getaway. Kelly was the cherry on top of the camping trip after Chatting on our last night ! I can't wait to come back every year or even in a couple months lol

What a great spot to camp! Got one of their new cabins for the night after a long day on the C&O Canal trail. Staff was super friendly, and they even went out of their way by finding a small bag of ice to ice-down my ankles. Plenty of hot water at the showers too! Camp store was well stocked and the half-priced ice cream was an unexpected treat. Great location on the river, just bring your earplugs at night for the trains running nearby.

Flexin' on em in Sherwood Forest.

I feel the price is a bit high as the amenities offered are the same as the regular cabins ($80-$85 per night). The firefly did just recently add a window AC unit and one electric plug prior to our stay. There are no lights so a lantern is still needed. We didn't use the charcoal grill as it was rusted, we opted for cooking on the fire instead. They do not allow outside firewood and they charge $7 a bag for wood and $5 for kindling. Unfortunately their firewood was very thinly chopped, maybe 1-2 inch slivers so the firewood didn't last long. The shower and bathrooms were clean and close to the campsite which we enjoyed. The area felt very safe. Though there appeared to be a ring camera with lights just above the open showers which I found a bit odd, I assume it was pointing to the other side of the building. Easily accessible dumpster and water for cooking/washing dishes. Parking is very hard to come by so if you bring more than one vehicle this may be a problem. The cabin was well kept, clean and comfy mattresses. Lights didn't work on the upper balcony but we enjoyed the lower deck. The only thing I found off putting were over kill on signage around the campsite. Quiet hours with a $250 fine for noises past 11pm or before 7am, signs regarding usage of amenities .... It appeared they didn't really want you using too many resources. Overall, we really enjoyed the cabin, the addition of the AC was great, facility was well kept, but I felt it was over priced.

I was so tired we went right to sleep and my son and my pet second day. My cousin come in wet tubing I was exhausted, but I was up that whole night. I felt something crawling on me. I looked on my bed cover. My blanket was covered in sugar aunts and then I seen carpenter ants, which was all over the floor. My dog was sleeping under the bed by day. Three I said this is unbelievable. There was giant wasps outside. I tried to sit on my porch swing. It was so dirty. I couldn't even sit down underneath I swear to sweep out the cabin beef day I checked in, and I washed the floor with a bucket in the rag and didn't mind that so much but when I went to the office to check out, I had complained with a lady at the desk, whose name was Madeline and she just dismissed me. I had been coming here for over 20 years bringing my kids and now my grandkids usually I plan to come back up in August and she told me I should've come up the day before. I tried to call the office three times to tell him there was ants in my cabin. No one answered the phone. We had a terrible storm. I have severe COPD wasn't able to go up there. I can't go out in the humidity to stay in the cabin the rest of that afternoon, which was the Fourth of July. The heat was unbearable over 100° management never even took the trash so I had to load that up and drive it up to the garbage can twice during my stay because animals had gotten into the garbage bag. I just assume the management that usually driver run on the golf cart ticket. They was just driving around on the golf cart. Doing nothing and she literally dismissed me with an attitude. Told me well. Have a could drive home when I was trying to explain my case and she said we would've moved you well they couldn't move me because there was no other cabins available. The KOA was totally booked I know this because I had a hard time getting my cousin a cabin disgrace to be trapped like that and dismissed when I was trying to explain to her why I couldn't come up didn't notice it the first night. Unbelievable I must say when I checked in the lady at the front desk was lovely but not when I checked out it was a different. It was a different person and they do not take collect the trash. I stay at KOA's constantly. I'm a big fan of KOA's very kid friendly and pet friendly but Harpers Ferry West Virginia. Need to get your act together not even a sorry or any form of an apology or compensation

Bad Kids riding their bikes at night- dangerous No guide to site (would have been helpful, especially for sites that are well hidden like ours was) Closed the pool for the season at 5 on a Saturday. I appreciate them keeping it open an extra week but why it couldn't be closed later that day or Sunday morning the same way is beyond me- they had to kick out at least 10 people who were all still swimming. Cabins are in rough shape- ours had holes from carpenter bees and other things. The heater was on making the cabin 90+ degrees when we walked in. Only 1 ac unit for two bed rooms. More than half the sites were empty the entire time we stayed. No dish cleaning station, especially important for tent campers. I had to use water from a pipe that sprayed everywhere except where you needed. Every time we did dishes I was soaked. I felt like there were a lot of extra charges despite the added activity fee. Unclear which roads are one ways and which aren't. An rv almost ran me off the road when they went the wrong way down one of the roads. Long walk to bathrooms for some spots. I've been looking to stay here for a few years but couldn't justify the cost. $300 for a 2 night stay in a cabin without a bathroom. Pretty steep! So when they offered a buy one get one night, I jumped at the offer. Cabin- decent, but badly in need of upgrades. We had A TON of carpenter bees. There was a trap that was totally full. I looked at other cabins near us and none of them had traps. Ours had 2 rooms, one full of bunks and another with a standard bed. The bunk room had a window ac unit. The adult room had nothing. No fan, no unit, just a few windows. If you close the door to the bunk room, it gets SUPER HOT! I opened the window but that didn't do anything on a hot day. I found out one of the screens was just being held in place, not actually installed. Grounds- decent, but seem to be run down. Maybe due to end of season, but there were clearly lots of things in need of repair. Just play a round of mini golf and you'll see what I mean. Mosquitoes surpringly aren't a problem but gnats are the worst. The areas where they were unbearable include mini golf and the jumping pad/playground area. Think a literal face full of gnats attacking you. Traffic- no one knows which roads are two way vs one way. I'm not sure even the staff know. We were coming back to the campground and turned down a road di thought was one way. Coming right at me is a giant rv. They refused to move so I had to drive in the grass just to get by. I later checked the map and it wasn't clear one way or the other. It seems like it should do the same thing as most other campgrounds, lots of one ways with the road at the bottom dumping everyone out who wants to leave. The way things are now seemed to cause a lot of confusion (some with me but I noticed the same thing with other drivers). Would I stay again? Maybe if prices were more reasonable for cabins. I wouldn't tent camping here because they lack a lot of the basics in my opinion. It was a beautiful campground with lots of space, but could end up being quite a hike to the nearest bathroom.
