I had the Black and Blu burger tonight and should have gotten one to go that's how good it was!!!

I had high hopes coming here since this place has good reviews and every time i pass by there are always cars in the lot. The inside is comfy with a few TVs for watching sports. The bar area is a nice size and there were several patrons there on the Wednesday night we were there. Our server was personable and pleasant. The food- I ordered a chili and it was hardly seasoned. Got cold right away because it wasn't properly heated. Also, it lacked flavor. My friend ordered a steak salad and she returned it. I was asked to taste it to get my opinion and i thought the steak meat texture seemed off. No flavor and i had to chew and chew and chew. The meat wasn't tough but the texture just seemed odd. The salad was returned and chili was ordered just for the sake of eating something to finish dinner. I would only return here for drinks possibly. read more

I stopped by Bryan's American Grille on a Tuesday afternoon for a late lunch. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Sliders, which came with Fries. The sliders were loaded with flavor, and the fries appeared to be freshly cut, and were also flavorful, though maybe a touch saltier than needed. My waitress was friendly and efficient. Service: First time here and they said to just pick a place to sit, Plenty of seating. Bar style. Clean. Friendly. A lot of regulars seem to be here. This was a small bar and grille close to where we were staying. When we walked in we found it was not very diverse but we enjoyed the food that was brought promptly. The waitress was attentive to a degree because she seemed to have many tables. Not a place I would go back to but it wasn't horrible. read more

I like the establishment and would equate my experience more positive than negative as the service was fast and friendly. Interior is like an old fashioned pub. The food just lacked a distinction from others. Chili: 3 of 5: There is nothing offensive nor standout from the chili. It's heavily lacking in spice or flavor of the chili. It's just ok. Rueben 4 of 5: There is flavor here, but the meat isn't as tender as I would like. The sauce also comes on the side, but it does seem like this sand definitely needs it. I'd rather it just come on it honestly. The rye is beautifully toasted though. I recommend trying this place out to find your dish. I'll probly try another item on the menu at some point. I was craving fried chicken and I found this place on Yelp - it did NOT disappoint!! The chicken was so good, I couldn't stop eating it! And the fries were surprisingly good too - they seemed like simple home-cut fries but they had a really nice crisp on them and were perfectly salted. I also had a good mango mojito. Bottom line: Very good food, reasonably priced, casual, neighborly vibe. Definitely worth a try but leave your high end labels at home and throw on your jean jacket and trucker hat. Have been wanting to stop in for a while. The place is totally casual, unpretentious "pubby", but distinctly Americana through and through with copies of the Constitution and other Americana memorabilia on the walls. There are also plenty of monitors to catch your favorite game as well. Grab a seat at the bar or grab a high or low table--suit yourself. Our party was greeted real neighborly and welcoming like-- "grab a seat wherever you want." Our waitress was super friendly and efficient. Started with the mushroom soup which was luscious, deep in flavor. Had to go with the Patriot Burger, sweet potato fries, and slaw. Everything was mouthwatering good. Coupled with a Yuengling draft this was the perfect Thursday night unwinder. My only minor suggestion to the restaurant: You could go a little more ample on the fries, it won't break you. Overall this place is a perfect casual get away. We happened to come on trivia night which added some more liveliness and simple fun to the overall casual vibe. I try to visit Bryan's whenever I'm in Downers Grove. Their menu is extensive, and the restaurant is a warm, welcoming environment. I've always received quick and friendly service. We had such a great night at Bryan's American Grille in Downers Grove! This was our second time there, and once again, the food was amazing. We had the fried chicken dinner and a Reuben -- both were delicious and cooked perfectly. Kim was our server and she was fantastic -- so friendly and on top of everything. Honestly, everyone there is super attentive and makes sure you're having a good experience, which we really appreciated. Chi Town Duo was playing live while we were there, and they were fantastic. Decent selection of fresh made options. Free popcorn whole you wait was nice. Waitress was super friendly. If you're in the mood for a cocktail, the mojitos look delicious. Bryan's has so many great qualities, it's hard to list them all. It reminds me of "Cheers" with its friendly local vibe. I enjoy watching the regulars sit at the bar and talk while watching Jeopardy or sports. The food is outstanding and the service is as well. They have a big menu and everything we've had is outstanding. They have a popcorn machine and you can help yourself to a little snack anytime. It is a great family spot and I'm sure very fun later with music and trivia. We're lucky to have found this spot! read more

