Much cuter than i expected. When I think tavern, I think dated and super casual but this neighborhood kitchen and bar was slightly more upscale. The lights were low, the dining room was cozy and it filled up fast. So, people really like this place. Don't arrive a second before 5pm bc you'll be waiting outside. We highly recommend a reservation. Service was timely and friendly. My drink was amazing. Highly recommend their cocktails. You can still enjoy classic tavern beers while watching the game at the bar. The food is what I have come to expect in Pittsburgh. It's never wow knock your socks off but it's good. I saw lots of people ordering the deviled eggs which I would try next time. I had the seafood special which was really good, filling. My daughter had a burger that she said was good. Oh my goodness, what a hidden gem! Recently visited Frick Park Tavern for a friend's birthday dinner and I was blown away by the charm and the food at this lovely spot. It's cozy and well-decorated inside, not unlike a nice British pub, and the food offerings were plentiful! I enjoyed the special deviled eggs (lemon poppy, which sounds strange, but they were great!), the spinach and artichoke dip, and a salmon salad with fries on the side. Everything was excellent! Service was friendly and attentive to a large group, which I was impressed by throughout the evening. First time back since 2020. Amazing crowd but really didn't have anything that was going to draw me back considering all of the other options within a couple of miles. Service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant albeit a bit noisy. The French Onion Soup was tasty as was the Panko Chicken Salad. Both Decaf and Regular Coffee were served very unwarm. The issue I have with this restaurant is the price to portion size. Serving sizes are extremely small. Most of our party left still feeling hungry and un-satisfied. $58 plus tax for a steak that's barely the size of a small kid's meal hamburger. The sides also barely made a dent on anyone's plate. Frick Park Tavern continues to be a solid neighborhood restaurant. Got the salmon salad and the haddock special. My only complaint is the food is a bit salty sometimes. Wait staff was rude. Especially the hostess. I had a reservation for 6pm on a Saturday night and was sat in the front corner table in the bar area right next to the door. I had asked the hostess if we could move in the dining room area as there were clearly more than 4 tables open. She said no, then immediately sat a group of 3 in the dining area that had no reservation. So we asked again if we could at least move to the next table over to be away from the door. Again, no because of "incoming reservations". We stuck around for about 15 minutes and not a single group came in after us. Got waited on for drinks and immediately after, the waitress talked about us to the hostess. Heard enough of the conversation. Disappointed and will not return. Cool spot in this area, moody lighting, stylized bar, feels like a cross between a moody wood and green chic office and an elevated hotel bar. Love it. Now your service may vary - we were seated immediately but felt like our waiter was having a bad day. A table was seated ten minutes after we arrived and they received both their app and entrée before ours even though they would logically be receiving theirs after us. Didn't feel great watching it happen especially when our orders were not far off from theirs. The burger components were pretty good. I added a fried egg, bacon, House Sauce, and red onion. Everything tasted a bit more charred than I'd have liked especially since I went Medium Rare. Some fries were more burnt and crispy and others were fine. But overall were heavy on seasoning and were just okay. Might come back, would likely try other menu items. Hoping for better service too. read more

So my husband & I were here date night. First off the ambience caught us. It was so romantic with a casual upscale/speakeasy vibe. We ordered drinks- the espresso martini was good. We had the deviled eggs and caesar salad to start. The eggs of the day were orange chili, which was a nice sweet/spicy contrast. The Caesar salad is made with homemade dressing and was delicious. French onion soup got rave reviews from my partner! Also however, the menu pic on here is relatively accurate for what is offered, but the prices are now much more. The tavern steak apparently used to be $34, but it is now $52. I definitely enjoyed dinner, just be prepared for the prices. read more

