This park was amazing. We ended up here after walking around on a heatwave day in the city. So we found some tables and chairs in the park under some shade and then, boop! Ping pong ball flying by, it's a public ping pong table with hard core pong players. Complete with score keepers and fans. One of the best ping pong games I have ever seen. This girl had this amazing spin on her serve and when the pin pong ball hit the metal net it was like a gong going off, it was so intense!!!! Aside from the ping pong the park has food vendors on each corner and it was a nice place to people watch or just be outside under the shade from all of the beautiful trees. A Disheartening Experience at The Rink at Bryant Park What was meant to be a celebratory visit to The Rink at Bank of America Winter Village in Bryant Park turned into a deeply disappointing experience. I attended with a senior Bank of America executive to witness firsthand how their sponsorship dollars were being utilized--and we were both appalled. Within just 35 minutes, we were reprimanded multiple times for violating an overwhelming list of rigid rules: * No figure skating allowed unless confined to a small 15-foot circle * No standing near the boards * No photography permitted * No holding hands on the ice * And the list goes on... Rather than fostering joy, community, and winter magic, the atmosphere felt restrictive and unwelcoming. It was a stark contrast to what one would expect from a marquee destination bearing the Bank of America name. This experience has prompted serious reconsideration of future support and contributions to Bryant Park. Sponsorship should reflect values of inclusion, celebration, and public goodwill--not unnecessary policing and disappointment. read more

We stopped here on the way to the Empire State Building. It's a block away from the Empire State Building. This park is much smaller in comparison to Central Park. Every time, I am in this area (between 33rd & Times Square), I always visit this place and relax for some time. It is a green oasis in the middle of Manhattan's hustle and bustle that enjoys great popularity among locals and visitors. Bryant Park was a seedy area known for crime and a hangout for the undesirables until 1989 when the city reclaimed it and turned it into a beautiful urban oasis. Locals have embraced this park, and today, it's a pleasure to walk through . The grounds feature monuments and gardens, and "Le Carrousel," a popular carousel. Such a fun and "free" activity to do in NYC during the holiday to people watch and explore the Christmas market. Free if you don't purchase any overpriced drinks/treats/items or go ice skating, which is also +overpriced lol. This is a beautiful small park to visit, with great open seating. They change it up seasonally, it is especially nice during the holidays. Weather permitting, they offer entertainment, kids activities, yoga, poetry, trivia contests, movie nights and much more. The Bryant Park Grill has a great patio for dining (and is beautiful inside too), and I should mention "Le Carrousel" which delights young children at the rate of $4 per ride (10 rides for $30). Size wise, it's a modest park, especially when compared to Central Park, though we always stop by Bryant Park when in the city. read more

Bryant Park Holiday fair is a dump. Tourist trap Mecca . Overpriced Chinese nic nacs . Food is meh quality . Everything is a huge disappointment. If I could give it less than 0 stars I would . You will get 10x better food a block away in any direction. As a 55 year New York City resident I can tell you that New Yorkers steer clear of these awful pop up festive style food / craft events. I discovered this park through a friend of mine. Absolutely stunning market at Christmas time. Perfect for family, friends, & loves. Lined with a beautiful city landscape, an ice skating rink, a fountain, and christmas decor all over. There is a bit of soenthong for everyone. They have your Christmas favorites from cocoa to gourmet styled food. There are also so many picture taking opportunities as well. I'd definitely say to bundle up though because the winter can be so cold. Make sure to bring layers & a jacket with a hood. Please don't forget your gloves. I would recommend coming st a reasonable time because Christmas in the city can be a bit congested. Lines are to be expected & some items can be pricey. I would recommend having a meal before entering the park and having the occasional snack if you plan activities. Also, take advantage of the public transportation systems & walking- if you are a tourist this will help you save your expenses for activities you want to try. Each stop isn't too far away so there isn't much of a wait :) this is definitely one of the most underrated areas that I would highly recommed! read more

