They have quite a menu of ice creams and desserts, but we got the vanilla chocolate swirl toddler cones with sprinkles (jimmies, ants, or whatever you may call them!) and even the toddle cone was quite satisfying and tasty! Creamy and delicious! They do have tables and chairs with umbrellas on the side of the walk up dairy bar, could use a few more! The soft serve was made quickly and served promptly! Yum! As I was heading out of town to return back to the real world, I needed one more vacation treat and as a huge ice cream fan, I knew Shoofly Dairy Bar would be my last stop and it was completely worth it. I was a bit overwhelmed with all of the options (and some of those shaved ice/ice cream combinations were...interesting), but I went with my good ol' standby: a cookies and cream milkshake. And I was reminded why that's my favorite: the creamy vanilla blends with chunks of chocolate cookie and little bits of sweet icing and the one from Shoofly Dairy Bar was the perfect blend of all of those and especially rewarding on my drive home. Service was quick, everything was reasonably priced, and although I took my milkshake to go, I loved the old school setting and could see others enjoying the outside seating in the unseasonably warm sun. Woo-Whee!! While doing a day trip up to Williamsburg, we were all about hitting up the dessert places. This is a walk up & order establishment with picnic tables & umbrellas for seating to the right of their building with some lawn games. They have an extensive number of snoball flavors. That is an understatement, just look at the list in the pic I took. I was overwhelmed with all the options. Since we were actually meeting up with friends for dinner & ummm well snoballs as well in the very near future (15 minutes to be exact) , I opted to save the snoballs for later that evening. I went with the nitro cold brew milkshake. GOOODNESSS GRACIOUS!! That is some creamy deliciousness in a cup! While I've only had shoofly pie once in my life (in Lancaster Central Market), I wanted to have some again. I had no idea there was shoofly pie available a great deal closer to me. I didn't realize the half slice came with ice cream. So I had a milkshake on top of shoofly pie & ice cream. All of it was really good, but I wasn't able to finish my pie & ice cream in such a short amount of time. Refer to my pics for the available sizes. I highly recommend stopping by & checking them out! What a fun place with unique twists on shoo fly pie in the land of ice cream. From the road, this looks just what you would expect for an old school ice cream drive up. Their menu includes all things soft serve and what appears to be a limitless number of snowball flavors and combinations. What really sets them apart though is their ability to reinvent the Pennsylvania Dutch favorite shoofly pie in a variety of formats from moon pies to sundaes. I had the sundae and it was redolent in all things shoofly from molasses syrup to crumble providing both the flavors and texture of a good slice. This is more than a gimmick, it is deconstruction at its best. Staff is the usual teen crowd but they know the menu and are both friendly and polite. This took me back to my own teens and hot summer evenings being offset by the cool delights of an ice cream stand. Worth visiting for sure. read more

Shoofly Dairy Bar gets its name from the PA Dutch dessert Shoofly pie and offers soft serve ice cream made with Farm Friend milk (non GMO, from happy grass fed cows,) among other menu items like Hawaiian shave ice, snoballs etc... Specializing in natural and organic ingredients, staff are well versed in their extensive menu offerings of what is natural colored, sugar free or made with organic cane sugar. The customer service received from this local Mom n Pop style shop was fantastic, which is merely the cherry on the top of my 5 star review. We got a slice of the Shoofly pie, a Whoopie Pie and a soft serve to share.... Prices are very fair for the size of the serving. The pie is a Mennonite family recipe and is absolutely delicious. Are you also one that takes your dog everywhere with you? Well, there is something for them too! It's called the Pup Cup. Interesting how they make each treat individually - my granddaughter got hers several minutes before my daughter got hers. Grandson was DELIGHTED with the size and strawberry syrup of his shave ice. Ice cream was so creamy, smooth and tasty. My daughter was disappointed, but not because hers didn't taste good. She opted for something with fresh peaches and after one bite remembered she doesn't really like them that much! Silly lady! It's like stepping back in time. We were driving back from the cape, and some errands took us off the main road. We felt like stopping for a treat, and yelp got us here--way to go, yelp. This is just like an old-time roadside ice cream stand. Being old, I know what I'm talking about. We had floats, which they made by putting rich ice cream in a large cup and handing it to us with bottles of premium soft drinks. We enjoyed them sitting at one of their many outside tables on a warm evening. While this place is too far for us to make a memorable trip, we would undoubtedly veer off the main road the next time we're in the area. read more

