    Lemon poppy deviled egg!
    Molly H.

Oh my goodness, what a hidden gem! Recently visited Frick Park Tavern for a friend's birthday dinner and I was blown away by the charm and the food at this lovely spot. It's cozy and well-decorated inside, not unlike a nice British pub, and the food offerings were plentiful! I enjoyed the special deviled eggs (lemon poppy, which sounds strange, but they were great!), the spinach and artichoke dip, and a salmon salad with fries on the side. Everything was excellent! Service was friendly and attentive to a large group, which I was impressed by throughout the evening. A great place for a date, bringing parents for a nice meal, or sitting at the bar for snacks and drinks. I'll be back ASAP!

Tavern steak. Very small and barely any sides.

The issue I have with this restaurant is the price to portion size. Serving sizes are extremely small. Most of our party left still feeling hungry and un-satisfied. $58 plus tax for a steak that's barely the size of a small kid's meal hamburger. The sides also barely made a dent on anyone's plate. I will say our server was great and very accommodating. Unfortunately, I don't see us coming back.

Frick Park Tavern continues to be a solid neighborhood restaurant. Got the salmon salad and the haddock special. My only complaint is the food is a bit salty sometimes. Bartender made me a great gin drink not in the menu. The perogies were excellent served with crispy Brussels sprouts. Ended the night with a rich chocolate cake!

1/9/25 Ate List: Custom Burger - Score 6.7 W/ Fries - 5.9 Starting here, the restaurant is beautiful. Cool spot in this area, moody lighting, stylized bar, feels like a cross between a moody wood and green chic office and an elevated hotel bar. Love it. Now your service may vary - we were seated immediately but felt like our waiter was having a bad day. A table was seated ten minutes after we arrived and they received both their app and entrée before ours even though they would logically be receiving theirs after us. Didn't feel great watching it happen especially when our orders were not far off from theirs. The burger components were pretty good. I added a fried egg, bacon, House Sauce, and red onion. Everything tasted a bit more charred than I'd have liked especially since I went Medium Rare. Some fries were more burnt and crispy and others were fine. But overall were heavy on seasoning and were just okay. Might come back, would likely try other menu items. Hoping for better service too.

So my husband & I were here date night. First off the ambience caught us. It was so romantic with a casual upscale/speakeasy vibe. We ordered drinks- the espresso martini was good. Husband enjoyed his mule. For app the deviled eggs were gooood! I had the French onion soup-- it wasn't watery like many places. It was thick with great flavor. Husband had the burger which he loved. So I'd food was on point. Definitely on the pricey side but great for a date night. Good wine list.

We had a lovely dinner here on Saturday night. It was pretty busy, but we were able to get right in without a reservation. The service was quick and friendly and the food was delicious. We had the deviled eggs and caesar salad to start. The eggs of the day were orange chili, which was a nice sweet/spicy contrast. The Caesar salad is made with homemade dressing and was delicious. For entrees we had the blackened salmon and BYO burger. Both were excellent and the portions sizes were pretty big. The restaurant has a dark/cozy vibe, which was nice for a chilly fall evening. Highly recommend!

Had a STELLAR meal here! Started off with two glasses of wine. I had the Pinot Grigio and I really enjoyed it- crisp and refreshing. The bread with their seasonal butter was fantastic, served with plain butter and a maple brown sugar butter. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've had in pgh, perfect amount of dressing and great for sharing! We opted to share the meatloaf entree. They charge $5 for sharing entrees which is totally fair- they plated two separate portions for us. And the portions were so generous. The meatloaf was delicious and oh so comforting.

Neighborhood gem!! So happy I have finally tried this place. I have been here 3 times now so it's safe to say I can leave an in-depth review and save you the time and trouble reading Great food! Beautiful ambience! Sometimes there is a wait, I would say make a reservation but luckily anytime we've been told there is a wait- it was shorter than they anticipated I've tried the meatloaf, the roasted half chicken, chicken parm, mussels, soup, multiple cocktails, and some of the wine. Everything has always been great!

We had never been to Frick Park Tavern before and to be frank, I thought based off of the name that it would be a hole in the wall with pub food. Much to our surprise, the inside was classy with great vibes (the bar itself is so beautiful), the food was delicious, and the service wonderful! What a great Regent Square find, would recommend! As an FYI, they're not able to split up items between cards but it wasn't a big deal because everyone in the group just took a dessert or app and paid for it.

