New experiences this next year and starting now! I searched online while the hubby drove and came up with this spot. I ordered the three-meat plate which included two sides and hushpuppies, and my husband ordered the fish and chips (shocker-Brit!), which also included two sides of his choice. He raved about the piece of fish and after taking a bite, I had to agree. A nice thick piece and the breading was just right. Nice fries as well. I didn't try the beans but my husband enjoyed them. I wasn't as enamored with the meats I received. They were just ok as Q goes, lacking any smoke flavor or crunchy bits like I prefer. The sauces were delicious though and while I'm not usually much of a sauce person I enjoyed them and as a result enjoyed the meats. The slaw and collards I had were again just ok. Points for being house-made, but I adore cole slaw and this slaw is a bit dry and needs some oomph. A little Duke's and ACV would make this amazing. A nice crunch and chop is already there but I would tweak it a bit. The collards were cooked perfectly and tasty but again, ACV is needed. Maybe even just add it to the sauce mixes on the table, so folks can doctor their dishes if desired? Why a photo of the silverware you ask? I was so happy to get real silverware and heavy, substantial pieces! It elevates my experience, just me maybe. As I was grabbing a few more photos of the bistro I noticed a nice bourbon selection, and being a bourbon aficionado I had to get closer. I had a nice chat with the owner, who explained a special weekly event he does for folks to try some premium grade liquors at cost and even went on to explain that he makes most of his infusions and mixes in house. Big points for that. I only wish we didn't live over an hour away, but maybe we can get back for some cocktail events at some point. I would/will definitely return and try some other menu items. Service was great, cleanliness is clearly high on their list, and everyone was just super nice.

Our most recent visit was this past Friday night and we ordered from the Valentine's Special menu. I won't go into great detail on the food because it wasn't any worse than other times but appetizer was basically a raw battered onion and husband's steak was a really small portion (about half the size of mine) and it was almost all fat & grizzle. We did not complain or send it back. We've never had outstanding food here but it's in a convenient location and it offers typical American fare: meat and 2 sides. Husband loved his sides: Cole Slaw & Baked Sweet Potato and the Cinnamon Sugar Butter that comes with it and the hot rolls. Restaurant overall wasn't really that busy but we were sitting in the bar and the dining room waitresses had a lot of drink orders so our waitress (the only person manning the bar) was extremely busy. She was really good for our service though. We have always sat in the bar when we eat here so I cannot speak to dining in the restaurant and waitress service out there. Vibes in bar area are typical with plenty of TVs playing different sporting events. Million dollar question: Will we return? Answer: Probably. If we're in the area and in need of something more than fast food then we will likely stop in and sit in the bar area like always. If the service is bad, we'll likely leave (btw We've never had bad service) If the food is bad and we're in a crunch for time (which we usually are), we'll just not eat it. If we ever have time to spare, we might send it back for correction or just ask to have it taken off the bill. There's no need to make a scene or be rude to staff.

I was initially a little concerned since we were the only people in the restaurant at 7:00 p.m., but that worry quickly faded. The atmosphere was quiet, and service was prompt and attentive. I ordered the 16-oz ribeye, which was cooked perfectly. The only drawback was that it could have used a bit more seasoning. Bar drinks were on point, though the draft selection was limited to just one local beer. Overall, a solid local spot with good food and strong drinks.

Service was quick and friendly. Table was dirty when we got there, but they happily wiped it down and apologized. Out of our two menus the prices was different in each one and different still on the ticket. The pizza showed 10.99 in the menu and was 13.46 on the ticket. So just know the prices may not be whatever they say. None of our items were the price the menu showed. They were out of several things, but we ended up pleased with what we got. Definitely an enjoyable Saturday night.

First was the regular version, and everyone had a good time. Second was some weird club mix, and people already started to look frustrated. When the third started, it sounded like some random club dance song, but then the actual song came in and people started to audibly groan and complain, so the owner skipped it. When he realized the next song was also a remix of the song, he reset the jukebox, refused to refund me the money I wasted on songs I didn't get to hear, and told me if I played another song I was banned from the bar. The food is also really good.
