There is parking right next to the building or a pay to park parking lot across the street. The first two hours in the lot are free. ***EXPERIENCE*** We ordered the lychee oolong tea and the matcha milk tea with crystal boba and mango. My lychee oolong tea tasted just like fresh lychee! I will say it's brewed on the stronger side, so was a bit more bitter than I was hoping, but it was really refreshing. This is a wonderful spot to get some work done. They have strong wifi and lots of outlets. I appreciate the natural lighting in this space. ***PRICE*** Depending on what type and size of drink you get, prices range from $5-8. ***BATHROOM*** This spot shares a bigger building with other businesses. There isn't a bathroom in the actual Secret Garden space, but if you exit through their bigger building, you can find Women and Men restrooms not too far away. There are a few stalls in the Womens. ***CONCLUSION*** There is an extensive list of things you can order here! There is something for everyone. What a great shop right in Merchant's square in Colonial Williamsburg! They serve coffee, tea, ice cream, bubble teas, milk teas, and lemonade! I might be missing some of their drink options but I am sure you will be able to find something that you enjoy! The gentleman behind the counter was kind and patient as I took some time to figure out what I wanted. My drink which was a peach oolong tea with strawberry jelly beads was delicious. Food - 3.5 service - 5 ambiance- 4 Prob more like a 3.5. But 4 is generous. I got the coconut milk tea with mango jelly and milk foam. Light ice and "less sugar". It was okay. I wish I tried the coconut slush instead. It wasn't cold enough. Even if it's light ice it should still be cold and there were maybe two ice cubes. And they melted right away. The coconut was a powder base and tasted a little artificial. The mango jelly was yummy. It was "less sugar" but was a little sweeter than I felt it should be. It wasn't bad but it wasn't one of my top boba places. The menu was a little sparse as well. It is located in a cute area of Williamsburg, the old town area and the parking is not that difficult. the secret garden cafe had such a welcoming atmosphere! the staff was friendly and helpful, which initially gave me high hopes because my partner and i are big boba fans. we ordered a frozen mango milk tea and an oolong milk tea, both with tapioca bubbles. the presentation was beautiful - the drinks looked picture-perfect! however, upon taking our first sip, we noticed that the tapioca bubbles weren't fully cooked . instead of the usual smooth, chewy texture, they were a bit hard and rough. unfortunately, we weren't satisfied with the drinks and ended up not finishing them. while the experience wasn't ideal, we wouldn't completely write off the secret garden cafe. the positive aspects like the friendly service and beautiful presentation encourage us to give them another chance in the future. however, we'd definitely emphasize the importance of fully cooked tapioca bubbles when ordering again. read more

Secret Garden is such an adorable little boba shop in Merchant Square! I tried the peach black tea with strawberry popping boba, which is my go-to at most boba places. It was subtly sweet with a hint of floral undertones, and was a very refreshing beverage to beat the Virginia heat (and it of course made for some great Instagram photos!). I ordered a "medium," which was around $5 and a pretty small portion, but it was worth it to satisfy my boba craving. Located in Merchants Square, across from Mellow Mushroom, this cafe offers milk tea, coffee, juice, ice cream, liege waffle breakfast sandwiches and desserts, and wraps. The hubs and I came across this place while in the area, and let me tell you, I was pretty excited! It was a super hot day, so finding a tea place - I was all about it! I ordered the Yogurt Lemonade, which happen to be their seasonal special, and the hubs had the Morning Glory, a juice made with kiwis, strawberries, and apples. Both of these were super refreshing and SO TASTY! I loved my Yogurt Lemonade, as it had a super nice tang and tart to it, and the yogurt added the nice creaminess to the consistency. The Morning Glory was such a healthy pick-me-up, and my hubs loved it. The staff here were super kind, welcoming, and friendly! I'm happy Williamsburg finally has good bubble tea and psyched it's in a convenient CW location. The service is friendly, everything is always made fresh, and the interior is adorable. Their tapioca pearls are fresh and flavorful, and they have all the other add-ins you could ask for. I like how they offer plenty of dairy free and caffeine free options. They allow customizable levels of ice and sugar in the drinks, which is great. 100% sweetness can be a little much for someone who's trying to cut back on sugar. Still, I'm an addict and this place gives me my fix. Their brown sugar flavor lives up to its namesake and the Thai tea is solid, but Taro is my favorite flavor so far. Their breakfast waffle sandwich is yummy, with a great house sauce and perfectly toasted liege waffles, but their food is overpriced. It's my one complaint. Stick to drinks and ice cream here. The tea isn't cheap but it's worth it for the occasional treat. If you can't choose between ice cream and tea, their frozen milk tea is definitely the way to go. read more