Chef Drew's consistency deserves its flowers because it's rare to find a place that delivers that level of care every time you walk through the doors. And no-I wasn't invited. I just genuinely believe in spending my own money at places I enjoy because that's what keeps this industry going around. The spots that make people feel something deserve people showing back up for them. The chicken parm will neverrrrr not get ordered at this point and I truly don't think I've ever left without a full belly and leftovers I was excited about later. Huge thank you as well for the duck dish and champagne that somehow made an already good night feel even better. This dinner was with Ashley ( @burghgourmetgirl ) -someone I met when I first started putting everything I had into content creation. She works hard, plays even harder, has seen more of the world than most people ever will, and somehow still stays one of the most genuine people I know. Pittsburgh's lucky to have her, but I have a feeling she leaves a little piece of herself everywhere she goes.

We had plenty leftover and I am still snacking on it at home. We also got the chicken parm and rigatoni which was delicious. The chicken parm is massive and definitely a show stopper. Kicking myself for not ordering a pasta, since it's all homemade:), but I guess I'll have to make another reservation!! Can't wait to visit when the outdoor patio is open.

We had a group of 17 people, and they easily were able to get us in! There's a parking garage across the street, so parking was not super difficult. My husband ordered the brown sugar pop tart, French onion soup, and their famous burger. He enjoyed every aspect of his meal. Our group also tried the pancakes as well as the crab benedict. Both of those dishes were so-so, and I wouldn't get them again! They have a little bakery/cafe on site where you can order pastries. They are also known for their vinegar pie, so of course, I had to try it! It was definitely a different flavor, and I am glad that I tried it. It tasted like a less sweet version of a pecan pie. The vinegar really helped to cut the sweetness. This restaurant was accommodating and the service was great. Their food was good but the company was even better. I will definitely be back!

There is a hard start time as the tasting menu is done in a large group setting-serving everyone at once. So, we found ourselves wandering around the neighborhood and then standing in front of the door waiting for 6pm to strike, I felt like a creep. The area itself is an open floor plan so when they welcome you in, it's confusing to see the table we will be seated around but also see little stations for the canapés. Little awkward. We found a two-seater, and as a plus size woman I felt a bit cramped. My husband and I are both tall (5'11" and 6'3" so we were both fighting over who got the bench seat vs the little stool. There's always that awkwardness when you're looking around trying to figure out what the heck is about to happen and wondering..when is it time to EAT. We did 3 or 4 canapés which were all enjoyable-one that stands out to me had goat cheese and beets-yum! We are asked to take our seats at the large table and ...awkward again bc we are just kind of all looking around waiting. I have a sensitivity to alcohol so I did the N.A. pairing and I didn't feel like I missed out on much. The sommelier did a great job at explaining the notes and why each pairing happened. I really enjoyed the tasting menu. The chef kept us abreast of what we were trying and looped in other accompanying staff which gave us some of their backstory which was nice. I love that the restaurant has an urban garden and tries to reduce waste-that's so important. Minus 1 star because of the clunkiness of the bench area vs the large table where we ate and the cost. $275/pp plus tip isn't something that many can swing in a blue collar city.

I've pondered for about two weeks whether I wanted to post this review, but it is my honest experience. I've experienced a lot of tasting menus, including a ridiculous number of James Beard and Michelin-level restaurants, so I had high expectations. The atmosphere felt more casual than anticipated, and the space--surrounded by fermenting and dehydrating equipment--wasn't the elevated setting I associate with a $275 tasting. The noise from the machines during the first part of the meal was also distracting. It still felt like a place that was recently converted from a different concept. I know they are showcasing different was of preparation but the setup was cluttering. Service and pacing never quite clicked. Guests start in a lounge and are served about five canapés with an awkward pace and sequence. The lounge area isn't unique and doesn't feel distinctly set apart from the dining room, and the entire 6 p.m. seating hinges on everyone arriving on time. When several diners showed up late, the evening's rhythm stalled before the first course even landed--an unfortunate distraction for a format that relies on flow. The food showcases some thoughtful ideas, but the execution struggled, with some dishes having way too many ideas and/or elements. Very little was memorable, and many dishes arrived lukewarm, if not cool. Unlike most chef's counters and/or tasting menus where the kitchen and assembly are combined, Spork carries all the plates and cooked ingredients from the kitchen to a cold stainless steel counter, then assembles for guests. The result is a disjointed service and errors in food quality. The required drink pairing added a significant cost, and while a few pours worked well, others overshadowed the dishes instead of lifting them (cocktails specifically). But they actually grow many of their own herbs and vegetables right next door and most of dishes looked great. The Maine scallop with calamari was the standout. I have no issue spending hundreds for a great dining experience, but for $275 + tax + tip...I expected a more polished and cohesive experience, and much better execution with the food--temperature and flavor. With some adjustments around the dishes, service, and the mandatory pairing, it could come closer to matching the price point.
