This place is amazing. I've had two appointments at this location, Dr. was super nice and thorough. the office is very clean! when you walk in they check you in and offer you a beverage, you sit in a nice clean waiting room with white walls and free Chapstick... I've never been to such a swanky doctors office before but still also felt so welcome! There was zero waiting time for my appointment even for my first visit I thought there be forms to fill out on top of what I did online and as a new patient in most offices you're supposed arrive 15 to 20 minutes early for them to get you into the system but there was nothing that I needed to do I sat right down and then I was called immediately and even for my second appointment I sat down and was taken immediately! As per medical advice and receiving medications, one issue cleared immediately! They also make their own medications right there in House that are not covered by insurance, which I did purchase so to be continued for the prescriptions if those work! Only thing awkward is the directions/location however they do explain to you to use the address of the Wawa in your GPS!! read more

If I could give this place a negative number I would. the front desk reception doesn't look you in the eye upon arrival. booked a new person appointment which requires extra time. Dr. came in for 5 min , wrote a script then left . No welcoming to the practice, no patient care, and no returning for me. Unfortunately after a full year of trying to figure out my hair issues I have become very discouraged and disappointed with this practice. We finally went ahead and did a scalp biopsy after all the steroids and creams didn't work. I had followed up at the 12 day mark no results. Then again today and finally thought I would hear back. Taylor called me at 11:58, I missed the call as I was with a patient at work. I called back two minutes later and was told by a patient coordinator she'd call me back. I hear nothing all day until I finally call at 4:16 pm to follow up. The patient coordinator says Taylor tried to call at 3:15 which is a lie. There is no call or voicemail notification on my phone. Then the patient coordinator tells me she can't bother any of the providers and I'm out of luck until someone calls me tomorrow. Absolutely terrible patient care. My provider is great but this practice is awful. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Rea scarred me for life. She injected a permanent filler! without telling me it was PERMANENT filler. Who would get that? NOT ME. Stinky Stanko lied to my face and said it wasn't her problem. Rea Calamia also failed to give me the skin allergy test, 4 weeks before. Then she injected the filler in the wrong place. THE WRONG PLACE!!! Now i have lumps and bumps around my mouth that erupt then heal, over and over again. The only way to get rid of the bumps is surgically. No Doctor will even consider it. I will never go na k there again! The doctor gave me a cream for nasal cell cancer and never told me how to use it. She forgot to mention that I should use 1 packet over a 4 day period. I was using 1 packet per day. I ended up with blisters and sores all over the place. I then went back for the follow up. I have a card that says 4 pm and my calendar says 4 pm. The lady at the desk tells me well it says 3:45 , sorry, she can't see you. Again, poor quality of service and terrible front desk service. read more

I've had two appointments in a row now, cancelled one week before to see Dr. Stanko (I'm told the "provider's schedule has changed". I get it, things come up and we need to adjust schedules. I have been happy with her as a Dr. for many years. What I'm not happy with is that both times I'm told I can see someone else (I don't want to see someone else, I scheduled with Dr. Stanko for a reason) or wait for about 4-6 months until she has another opening on a day that works for me. They do nothing to help fit in the cancelled appointments and require you to start the whole process over again trying to get an appointment. I think the customer service needs to be re-evaluated here, and it seem this is a common problem so I'd like to see Dr. Stanko figure out a way to see her patients when she has to change her schedule. read more