To preface this review, we did not actually get boba here. I'll tell you why. We showed up around 45 minutes prior to closing time, which I've definitely done at other boba shops before so I didn't think we were in the store super late or anything. I've showed up at a boba shop literally 10 minutes before closing and they were always able to serve me. I got up to the counter and wanted an oolong tea drink. They were out of oolong tea. I swapped to a green tea drink. They were out of green tea. I asked if they had black tea and the barista told me yes, but she wasn't sure if there was even enough for the tickets in front of me, so it was more of a no. X wanted a Thai Tea, which they did have. But the barista told us it would take 20-25 minutes for them to get through their tickets before us (I think I saw 5 cups). This was just too long of a wait for one drink, because they ran out of the tea for literally all their other drinks. So, if you want boba from here, make sure you go super early because they won't have anything left roughly an hour before they even close. read more

This was the worst milk tea I have ever had. Super powdery tasting, sweetness is not done by percentages and even the "less" is too sweet. The boba was AWFUL-not remotely fresh. I had been going on five days without bubble tea, and needed my fix. When I randomly saw a Bubble Tea Shop in Colonial Williamsburg, I was so happy. It also happened that they sold Belgian waffles, which was an extra plus since my husband and I were both hungry too. We started to order but were told they were not currently serving food, so that was disappointing. We placed an order for two large bubble teas anyway: (1) Thai milk tea and (1) brown sugar milk tea. As I drank my Thai milk tea, I realized this does not taste like Thai milk tea at all. I have no idea what I was drinking. What is also worse is that the bubbles were not cooked through, and chewing through uncooked bubbles is gross. I also had some of my husband's brown sugar milk tea and it was too sweet. I am absolutely ecstatic that this place is here. Williamsburg definitely needed a place that serves decent bubble tea and we finally have one! It's not just decent though, it's absolutely wonderful and delicious. It was pretty quiet when we came in, so ordering was quick and easy. They had our favorite flavors so the choice wasn't hard. Also, try the yogurt popping Boba if you haven't yet. They're the best of the bunch IMO. They go well with any flavor and I like the option of being able to refrigerate my drink if I can't finish it right away without the tapioca going hard. The Taro Milk Tea tasted really nice and creamy and had the spot on flavor that is expected. It goes nicely with the red bean, and I finished every last drop. The Wintermelon Tea was also great. It may not be a flavor for everyone but once acquired, it's hard to stay away. The place was very clean and organized, and everything was made fresh. There were only 2 people working (assuming husband & wife), so when a small crowd came in, there was a bit of a wait. Overall, I'd say it's worth the wait. I really love this little cafe! It's so cute inside, and they have a large variety of bubble tea flavors to choose from. I usually opt for the Thai Tea with milk foam and boba pearls, but I've also tried the Black tea, and it's really delicious! The fact that you can customize how much sugar, ice, and boba pearls you get is a really nice touch. My advice is always go for the milk foam! It makes the drink so much creamier! The Nutella Waffle is really good too, but be warned, you'll be waiting for a while to get it. Everything seems to take a little while to make and assemble, so be a little patient. As of writing this review, they've only been open for a little bit, so I think as the staff gets a little more experience, they'll start putting orders out more quickly. read more

10/6/21 On a hot September day on the 18th of 2021, my family stopped by The Secret Garden Coffee Shop and ice cream Store. I have to say wearing Lume Deodorant did not seem to stop the sweat, but I did not smell odor...but I digress. Nevertheless, seeing vanilla cookies and cream ice cream got my attention. Yes, it was more sugar than I needed, but it did cool my body down. The guy I meet there was friendly and very helpful. The cold ice water helped cool us down too. The place was busy when we entered the building, but seemed to clear out not long after we sat down. A lot of people choose to eat outside, while coughing. Thank you for small favors. On the plus side, the place was nearly empty. I thought that it was a coffee place, but their menu is rather limited. It seems to be more of a juice and snack bar. I asked for almond milk for my coffee, and the girl came back afterward and said that they only had a half serving of almond milk, and did I want a different type of milk, too? Not ideal, but whatever. The food took quite a while for a "cafe", but it seems to be made to order, so that is certainly understandable. The egg waffle sandwich has some sort of sweet mayo, which wasn't listed on the menu, but was tasty. Also worth noting? The coffee kids do not fit the cups, so I spilled half of it when the lid popped off twice. Overall, the place was something new and different. I don't know that I'll be back all that often, but it's a welcome option downtown. read more
