We were headed straight for…read moreone of our favorite restaurants in Blowing Rock and then on the way I said, nope, starting now we are venturing out more like we used to. New experiences this next year and starting now! I searched online while the hubby drove and came up with this spot. I ordered the three-meat plate which included two sides and hushpuppies, and my husband ordered the fish and chips (shocker-Brit!), which also included two sides of his choice. He raved about the piece of fish and after taking a bite, I had to agree. A nice thick piece and the breading was just right. Nice fries as well. I didn't try the beans but my husband enjoyed them. I wasn't as enamored with the meats I received. They were just ok as Q goes, lacking any smoke flavor or crunchy bits like I prefer. The sauces were delicious though and while I'm not usually much of a sauce person I enjoyed them and as a result enjoyed the meats. The slaw and collards I had were again just ok. Points for being house-made, but I adore cole slaw and this slaw is a bit dry and needs some oomph. A little Duke's and ACV would make this amazing. A nice crunch and chop is already there but I would tweak it a bit. The collards were cooked perfectly and tasty but again, ACV is needed. Maybe even just add it to the sauce mixes on the table, so folks can doctor their dishes if desired? Why a photo of the silverware you ask? I was so happy to get real silverware and heavy, substantial pieces! It elevates my experience, just me maybe. As I was grabbing a few more photos of the bistro I noticed a nice bourbon selection, and being a bourbon aficionado I had to get closer. I had a nice chat with the owner, who explained a special weekly event he does for folks to try some premium grade liquors at cost and even went on to explain that he makes most of his infusions and mixes in house. Big points for that. I only wish we didn't live over an hour away, but maybe we can get back for some cocktail events at some point. I would/will definitely return and try some other menu items. Service was great, cleanliness is clearly high on their list, and everyone was just super nice.

Found this place on Yelp during drive to Asheville. Had to detour off 23S to Gate City. Small…read moresmokehouse with limited parking. It was packed the day before Independence Day as several folks were getting take out (good sign) I ordered the large Chopped Brisket Platter with collard greens, potato salad, and it came with a roll. The platter was enough for 2 that I shared with my wife. The brisket was well smoked yet juicy. It really didn't need sauce but I tried 4 of the 6 available. They had their own NC sauce that was my favorite as it had the best combo of vinegar and spices. Others included Bama, SC, Texas, Original, Sweet and Spicy, and a hotter one that had zip but not real heat. The potato salad was traditional with a hint of mustard and pickle juice. The collard greens were delicious and well cooked / fresh The Banana Puddling was a delight. None of the parts overwhelmed the others and the vanilla wafers were soft but not soggy They have several folding tables to sit on the inside but set up for mostly carry-out. Staff was friendly even while working hard to get people served in a timely manner. It cost us around $25 plus tip but it fed 2 people.

It's been awhile since I've eaten at the restaurant but we use their catering anytime we have a working lunch. Our food includes: Baked potatoes with all the toppings - these things are really large and tasty Corn casserole - y'all this stuff is the BOMB!! So tasty I can't help but go back for seconds. I recommend a drizzle of sweet heat and the white bbq sauce over top Mac and cheese - so creamy with a white cheddar mixture. A crowd favorite. Pulled pork - perfectly cooked and tender. So much flavor in just the meat. Some of the best I had. Smoked chicken breast - YUM!!! So tender with a great smoked flavor. I find myself just snacking on extra pieces when we have leftover. And the sauces!!! All of them are good but my personal recommendation is a combination of Sweet Heat and the White Sauce. Prices are very reasonable for high end BBQ so grab yourself a combo plate (make sure to include the corn casserole) and ENJOY!!! You won't be disappointed!!!

Unfortunately when I arrived at 5:30 both were already sold out. I went with sliced brisket, collard greens and Gouda Mac & Cheese. Everything was excellent! Good smoke ring on the brisket, meat was very juicy and not dry. Only complaint would be that I prefer the stems removed from my collards, not a deal breaker, just my preference. All of the BBQ sauces were excellent as well. The atmosphere was awesome, loved the old vintage hometown feel. Can't wait for my next visit, I will arrive earlier to try and get the daily specials!

The service was great with everyone there being super helpful and sweet to us first-timers. We ordered 1/4lb beef brisket (only my brother had that and really loved it!), sauced chicken wings, turkey sandwich with potato salad as a side, pulled pork sandwich with fries, and Smoked Gouda Mac&Cheese. Everything was delicious, especially the fries, turkey sandwich, Mac&Cheese, and the wings!! The place has a very warm atmosphere and we saw a lot of families enjoying their meals. Overall a great stop for anyone wanting to try Barbecue in the Triad area.