Bryn Marw Dermo USED to be a good place and an organization that I would recommend. Not anymore. If you do business here, be sure to check your bill and your EOB. On 07/18/22, I had an appointment with Rae. It was my first time seeing her and I felt that she really cared about my routine treatment. Then the bill showed up. I am normally billed at a Level 3 and this time it was a Level 4. With my insurance (which I understand is not controlled by BRD), I now had to pay an additional $58. I called on 07/29 and spoke to Rachel about the bill. She said she would refer my message on. I didn't hear back and called again on 08/22, this time I spoke to Chris at their outsourced billing system. She had not heard from anyone from BRD. She said she would look into it. I called again on 08/29 for an update, and Chris said a Carol from BRD would be calling me back. I heard back from Carol on 09/06. 26 calendar days to took for me to get a response, after multiple phone calls. During that time, BRD did not call in my script so when I tried to get it refilled, it was not available at my pharmacy. I left a message again at BRD (because they don't answer the phone), and asked it to be called into my pharmacy. My message included their name and phone number. They called it into the wrong pharmacy. After another phone call, it goes to the correct place. But then I had to call the wrong place and ask them to release it in their system so that my insurance company doesn't bill me for it. I'd like to know why I have to pay more money AND go through all of this nonsense. Carol refused to make changes to the way I was billed and told me she took "offense" when I spoke to her. Not once did she justify why this visit should be have billed at a different level. According to the notes, I was spoken to about "several things" during my visit, which I dispute. This was a routine yearly visit. It should not have been billed at that level. I found Carol to be rude and not care about providing a reasonable experience. It was late in the evening so maybe she was tired but I really did not appreciate her hanging up on me when I said I was not paying the full bill. I will pay what I was previously billed in the past but after she hung up on me, I'm considering not paying them anything. I had been a patient here for years. I have referred at least 4 people but I am going to make sure now that they all know about my most recent experience. Bryn Mawr Dermo proved to me that they do NOT care about their patients. Good Points- The Villa Nova office is clean, easy to make appoints, front desk polite, and Dr. Santa is polite. Bad Points- Doctor point a hole in my nose and did not offer to fix it up and wanted to charge me for her mistake. Went to another doctor is they said a puncher graft was technique wrong why to gave a nose biopsy. Doctor belittle the hole she cause by a bad technique. if you need a cancer biopsy find a doctor who can do a shaved technique one that cause hardly any scarring. I called up to get a refill on a prescription and was told that I couldn't get one without seeing the physician assistant first. That doesn't help for a medication that I need now. After being fed up with my prior dermatologist, I decided to find another and came across this one since they had offices in the same location as my primary doctor and associated with Main Line Health. I was calling for my annual screening although I was concerned with a spot I recently noticed so I was hoping to get in sooner than later. I called to schedule an appointment for the Collegeville location but they didn't have any opening for several weeks, so the lady said she could get me into the Villanova office pretty quickly, especially since I had a concern. I didn't realize they even had a Villanova at the time of making my appointment but it worked well with my schedule so I booked the appointment. The Villanova office is pretty new and sits on the second floor of a shopping center. It took a bit to figure out how to get into the place (hint: entrance is near the Yoga studio). The receptionist was very friendly and I was taken back at my scheduled appointment time. I was only seeing a PA for this appointment and she came into the room within 15 minutes. She was very friendly and answered all my questions. I never felt rushed or anything. I was out of the office within 30 minutes of my scheduled appointment time. Overall, very happy and a much better experience than my past couple at my prior dermatologist and I've already booked my annual exam for next year. read more

I had my first appointment at Bryn Mawr dermatology today with Shannon. As soon as you walk in the office, you are put at ease with how clean and new the building is. As a new patient, I thought I would have to wait at least 15 minutes in the reception area as I have always done at past dermatologist offices but was pleasantly surprised when I was taken in right on time! After being brought back to my exam room, I didn't have to wait at all either! Shannon came in right away and did a thorough body check on me and tended to a few other concerns I was in for. Overall, I had a great experience here and would recommend. I did read a review saying that payment is pretty expensive compared to other dermatologists so I will be sure to update my review once I receive my bill! read more

Don't come here guys she will just take your money Dr. Stanko is horrible. As a 16-year-old kid who suffers from extreme eczema on my body and my face she pushed me to buy her branded creams that were priced over $80 and I cannot afford that she made me feel so poor on the spot when I can purchase them and all she did was look at my leg and my face and that's it I had to go somewhere else to get better treatment she only took five minutes to examine me and then recommended her creams. My family doctor recommended me her but I wish I never took that recommendation because this lady is just horrible and doesn't help you she just pushes you to buy her branded creams and her manners are very rude and and unprofessional. read more

I had an unpleasant skin growth on my back, scaly, bleeding, the works, which two nearby doctors (West Chester) looked at and were horrified, both referring me to specialists in Philadelphia. Naturally, I was anxious, and Philly seemed a chore so I went to Bryn Mawr Dermatology and saw the area's top expert Dr. Stanko, who reassured me, and calmly set forth a plan for a procedure and monitoring. All went well. This was five years ago, and I am happy to say the problem has been completely eradicated, no recurrence. I am very grateful to Dr. Stanko and Dr. Santa for their help initially and the follow ups. They also are patient and excellent listeners. I can be a handful at times. read more

I'm not sure where the negative review from Alyssa came from - the Villanova office is great. The receptionist is friendly and the interior is beautiful. I always emphasize the importance of pleasant surroundings when I visit the dermatologist, since it can be a stressful experience. I can't speak for the Collegeville location, but I'm sure it's also good. Lynn, my PAC, was extremely friendly and understanding. I also saw Dr. Santa, and she did an excellent job of administering cortisone injections to some troublesome spots I had that were causing me a lot of pain. Cortisone injections are a somewhat risky procedure since they have the potential to atrophy (leave a dent). All my spots disappeared within 24 hours, much to my relief. The staff is dedicated to helping you quickly resolve any issues with getting your prescriptions filled as well. I took off one star because the ONLY PAC I dislike in this office is Rae Calamia. Rae has utterly no bedside manner. When the office forgot to give me a slip for blood work I needed in a very specific time frame, she didn't apologize for their mistake - she just said 'Well, you can't start your medication today.' It was very off putting. She is condescending and I don't recommend her. read more