The menu keeps changing with new favorites. I love their homemade chicken and rice soup. The three main servers are sisters and make you feel like you belong here. They are also kickass bartenders and will make you drinks not even in the menu. The pulled pork nachos are a favorite. Bryan's is definitely a hole in a wall place - where one might drive by and not stop. They would be missing out. Very home town feel here and I thought the wait staff was very nice. We started with the Garlic Shrimp - and it was fabulous. I would get that again - and since there were many other dishes on the menu that referenced it - I would order those the next time, too. My husband got the Greek Salad and I got the Chicken Fajita Salad. Both were good - but mine had too much chicken. I know - a weird complaint - but I like more salad than protein. Best homemade corned beef and cabbage! Irish Soda bread was unusual and delicious. The very Irish pub was like being in Europe - the wooden floors, walls and furniture - wish we were there for the live music. We were welcomed by Bryan himself. Service was efficient and friendly. Bryan's, like the name says, is an American bar and grill. By "American", I mean that they have a gigantic American flag painted on the outside, and more American flags on the inside. They also had some decorations that made me feel like I would be best keeping my political views to myself. Not that I was planning on talking politics, just sayin' there's a certain vibe. By "bar", I mean they have a bar, front and center as you come in, with several people sitting at it, and lots of TVs showing sports. By "grill", I mean they serve food. There's a dining area away from the bar, and a waitress who comes around, but it's pretty much bar food, burgers and fried fish and wings, along with some salads and sandwiches. They greeted us right away when we came in, sat us down and made us feel welcome. The service was a little slow, but I think the waitress was covering the bar too, so it's understandable. The burger was standard bar style, tasty enough. The fish and chips were likewise basic, but good. The pasta came out lukewarm, unfortunately, but didn't give the impression that being warmer would have saved it. The grilled shrimp were pretty unpleasant. I think it could be a fine hangout, if you're in the neighborhood, and feel like a part of the community they're clearly there to serve. It's clean and pleasant and they have music and karaoke. But for us, it was an OK dinner but not one we'll be heading back to soon. read more

An American Grill with a diverse menu. I've drove pass this place 100 times. It's one of those restaurants where you say I'm going to go there 1 day amd never go. Well i did. It was a surprise. I didn't know what to expect and because of the wide variety of different types of choices. I mean burgers, pizza and wings but also garlic shrimp and pasta, and cajun black salmon. That's a bit concerning. You wonder what do they do good. So I started with clam Chowder. It was different and it was good. Than I went with the garlic shrimp and spaghetti. It was tasty not a home run but solid. Overall I will go back and find out not just what they do good but what they do really good. read more

Checked this place out after seeing other Yelp reviews and I am 100% happy we did! From the moment we turned the corner and saw the red, white and blue building to the warm and friendly service, this place is a definite gem sports on tv, cold beer and even colder glasses to pour said beer in Shannon helped us with our choices and was spot on about the Kentucky Bourbon sauce. Definitely a yummy fingertip-licking choice ON the wings instead of on the side. Okay choices on N/A beers but I'm used to it. Burgers came in , or and lots of choices of sides...even Overall, a definite good time! Just goes to prove, don't judge a business by their shirts. Giving Bryan's one star because you didn't like what they were wearing, I'd hate to see what you would do to the women of Hooters. read more

Personally, I think restaurants should be neutral so that all customers feel welcome. We are quickly and left. UPDATE AFTER MANAGER REPLIED: I am glad to hear that you support groups from all political persuasions. But I want to point out an inaccuracy in your reply: the gentleman that brought out my meal had both a Trump hat and a Trump t shirt on. You said that your staff only had shirts on with or 1776. That is not true. That's when I looked around and saw that almost all of the patrons had Trump gear on. I probably would not have noticed them if your server (I think he was the manager) had a full Trump outfit on. I don't care what patrons wear, but it makes customers uncomfortable when your staff wear political outfits. Do you also wear Biden hats and shirts on other days of the week? Great neighborhood place. Wish it was in my neighborhood. We tried Sunday late afternoon. Never heard of it before but we will definitely be back. Service was awesome. There was only one server working but she was fueled by coffee and Christmas cheer. She handled the place with ease. Our friends both had shrimp and cod. I'm not a fish person but the shrimp looked awesome. My husband had a Phillie steak sandwich with fries for his side. I had shepherds pie. It was delicious . Yelp works man! We were in the area for a little Halloween fun and dinnertime struck. Searched for a couple minutes with a place that had chicken fingers for picky-eater, and found a place that had fried chicken pictures on Yelp. That is a bigger win than the fingers so we stopped in. Make no mistake, this place is a bar, but a bar with great food. That fresh fried chicken was darn tasty and with a skin that was crispy and light and tasty. Some of the best fried chicken I have had in a while. I couldn't resist the burger with caramelized onions and bacon, whatever it was called. I'm sure Kim our waitress could identify it for you. It was darn good also. My wife got the Reuben sandwich which she said was excellent. We also split a warm pretzel with beer cheese, which was an excellent way to warm up after being outside in the chilly weather. Also I had a Bryan's Ale, which was decent. Bryan's is a great local place. We have been there many times and tried various menu options and all have been very good. If you are looking for a good reasonably priced burger this is your place. My daughter the Meatloaf and their special seasoning on the popcorn is terrific. The other thing that manes Bryan's stand out from other places is the service. The servers are always friendly and attentive and Bryan usually comes out to personally check on his guests. read more
