I assume they are free because we never get charged for them. I believe you have to at least order a cup for yourself. It comes with one scoop and a milk bone on top. Our dogs go crazy over them. We introduced our new puppy to it for the first time this visit and she started eating the cardboard it was so good. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. So sad to have some ice cream when there was a big plastic chip that I almost choked on while eating. I went to back to the counter to let them know what I had found in my ice cream and they didn't seemed concerned at all. The supervisor looked very young and didn't seem to care much. Just apologized and that was all. I'm positive that it wasn't their fault, but the lack of customer service, they could have offered me another ice cream, or asked me if I wanted a refund. We found Brusters through the visitor's guide coupon book for Williamsburg. They had a buy one get one free deal. The 'real' ice cream was very good but a little too rich. I had the coconut chocolate chip which was just awesome. Oh my- I really love crunchy things in my ice cream- this one hit the spot. I also sampled flavors from the others in my group: birthday cake- very sweet and rich, maple nut- (again with the crunch; I like it) sweet, cookie dough, chocolate and strawberry. All the flavors were very tasty. This is an ice cream shop that we would visit again. It's great for an occasional treat. read more

Best ice cream joint in williamsburg, so many flavors to choose from, and if you cant make up your mind they will mix scoops for ya...creamy, flavorful ice cream...everything a homemade ice cream joint should be...the line was deep but moved quickly bc of the friendly, efficient staff...i recommend the pb graham and maybe signing up for the rewards card on ur first stop bc u will def be back before the end of the trip read more

We love Bruster's but unfortunately during COVID I believe people working in restaurants including ice cream stores should be taking extra precautions. There were two women not wearing masks at all and the man who gave us our ice cream had his mask below his nose. I can see why it got high ratings from people. It is good but I can't say it's great because the ice cream I tried - coffee and my daughter's Birthday Cake, had a very smooth and creamy texture but the flavor of the coffee wasn't too apparent and the Birthday Cake was a little bitter to me because of the blue frosting - I think from the food coloring. However, my coffee was put into a turtle sundae and you can't go completely wrong with anything covered in hot fudge and caramel and salty pecans. If I just had a cone, I don't think I'd feel I had an awesome ice cream experience. Something would have been lacking. And now I just checked their website out of curiosity to see if they had nutritional info and they do. I asked the kid if the yogurt was low fat and he said the main difference between the yogurt and the ice cream was the texture - the yogurt was lighter. That wasn't unreasonable because several ice creams have close to the same fat and calories of yogurt, but not this time. The yogurt has 150 calories vs. 210 for the ice cream and 4 grams fat vs. 12! I happen to love Ice Cream - and there are a lot of good places in the area, but I'm never disappointed when I choose Bruster's Real Ice Cream. They have a good selection of flavors, the standards and a few specials. Chocolate Raspberry, Dark Chocolate. The ice cream is rich and creamy - I've never had a problem with freezer burn here. Portion size has never disappointed. Their brownie sundae and apple crisp sundaes are extra generous. Try the apple - it is surprisingly good: the sweetness blends well with the creamy ice cream. The staff tends to be on the young side, like you'd expect at a place like this. Very friendly. There is a tip jar and I'll feel like leaving a tip more often than not. read more

Well visiting this area, I took the family to this tucked away very busy ice cream stand that didn't look like much but had some of the best creations and tasting ice cream I have ever tasted. The flavors and mix ins and sundaes all sounded delicious and I can see why it was busy. The only issue I saw was that the place was hidden on the edge of a shopping center behind trees and you would never know it was there. I'm not a big fan. For what's out there---Baskin Robbin's, Cold Stone Creamery, Maggie Moo's to name a few---this is at the bottom of the barrel for me. Baskin Robbin's is one of my all time favorites since I was a kid for mint chocolate chip so I cannot knock it. Buuutttt, then Coldstone came around. Wow, what an ice cream. I do think it's very pricey but if you only do it once in a while it is an awesome treat. Maggie Moo's is up there too but I think Coldstone is my favorite. Sooo, back to Brusters. It's sort of close to our house so my kids prefer to go to it but it doesn't have mix in's and I don't feel like it's anything special. There is always a long line there, and the prices are as high as Coldstone---for no good reason. Maybe I'm missing something. Anyhow, I'm giving it 2 stars only because my kids like it. I prefer to wait til I get home and take my own ice cream out of the freezer. read more
