The super friendly and solicitous hat maker (haberdasher?) and salesperson told me it was a family run and operated business. Easiest money I have spent in a while. Look for them at Portland Saturday Market and the Oregon Country Fair. Update: 11/2/16 I returned last weekend to buy a hat for my day gig to make sure I looked neat and tidy. Jakob, the hatter, spent quite a bit of time with me to pick a new hat that fit it's purpose and my size. Completely hand stitched and one of a kind, it took me an hour to find just the right one from his ample selection. I am quite pleased with the outcome. When I complained to a store manager, she told me to "just be happy that I have my boots now." That absolutely blew my mind, who taught to customers like that, especially when your employees lied to them. From the factory they had an absolutely overwhelming chemical/sulfur smell -- so bad you couldn't even stand near them. This wasn't wear-and-tear, it was clearly from the dye/manufacturing process. I went back to exchange them (no tags, but clearly unworn and within the return window) and was treated horribly by two employees, Daniel Slater and Alexis -- one of whom said they were a manager. I was flat-out denied any help because the tags were missing, with zero attempt to acknowledge the manufacturing issue or offer a solution. No flexibility. No customer service. No respect for long-time customers. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable -- just an exchange for a defective item. Instead I walked out frustrated and honestly shocked at how dismissive they were. Just a heads-up for anyone shopping there: if something is wrong with a product, don't expect Boot Barn to stand behind it.

I was looking for sacred texts of the world's religions. I said something to her again and she abruptly opened her eyes and started talking to me. I asked her if the place had any sacred texts. She said, "No. Besides those two" and pointed to my books. I said they were mine which I brought in. She was acting like she didn't believe me even though she runs the store and would have known she had no books there. She gave off deranged vibes, so I tried to leave and she blocked the way to the door. I had to demand repeatedly that she let me leave before she did. She wanted to steal my books for some reason. Also, the store looks really trashy on the outside and makes Medford look like more of a dump. Not cool.

Customer Service is Excellent! I went in attempting to shop for my college student and had a couple of pictures of things they liked on the website. Marissa (sp?) was such a big help! She is super proactive and her eye for color and style was a game changer. Marissa effortlessly helped me pick out several pants and complementary shirts among other items. The colors she suggested are all interchangeable and results in several new outfits. I've gone this store three times this year and every time I ask for a shoe they can never find…read morethem. It takes him 20 minutes just to let me know. Also, the manager I overheard him saying just recommend a different shoe because they couldn't find the shoe I was looking for that was on display. Also, the employees aren't really even helping much. They're just talking to each other and ignoring customers, which is very odd almost every time I get one person somewhat acknowledging me, which is fine actually I just want to buy something specific. They can never find when I'm asking for. It's pretty sad about a year ago. They were on different management and those guys were pretty awesome but I don't know what happened since then and it's become a pretty poor experience actually
