First visit and it was a slow night. Ambiance was good. Very clean inside and a nice outdoor seating area with a fire pit ! They had a solo guitar player and singer but a small audience unfortunately.... Bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. We will return as we love craft beer!! read more

Amazing little local bottle shop and brewery. Totally caters to locals, but makes everyone feel welcome. I tried nine of their house beers and love them all. Very good selection of North Carolina and national craft brews. By far, the best part was the service. The guy working at the bar had great recommendations, was extremely friendly, and knows his stuff. I recommend this place to anyone in the new Bern area that is looking for drinks and good conversation. Awesome place! read more

Love love love, for beer beer beer!! Really very impressed with the selection of beers on tap and off tap from Brutopia. Every time we visit there are new flavors (and usually the same favorites- Belgian Triple). Last time we tried a spicy ghost pepper beer that was truly mind blowing. We haven't seen it very crowded and we typically go on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon after a walk in the nearby civil war trails. The bartenders are incredibly friendly and helpful when helping you choose your beers. They don't have food food but they do have snacks like cheese and chips for purchase. You can order in or bring takeout if you're hungry (there's a pizza place across the street). During Covid we sit outside at the picnic tables because no one inside including staff wear masks. Worth a visit! read more

I absolutely loved going back to Brutopia for my second craft beer experience. The first time I went I had greatly enjoyed a few specials brews that they had on tap, but this time around I switched things up. I'm glad to see that Lisa is still working there! I walked into Brütopia and there were a few smiling faces in there excited to get their craft beer game on. I was happy to see that they had a cranberry gose wheat bear, because it ended up being my favorite choice in my flight! By the way, this joint also sells growers if you're interested in taking any of their beer home. They carry different North Carolina beers on tap, and they also sell a huge variety of cans and bottles from all over the Carolinas. I enjoyed looking at all the members mugs because that meant that there were some truly dedicated beer drinkers there. I also tried the heavy IPA that they have on draft, and something called the RBF which was amazing. Not to mention Brütopia also has an outdoor seating as Rea for guests to hang out with their pets. My five stars are because this is my kind of place and it is great to have in New Bern and on Hwy 70 where there are limited cool places to have a cold one and a special cold one at that. I saw this place on line (Yelp or Google) and I felt a need to get in there being I'm a mile or so from there presently. Stopped in with Monica and Chop - Chop had to sit outside (dog) The folks that work here are super friendly and helped with beer selections and Ideas for dealing with the dog that wanted a beer and sandwich. (Food - bring your own - except - Sat night - food truck and live Music!!) I loved the beer and I loved the place and the folks here. Not fancy (I don't need fancy) Not Expensive (I don't need that either) Not pretentious (I don't even know how to do that one) I love it and will return as soon as possible! Stopped in on a Monday night and had a couple of adult beverages. Was only going to have one, but we were enjoying Sam behind the bar and learned that mon. Night was their $2 of pours, which made us happy. Very low key place that time of the week and we were told it is generally that way. Brewer(s) know what they're doing. As long as a bar has 3 things, I will forgive any shortcomings. 1) good beer, 2) friendly and excellent bar tenders, 3) friendly clientele. Brutopia has all 3 in Spades. Four of their own beers,and 8 rotating taps. Also a slew of canned and bottled beers around the room set for taking no home or chilling and enjoying on premises. Lisa is an awesome bar tender and very friendly. The people are also friendly and interesting and make a stranger feel at home. Great little bar in New Bern. They don't have food, but on Wednesday they have food trucks. Do yourself a favor and go to Brutopia if you are in the area. read more

I don't write reviews because they are subjective. I have to write now because of "Mike K's" review from 13 days ago. I'm not sure where "Mike K" learned how to spell. I certainly hope his attire was "approximate". To write ONE crappy review after "giving up" on a place (which means he visited several times) is wrong. Brutopia might share a spot in a strip mall That means a tattoo shop that closes by 9, and a pool supply place which closes at 5.... essentially the area is all theirs. The place is like Cheers. Newcomers walk in and are greeted both by staff and patrons with heartfelt "Hello's" and "Welcome!!" Newcomers are instantly friends. 98% of the time one of the two owners are working the bar, the bottle shop, or the home brew store. There is NO WAY in hell that anyone working there would not acknowledge a customer by "starring" at the FLOOR while shuffling papers. Don't buy that sh!tty review from some idiot who clearly is out to get someone for no other reason besides trying to be a d!ck. Stop by. Have some kick @$& beer, wine, mead, and enjoy the company of awesome owners, staff AND regulars. read more

Just found this place just recently and it's a great place to just sit around and drink some awesome beer. If you brew your own mead or beer they have instruments you can purchase as well that cam assist you in your new hobby. Great place. read more

Nice location for a variety of on-tap beers that will offer experienced beer drinkers the opportunity to stretch their palate. Also available are tried and true options, still adequately crafty, for the less adventurous or those nostalgic for their innocent days back when they liked "dark" beers like Sierra Pale Ale. The service isn't half bad. Just be prepared to be a bit patient. Consider it an exercise in personal character. Ask for some pretzels, browse the goods. And ask for tastes too. Not a great selection of brewing equipment, but probably enough to get you by in a pinch. Some good wines and beer kits available. For New Bern, it's a godsend if you need something for your beer lab on a weekend. read more

Great bar, if your a local. They have a decent beer selection that was once worth going out of my way for. I generally don't go to brutopia because of its location. It's location is in a strip mall off a main highway with heavy traffic. I stopped making the effort to give Brutopia my business after I stopped in one night and the bartender refused to even acknowledge me. It was so obvious he didn't want me there that one of the people at the bar stopped him and said "please serve that guy first". The bartender proceeded to grumble something back to the patron and then continued to ignore me while shuffling through some random papers while starring at the floor. For context, I'm a middle aged man with a full time job that dresses approximately. I sincerely hope this establishment doesn't treat all new people this way! read more

It's about time!!! Brutopia fills a void that has been missing for quite some time in our town. The homebrew supply shop area is immaculate and has pretty much everything you need to brew your own. The program they use to create/fill your recipe is amazing. They'll crush your grains, they have kits, also. There is a small beer selection on one wall. I only wish they would sell them in singles. But, they do have a very small variety of singles in a fridge. They have 10 taps pouring (they refer to it as "We Tapped It" on their website www.BrutopiaBeer.com. Witty. You walk in this place and everyone is so friendly, you won't leave without a new drinking buddy. It's so casual with a nice bar and a couple of tables, and very comfortable couches. The owners are awesome and knowledgeable and eager to assist you. Local artist handmade mugs for their mug club. Very unique. Purchase a mug for $35, get 10% off your draught pours for the year, take it home at the end of the year. They have started game nights once every two weeks (which is nice, and not overkill) and are planning beer tastings. They have amazing cheese and hard salamis and artisan crackers on premise. They appear pricey, but I was there on a particular night it fed no less than 10 people. They are working on a beer garden, something our town desperately needs, and live music in the future. They are hosting Walking Dead gatherings this season!!!! read more