Had a STELLAR meal here! Started off with two glasses of wine. I had the Pinot Grigio and I really enjoyed it- crisp and refreshing. The bread with their seasonal butter was fantastic, served with plain butter and a maple brown sugar butter. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've had in pgh, perfect amount of dressing and great for sharing! We opted to share the meatloaf entree. We had never been to Frick Park Tavern before and to be frank, I thought based off of the name that it would be a hole in the wall with pub food. Much to our surprise, the inside was classy with great vibes (the bar itself is so beautiful), the food was delicious, and the service wonderful! What a great Regent Square find, would recommend! I met my friend who is a regular at Frick Park Tavern. Was easy to get a reservation and we were specifically requested to sit in the bar area rather than outside. The outside seating or just a few tables on the sidewalk, which is not exactly what I look for when dining alfresco . Bar was great, service was excellent, and the salmon was perfectly cooked. Came here this past week for the first time since the pandemic began. I was very impressed with their covid 19 protocols. We came around 5pm and chose to be seated outside. They put up tables in the back parking lot. Its a cute area and I hope they continue this when the pandemic is finally over. I ordered the reuben and my daughter ordered the kids chicken and fries. My reuben was super good. The chicken came with 3 big pieces! She definitely had food for a couple of days. We both left very full and happy to be out! I stumbled upon the cutest corner restaurant/bar in frick park! The ambiance is calm and inviting with amazing tunes at the perfect volume. The staff is inviting and attentive to your needs, I typically sit at the bar as I go here solo and am always greeted with a warm smile! The food was AH-MAZING (you read that right!). I had the garlic mussels, it's listed as an appetizer but the portion is every bit of a meal. The garlic sauce that these mussels are bathed in is just delightful!! Stopped in to have dinner with my brothers. The pork chop was tender, juicy, and delicious. The apple glaze and braised red cabbage accentuated the pork chops' flavor. The manager came over and gave us a very rude, mean actually, scolding type lecture on how we stayed too long. The desert menu was just delivered prior to our being asked to vacate. Our bill was over $300 without desert. So much for an enjoyable evening out to celebrate Mother's Day. On the open table app it states 2 hour limit and we did not abuse that. read more

We called ahead to inquire about the seating availability and were excited when they informed us they had room for us. We were seated right away. I absolutely love the ambiance here- it certainly has a cozy tavern vibe going on. We didn't get an appetizer, although they all sounded delicious. We really enjoyed the complimentary bread- however, the oil wasn't great. It would have been better with a splash of vinegar. I had my eye on this restaurant for some time as I kept passing it to and from work. I finally visited on a Sunday at opening time and had a better than expected lovely experience dining solo. I say better than expected because I definitely expected the usual bar/pub level of fried food fare in an unassuming atmosphere. But, what I received was an inviting venue, the dining room cozy and warm softly lit with tabletops of single candles on each table. My server was courteous and knowledgeable never making me feel rushed and helping me make decisions throughout the visit. All totaled, I had 2 glasses of wine, Kung Fu Girl Reisling followed by an unoaked Chardonnay (that is key to me, the unoaked part), a delightful pecan and apple salad, 2 small dishes -- pork tacos and arancini, and, finally, a chocolate mousse dessert. Stopped by for a casual Tuesday night dinner and the restaurant was packed - glad we got a seat! The restaurant is so well decorated and feels classy, romantic, and a little hipster. I would feel just as comfortable eating here for a fancy dinner or chowing down after a hike in Frick park. We tried the calamari, which had some surprising deep fried banana peppers - our fave part! I could have eaten a whole bowl of just the peppers. I got the cauliflower steak entree. It was exciting to see a more unusual vegetarian main on the menu. The cauliflower was cooked very well and was tender in the stalk but not mushy in the florets. I can NEVER cook cauliflower steaks properly at home so this was a huge treat. Also came with a unique side dish combo- green beans, grains, and masala sauce. My partner got the chicken sandwich with avocado and fries. He was pretty in love with the sandwich. The fries were tasty, but did not have much rosemary flavor, as advertised. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and food here, can't wait to come back and see how they develop. read more