As I was just there I will make this a quick one for the season. So it's now The Christmas Season in New York City and truth be told there is nothing quite like it. It's around this time that I begin adventuring around the Big Apple to document the holiday trees and overall vibe. One of the places that I like to visit is Bryant Park. They are known for having a beautiful tree which is a great photo op and for the last few years they have even set up a small Winter Village with dozens of shops that sell far too many things to line out in this quick summary. I will say that I've seen chocolates, beverages, trinkets of all kinds and even winter wear like hats and gloves. In addition to the market, you can sit down at either the Bryant Park Cafe or the Bryant Park Grill with the latter one seeming to be a tad pricier to indulge in. Hey it's the holidays so indulge yourself a little. There is also a massive ice-skating ring to enjoy and if my research is correct this is free if you bring your own skates or $15-$50 to rent skates. I don't know if there is a time limit but I guess there might be if there is a tremendous crowd waiting to enjoy this part of the park. I have not skated since I owned the skates with double blades on them as a child. For me, its a whole lot of falling down. It does look like fun though and this part of the park remains open until March. There are also plenty of chairs and tables for you to sit at if you feel like indulging in something that you brought from somewhere else but do be a good citizen and properly dispose of any rubbish since there is no need to be a slob. If you make it to the park during the holidays I say enjoy yourself and don't forget to pop into the New York Public Library which is right behind it because that is a wonderful experience of its own. read more

Recommended -- just be smart about when you go. We came with our family during the first week of December and made the rookie mistake of showing up around 2 PM on a Saturday. It was absolutely packed -- shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, people constantly brushing past, and lots of frustrated visitors complaining about the congestion. We didn't last long and decided to leave. Thankfully, we gave it another try later that night around 8:30 PM, and it was a completely different experience. The crowds had thinned out significantly, we were able to snag ice-skating reservations, and even had space to walk around and grab some snacks without feeling overwhelmed. We stayed until about 11 PM, and it was calm, festive, and actually enjoyable. Bottom line: great experience if you plan your visit carefully. Early morning or late evenings are the way to go -- weekend afternoons, not so much. read more

Let me tell YOU dear reader, this gem is the bees knees for residents and tourists alike! Can't believe I haven't given a review to my FAVE NYc (Manhattan) park. It is worth the commute to this gorgeous landmark situated right behind the NYPL. Here's a sample of the season-contingent daily activities and semi -regular shenanigans (Ice skating, bumper cars or ice, igloos, holiday markets, bingo, musical chairs, opera, dance performances, etc.) for kids of all ages. There's a carousel, a Pétanque court, ping pong tables, a children's library, an adult library, food and beverage kiosks, an art cart, yoga on the lawn (I could write a song about the beauty of being on the lawn), beekeeping, tai chi... I could go on and oooooooonnnnnn. Be clear... MOST of it is free and open to the public and listed typically at least a week in advance on their web page. As a native NYer, this ranks higher than Central Park. Pro tip: If you can't make it to an event, you can often watch livestream it on their webcam's site and/or on IG. There are various events throughout the year, hosted at the park - I have been multiple times to check out the Winter Village. There are plenty of tables with chairs to enjoy your treats; some pathways can be a bit narrow due to the number of patrons, and the park can be pretty packed. Disappointing Service Despite a Premium Experience We visited Bryant Park and booked ice skating tickets for the kids along with a reserved Igloo Globe dining experience. Unfortunately, the service did not match the high price we paid. While the girls were skating, they were having trouble with their skates and asked for one of the animal skating supports, just like other children were using. The attendant responded by saying, "This is for kids," without realizing -- or acknowledging -- that they were also kids. The lack of awareness and dismissive attitude was disappointing and unnecessary. When we arrived at the Igloo Globes, the staff member assigned to us was relaxing inside another globe, and we had to wait about 10 minutes before she came to assist us. Once we were seated, she immediately began rushing us while we were still reviewing the menu and the meals included in our package. After that, she never checked on us. We had to look for her just to ask for water. When she finally brought it, the only thing she said was, "This will be extra," in an irritated tone. We were fully aware water was not included, but considering the very high price of the experience, the attitude was unnecessary. The worst moment came at the end of our reservation. Instead of a polite reminder, she approached the globe and yelled, "Your time is up!" There was no thank you, no happy new year, no have a nice day just rude and abrupt behavior. Bryant Park itself is beautiful, but between the dismissive treatment of the kids during skating and the poorly managed Igloo Globe experience, the visit was extremely disappointing. For such a festive, family-oriented attraction, the service fell far below expectations. read more

