Bryant Street Tavern is a great new chapter for the space in Highland Park. It's cozy, welcoming, and already feels like a neighborhood favorite in the making. The staff is friendly, the vibe is relaxed but and the whole place just feels good. Definitely worth a visit

We started out with some drinks- I got a martini and my mom got a N/A cocktail. They have so many different martini flavors which is cool. I went with a cucumber martini. For food, we started with the spinach dip. For entrees, I ordered Nonee's Veal Ravioli and mom ordered Cod Florentine. Everything was good but the spinach dip was our favorite bite. Our waitress was very nice and attentive as well. One thing to note is that I feel like the prices for some items are a little high for the portion offered. Other than that, everything was great and it's such a nice little neighborhood gem!

Examples of menu items are shrimp cocktail, charcuterie board, salads, chicken marsala, cod florentine, lamb, filet mignon, and pastas. Drinks include wines, cocktails, and beers. Prices are moderate. I made a reservation for dinner for my husband and me. When we entered the restaurant, employees immediately greeted us, and they kindly seated us at a nice table that was a bit private near a window. Most other seating was either along a wall or at the bar next to other customers. I really liked the jazz prints and murals on the walls. Throughout our meal, the employees promptly brought our drinks and foods, and they frequently checked in with us. My husband and I started our meal with a Mary Pickford cocktail (Barcardi, pineapple juice, maraschino liqueur, and cherry), Cobb Salad (mixed greens, pickled red onions, pancetta, gorgonzola, cherry tomatoes, hard-boiled egg, and ranch dressing), and Insalata (mixed greens, parmesan, pickled red onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, dried cranberries, sautéed mushrooms, and house vinaigrette). I liked the cocktail, and the salads were a large size, contained very fresh ingredients, and tasted very good. Our main courses were Blackened Salmon (Cajun-seasoned salmon with potatoes, asparagus, tomatoes, and herbs) and Short Rib Gnocchi (short rib, pancetta, garlic cream sauce, and parmesan). I liked my salmon and vegetables, but my husband felt unhappy about the oil sitting on top of his gnocchi. The waitress, however, noticed that he ate little, and she made things right. We had an early reservation, so we unfortunately finished eating before the music started. We saw the musicians setting up. I bet that their performance sounded great. Tip: A parking lot is in back of the restaurant.

The seating is basically one giant bar area (with two standalone tables in the back), so not being able to sit across from each other made it difficult to carry conversations. However, we got to sit in the coveted orange chair which was cool! For a drink, I ordered the Fu Dog. Their drink menu has detailed descriptions and also illustrated pictures of the drinks. That was nice and helped me decide what I wanted to order. For food, I ordered the ikura (salmon roe) nigiri, and miso black cod. The food and drinks are delicious. It was also neat to be able to see the food and drinks being prepared. I thought this place was really neat and the food was great! I'll definitely visit again but just with a smaller party!

This was our first time back since they opened December 2024 and there's been so much growth since then! They've tightened up service and we thought the menu was more cohesive now. We started off with some amuse-bouche before heading over to the dinner table for the main courses. They did a great job of explaining the ingredients and techniques used in each course and everything felt very intentional. My favorite dishes were the swordfish, duck breast, and parsnip cheesecake. Each course comes with a drink pairing and I was really impressed by the complex and unique cocktails. They give you a printout of everything you ate and drank at the end in a goodie bag along with some cookies! This is such a fun and delicious elevated dining experience that's great for special occasions or really whenever you just want to treat yourself.

There is a hard start time as the tasting menu is done in a large group setting-serving everyone at once. So, we found ourselves wandering around the neighborhood and then standing in front of the door waiting for 6pm to strike, I felt like a creep. The area itself is an open floor plan so when they welcome you in, it's confusing to see the table we will be seated around but also see little stations for the canapés. Little awkward. We found a two-seater, and as a plus size woman I felt a bit cramped. My husband and I are both tall (5'11" and 6'3" so we were both fighting over who got the bench seat vs the little stool. There's always that awkwardness when you're looking around trying to figure out what the heck is about to happen and wondering..when is it time to EAT. We did 3 or 4 canapés which were all enjoyable-one that stands out to me had goat cheese and beets-yum! We are asked to take our seats at the large table and ...awkward again bc we are just kind of all looking around waiting. I have a sensitivity to alcohol so I did the N.A. pairing and I didn't feel like I missed out on much. The sommelier did a great job at explaining the notes and why each pairing happened. I really enjoyed the tasting menu. The chef kept us abreast of what we were trying and looped in other accompanying staff which gave us some of their backstory which was nice. I love that the restaurant has an urban garden and tries to reduce waste-that's so important. Minus 1 star because of the clunkiness of the bench area vs the large table where we ate and the cost. $275/pp plus tip isn't something that many can swing in a blue collar city.

My girl friends and I came after four years of me wanting to come here. I love Gravel Grinder and live close to an OTB so heard of Dancing Gnome from that. Finally made our way there and well, make sure you do not bring young kids. My friend had an 18 month old with us and as she was BUYING a beer from them, the guy who worked there asked if she "could keep the screaming to a minimum." An eighteen month old!!! And Mother's Day is tomorrow, nice. He said that they had to draw a line somewhere and he wasn't kidding. The 18 month old was not running around screaming crying all day. We were outside having the kids play and when my friend was buying a beer he got a bit fussy and was told to keep it to a minimum. Needless to say, we will NOT be coming back. If you have small children, I would not suggest this place. Super disappointing. I've always hyped their beer and place up and now I can't support it. We ended up going to Grist House and it was a WAY better vibe and WAY busier...I wonder why. I should have known when their sign said no dogs allowed.