I'm a regular customer there and all the times I go it's very lovely and everyone is very nice, except for tonight. When I got my order I guess the young lady taking my order misunderstood me on one item the I order. I ordered 3 milk shakes and my son always gets vanilla icecream with a gummy. So we were all excited saying we are going to make a shark week Sundae. But we got a snow cone instead. So maybe the orders can be repeated back to the customers so both partys know the all is correct. When I said oh I didn't order this the young came back with an attitude saying yes you did , you can go back to the window and I can charge you for an icecream. It was just the attitude that really has me writing this review. I bit my tongue and asked my son if a snow cone was fine. The young lady that was handing the orders was very sweet and offered to add icecream on top. Which it was ok the way it was. My youngest thinks she is the next Jonathan Gold so I'm letting her help me with this review. "I think it was good and the flavors made sense." Ummm...we're going to need more than that, kid. "It's good on a summer day when it's hot and the prices are good." We went on a rainy day and it was still very good, summer has nothing to do with it. Not sure how she knows anything about the prices, I paid, She is correct though, prices were on par for ice cream shoppes in the area. I had a sundae. The soft serve was creamy and delicious. The hot fudge was thick and yummy. The cherry was not the typical plastic maraschino variety (or at least did not taste like it...I think it was closer to a Tillen Farms cherry). It hit all the right notes, soooo good. My husband had the s'mores sundae and said it was great. Not so sweet that he got halfway through it and had to take a drink of water. It had Shoofly crumbles which he said were delicious (though had to have a crash course in what Shoofly pie is before hand). My oldest had a pineapple Snow Cone. She seemed to like it, it was gone in an instant. The regular was a perfect size for a 12 year old. My youngest had an orange soda float which, as we now know now, had flavors that made sense. It also apparently was made with the "right" orange cream soda (Virgils. I had no idea there was a wrong orange cream soda, I feel enlightened). I think we have learned two things: 1) My daughter has a lot of work to do if she wants to be the next Jonathan Gold and 2) Shoofly Dairy Bar is stellar, delicious, and hit all the wickets you would want from a shop of its nature. read more

The ice cream is 5 stars, the service is 5 stars the fact that they don't have enought staff is why I went 3 star, the last two time I left with no ice cream because they have one person working and 8 people in line, and I am not going to wait 20 minute to get ice cream when there are several other places in town where I don't have to wait like that and where I could drive to and be served before they got to me in line. This place is a great Mom n Pop (local venue) type place. We stop here for desert after each date night. Can't beat the teams polite professionalism, enthusiasm and huge flavor selection. They have a few table/chairs on side of building with a few fun games for their customers. The posted menus hanging from the ceiling and wall are dirty and have been rewritten too many times...buy a whiteboard! Perfect treat for a cool October evening! The young man who was working the window was courteous, friendly and helpful. The portion (small cone) was generous, the soft-serve (twist) was delicious, and the price ($3.28 including tax) is pretty much the most reasonable in Williamsburg, a town not noted for affordable desserts. So many choices and we loved the customizations. I was able to get a sundae with all of the extra walnuts, pecans and almonds I was craving. I also added fresh organic strawberries. I shared this with my toddler and we both loved it. My wife was able to get the egg custard snowball with extra extra sweetened condensed milk. And she was happy too. We found this place completely by accident that will definitely make it a destination on our next trip out here. And it's open beyond summer season, unlike many of the snowball places. Ok - so on Saturday we stopped in for cones and malted milkshakes. They were excellent ! The soft serve ice cream comes in vanilla, chocolate, of twist, but it is delicious. They have a great assortment of toppings you can add. Now while they were making our ice cream, I watched how they made their sno-balls and they looked awesome. So Sunday, after a hot day at the park, we just had to go back. So worth it! The kiddie size is large enough - but the regular will probably make you feel indulgent.
