I was here about 11 years to see a Stevie Ray Vaughn cover band. The lead guy dressed like SRV and played only his songs. The bar has a back room for music on certain nights of the week, so a friend and I went on a Saturday night. That was a long time ago. I completely forgot about this place until we were in the neighborhood after going to Fair Park for kid's activity in 2026. The bar is kind of a dive bar. It is not modern or updated. But it has a ton of charm and reflects days past in East Dallas. We found a table and sat. The bartender was solo so he was doing everything: bartending, taking food orders, and bringing the food out. I wish his name was on the receipt because he was doing a great job and I wanted to acknowledge his efforts. He was pleasant and friendly despite having to do everything himself. There are about 20 beers on tap so the wife and I each had a beer and the kid a soft drink. We ordered a small cheese pizza for the kid and we shared a "Tavern Favorite" which comes with spicy sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, and purple onions. We skipped the onions. Pizza came out very quickly and was piping hot. The crust was thin and crisp. The toppings were beyond generous. I have not see so many toppings for a very long time. The sausage was indeed spicy. It was delicious. The entire pizza was excellent and the bar earned its reputation for excellent pizza. The wife liked this place and there were some arcade games for the kid so I have feeling we will be back. read more

I'd never been there so I ordered a beer and walked around. Seemed like a cool place. I closed my tab and left a $2 tip for my one beer. I just saw they ran $20 on my credit card. I didn't see a sign warning of a minimum credit card charge and the bartender sure didn't warn me if they actually do have one and he didn't just steal $20 from me. Either way, that's pretty sh*tty, so I won't go back. Shame on them. read more

Big dive bar with pool, plenty of seating indoor and out plus a sand volleyball court! We got a bbq chicken pizza which had a sweetness to it and pairs well with the ranch. I am from Saint Louis and saw that they had an stl style pizza, the only one in Dallas Proper!! So I decided to order through DoorDash. They cancelled my order, it was kinda late so I figured maybe the kitchen just closed and they forgot to turn off online ordering. So a second time a few days later I order earlier in the evening, once again the order gets cancelled. Whatever, still thinking maybe I just ordered too late So a third time, maybe a week or two later, I order during the day and my order actually goes through!! However my dasher gets there and messages me saying that she was told my order is still awaiting payment. Anyone who uses DoorDash knows this isn't how door dash works, it pulls the money out of your bank at the payment screen before placing the order, and declines the order if there are insufficient funds on the card. I try to go through door dash customer support, and am paired with an agent that says he is going to contact the store to assert the fact that my order was paid through DoorDash already (have screenshots from bank and DoorDash to prove) My agent is unable to reach the store because they aren't answering. They call the dasher and walk her through the issue so she can end the conflict. They still refuse to give my dasher my order and say payment is required... I literally paid $35 for this order. I have to get back on DoorDash support and the second support person gets on and tries to call and work with the store on the issue but get no answer. The only solution I was able to get was having DoorDash refund my order because the restaurant wouldn't give them pay PREPAID order. Wasted an hour of my time when I was so excited for a nostalgic slice of home :( read more

Joseph is a poor bartender. Literally one of the top 3 worst I've ever endured in Dallas, the city where I was born and raised. Treated us so poorly especially when I had no negative comments and treated him with nothing less than respect. Even tipped him $2/drink 1/2 price whiskey night. He was exceptionally rude despite the fact that I was in no way disrespectful or assuming. He even tried to over charge me. Why? My friend and I made an observation that the bar has blocked multiple black and Hispanic artists off of TouchTunes. He tried to excuse this. Anita Baker? Why if Tim Wilson is open for play. Mick Jagger, Elvis, and many others known for exploiting the baby groupies in the 70's. Children who were 11-13. The management is why Sylvan Tavern failed. These bartenders who disregard and disrespect clientele due to personal bias. I made a similar observation at Sylvan where Spanish music was skipped over despite many clients paying to play their music. I'm disgusted. I grew up in East Dallas. I'm sorry to see how poorly my old neighborhood is now represented. I used to enjoy this place. No more. Go elsewhere. This is so demeaning and outright discriminatory. Dallas has bars and venues that are a much better representation of our history and culture. This place is not it. Bryan tavern is so low life and a complete bastardized version of Dallas. Here to try this legendary place.. It was early in the midweek on a quiet evening. Plenty of parking but I could see how the lot might get crowded. Lots of video screens showing the games. We grabbed a table and people watched! The regulars were having a wonderful time! I even saw regulars from other establishments I frequent! We had an appetizer (Jersey Sliders) and then ordered a couple of pizzas. Service and speed was really good, but keep in mind, it wasn't crowded at that point. Our food was exceptionally good. The sliders were OUTSTANDING! The pizzas were the stars of the night. They had the right amount of ingredients and were baked long enough to burst some of the veggies on top and melt the cheese. The crust was perfectly baked and a good flavor. As we were finishing paying our check the crowd had quadrupled and the place was packed with many obvious regulars by the way they all were getting along. read more