Did you know that Bryant Park is one of the world's busiest public parks in the entire world? Visited by over 12 million people a year, located between 5th & 6th Avenues and 40th & 42nd Streets right in the heart of Midtown NYC. Almost 10 acres in size, easily accessible to The MTA, by car, or by foot. Most people may come on weekends for family fun, I've only been here during the winter time as it's very festive during Christmas time. There were many holiday shops, food halls, The Lodge, Ice Skating Rink, and surprisingly public restrooms facilities! Whenever you're in NYC during the holidays or anytime of the year, head down to Bryant Park! read more

Honestly, I had never heard of Bryant Park until I started looking for places that would be decked out for Christmas while in New York. Sad, but that is how NYC is, always discovering new things. When looking at it's location I was surprised to learn that it is right in front of the New York Public Library, a destination all in itself. We got to the park late, around 10:30pm, which still had a lot of people but probably not as bad as it is earlier in the day. The only thing with that was that the surrounding pop up buinesses were closing up soon for the night, but I did get the one thing I wanted the most. A delicious cup of Belgium Hot Chocolate! Walking around, watching people ice skate or try to anyway, and just enjoying the beautiful tree on a chilly night really was perfect. Surrounding the ice skating rink were the food shops, a two story event space, plenty of seating, shops, and igloos that normally would have been available to rent, but it was late. Igloos are fun anywhere you go, honestly, and we would do them over and over again. Breweries are the best though! Visiting Bryant Park was a great end to a busy day in the city to just sit and relax, taking in all the sites and holiday cheer! read more

Bryant Park is my favorite place in New York City. Probably it is the most relaxing place for me. The reason is as follows. First of all, there is New York Public Library right next. When I lived in New York, on weekends I sometimes visited the public library, and read so many books that interested me, "The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde" and "Ulysses by James Joyce" etc. While I immersed in the story, I was able to travel to different regions and to all parts of the world. It was a time when my imagination could gain freedom. After the time of my free imagination, I left the public library and went to Bryant Park in order to drink a cup of coffee in Bryant Park Cafe. This cafe has open space, and I sit down the chair outside and ordered a black coffee. In winter season, I drank it while it was steaming. When I looked around there, there were opened a various shops and Christmas market and ice rink. And then, I profoundly felt comfortable and peaceful. I strongly recommend this place. I think that Bryant Park is the most relaxing spot in New York City. read more

Even though I was here before Halloween in October, they already had Bryant Park set up like a Christmas village. They had small booths where people were selling food or souvenir type items. There is plenty of seating and it's a large outside area. Saturday around lunchtime, there was a farmers market type thing set up in the street on 6th Avenue. They had so much food. Bryant Park albeit not very big has plenty to offer every single season. All though it might seem busy at times every time I have returned here I always find a place to sit and relax . Surrounded by massive trees, and plenty of coffee shops the park is located just steps away from Times Square. This park offers a nice moment of solace from the busy Manhattan streets. During the winter, there is a spectacular Winter Village which is perfect for ice skating, dining and holiday shopping... something for everyone! The bustling of people in their winter attire and the chill in the air added the merriment to the Bank of America Winter Village christmas market which offers a ice skating rink, festive food and pop ups like cozy igloos you can rent that hold 8 and you cant miss the The Lodge with a rinkside open air place to enjoy festive cocktails and fun while you watch the ice skaters, huge christmas tree view and or the games on the big screen. Each vendor offers a unique item like the whoopsi macaroons. The biggest filling makes them the best I've tried and grilled cheese sandwiches in colors. On our walk to the MTA stop near 8th and 42nd street brought us by the park vicinity. There's the holiday Christmas village. It's much bigger than we both thought. We will have to take another day to walk through and see more of the market offering. Lots of random gift ideas. Most of the kiosks and food offerings are around the village park rink. It's nice for a stroll and look-see. The market reminds me of the different Platz Weihnachtsmarkt around Koeln in Germany. read more

Stopped to sit and rest after all the walking we were doing that day. Noticed there were several small tables and we were lucky to nab one of them. It was quite busy. Noticed all the little eateries. We came back another day to purchase a pastry that my daughter was dying to try. Lucky to find a seat that day as well. Not to far from our hotel and not to far from Times Square.