We hosted our wedding welcome party with BST and had a terrible experience. We asked multiple times for control of the music and TV screens in the back room we reserved. The first 2 times we asked the staff member said "oh the DJ isn't there yet?" and we responded with no, didn't know there was supposed to be a DJ. An hour later he hadn't responded. My party was listening to loud screamo in a dark room. We were placing a sign, and a man told us not to put it there. So we moved it. He told us not to put it there either. We said okay where should we put it? He responded "I don't know where you should put it but you definitely can not put it there" and walked away. An hour later we find out that was our DJ. After a third ask of changing the music (an hour after the event started) he set up. We finally go to talk to him about our plans for speeches. He yells at me not to put my drink on his table. I kindly say I wasn't going to. He responds reprimanding me, telling me how expensive his equipment is. I again say I wasn't planning on putting my drink there. I'm at a loss for words, and he rudely tells me to finish my sentence. As a whole, the staff was not kind to us. We easily brought thousands of dollars to the business from our party alone, and I was shocked that our requests took hours to complete. The food was fine. We ran out of plates multiple times and had to wait a very long time and ask the bar each time. I'm very disappointed, as we used to love Bryan Street Tavern. read more

Hadn't been here in a minute - always a good place to chill - especially the back patio. You have to get a pizza. I got a small for 9 bucks with pepperoni and local jimmys sausage - was delish. Upon arrival the bar was packed so we decided to sit at a table waited about 10 min still no one came to attend so we went to the bar area to order, bartender sent someone to help. Overall horrible experience from top to bottom. The main issue was our bar tender with arm sleeve tattoos. He was rude, unhelpful, dismissive, and an overall jerk. We asked a few questions regarding the menu and he acted like we were a bother as he huffed as puffed. The food was mediocre at best but it was fairly priced. I left a poor tip because I got poor service. However, mr tattoos thought he should add an extra tip. Luckily, I knew something was off with him so I checked my bank statements.... Come to find out a few days later there really is video, but it auto erases after 72 hours. I pressed the issue and BST manager/owner admitted several cars have been vandalized in their parking lot. We just moved into a home near this bar/restaurant and were so pleased to find it. Great for watching the game, grabbing a beer, or enjoying the patio. The pizza is highly rated so we tried the Tavern special and were not disappointed. Loaded with toppings and served on a thin, crispy crust. It was delicious. My husband also ordered the loaded tots and though he was in heaven. With over 20 craft beers on tap, there's a beer for everyone. We came during the week around lunch time however there wasn't a huge crowd. There were regulars who knew each other and the bartender, so if you are looking for a place where everyone knows your name, this could be that place. We ended up ordering a pizza and wings, along with a couple of beers. Everything was good, but nothing spectacular. I ordered the large build your own half & half with two ingredients on each side. The total came out to over $25. It came out as the same price as there extra large. Ok. If it's good I don't mind paying for it. When I got it home & opened the box what I found was the thinnest burnt excuse for a pizza I have ever seen. More than half the pizza was so burnt it was uneatable and the rest was overcooked at best. This is a great spot for a nice local crowd. It's also interesting and quite pleasant to see the integration in Dallas vs California, which pays lip service to it but is actually very segregated. The pizza was excellent and had they used thicker crust, and not burned the bottom--perhaps the best that I've had in many years. Wings tasted from frozen so I would avoid. If I could suggest something, it would be to offer a thicker crust option. Nice people working here but obviously cater to regulars and give mild pushback to newbies. Didn't bother me one bit.