I will never go back. Was a patient here for years. Made an appointment for help with pieces of glass ripping through my skin around my mouth. Dr. Stanko said she had never seen this before. I suggested it might be a filler problem. She assured me it wasn't and that I couldn't have gotten it from them. After being made fun of in her office by her and her staff. I decided to get a second opinion. Unlike Dr. Stanko, he knew right away it was a reaction to a filler. There is a filler that contains tiny pieces of glass. Where do you think I got that? I had an awful experience here. I went in for my first ever mole screening at this office. I am covered in moles and have a family history of skin cancer so I take these types of visits very seriously. I was checked over and told 2 moles had to have a biopsy. I was not informed that by having a biopsy it would change the coding of the appointment for my insurance so now I am being billed $500!! If I had known this would change the coding of the appointment, I would have paused on the biopsy since this is not something I can afford at the moment. Not only that, but photos were taken of my breasts and I was informed I could not cover my nipples which makes no sense and made me feel uncomfortable. The moles that were removed were hastily bandaged and I was sent on my way. On the way out of the room, the dermatologist told me "by the way you have a touch of athletes foot, I wrote you a prescription you can fill here in our office". She didn't tell me which foot or what it looks like. I went up to fill the prescription and they wanted to charge me $70! When I said never mind, they told me they could charge me $35. I don't know how that worked out but it seems suspicious to me. I said "no" anyway. Then I notified that my biopsy spot was bleeding down on leg and into my boot. I had to ask one of the buses in the hallway for a new bandaid. After all of this, the spot that was biopsied got infected. I called several times and no one would answer. I was told to send photos and no one ever called back. I had to literally stalk them for a week just to get a response. Only to be told that "I was playing with it too much and it was probably just healing". I have had biopsies before and I know when something is infected. My whole leg was aching over the holiday season. I finally was able to get a prescription for antibiotic ointment. I will never return here again. read more

I have been with this office for medical and non-medical items. The staff is very friendly. The office is very clean. The medical concern has moderate improvement, but I haven't been impressed by it. Hence, this takes one star off. I have mixed feelings about their cosmetics services. It is definitely a cash grabber. I have had great results with the "Botox" injection administered by Shannon Del. On the surface , there's really not too much to complain about. BUT, here's why I am taking off another two stars - The office is charging the Botox price for the much cheaper Dysport. The office does not tell you that and doesn't mind that you leave the office thinking you actually paid for and had the Allergan product, the real "Botox". They also did not put me through any manufacturer's program. This leads me to question the ethics of the office or if they truly are acting in patients' best interest. This certainly causes a breach in trust. I have been debating if I will go back to the office. Transparency is important in the google era. I hope they can act in a much more transparent way with the rising consumerism. Perhaps I would pay another visit for the sake of benefit of the doubt and give them a chance to speak for themselves. Do NOT go here unless you do not mind ridiculous and unnecessary bills. I went for an annual skin check. During the visit I inquired about a new mole that appeared under my eye. The HCP said let me just pick around at it. She used two q-tips and squeezed it. It turned out it was a black head. I subsequently received $195 bill for "acne surgery". Apparently just inquiring about the mole granted permission for a $195 squeeze with a q-tip. Unbelievable scam of the insurance company and patients. You should be ashamed!!! read more

Don't go here. Be wary of a fancy dermatologist office that's too nice looking and offers free fancy beverages - bc you will be the one paying for it. This is an office for rich women who want Botox or other cosmetic procedures, they are not helpful with real issues. The staff is nice but the office manager is a money hungry jerk. You will be nickel and dimed and sent to collections regardless of the amount. I had an agreement with the Dr that I was not to be charged for a $15 procedure that was necessary to mitigate my alopecia but the insurance company felt was cosmetic and would not pay for. The billing/office manager decided to dig through my files (I sh*t you not) and pull up this procedure and bill me for one instance over 6 months since my last appointment. I was pissed but was about it to pay it when low and behold, a SECOND charge appeared on my bill a few weeks later with a NEW total of $32. NOW I was angry. COVID happened and they proceeded to annoy me with bills and calls threatening to send me to collections for the entire duration - for $30 that I shouldn't owe in the first place. I had dealt with the office manager before and knew they would NOT be helpful. I assumed a write-off would occur as that's typical practice for small balances. They remained true to their word and sent me to collections for $32 but tacked on the collections fee of $10. I paid them directly for the $32 at this point but they refused to accept (which they actually could have - I work in a finance dept and know how collections works). They officially decided to be jerks about it. That's right - you're horrible people. Please feel free to reply to this post to give further proof at how horrible you are, Bryn Mawr Dermatology. I have had the pleasure of visiting both the Villananova and Collegeville locations and they are the most beautiful state of the art doctors offices that I've ever seen. It didn't feel like I was waiting at a doctors office until I was greeted by friendly, knowledgeable medical staff. I have seen all provider's at BMD and have yet to be disappointed; they have met my medical concerns with the highest level of care. BMD also offers very effective cosmetic treatments, they have the very best facials and peels. I have heard nothing but fantastic things about the Botox and filler. Personally, I am most interested in Coolsculpting. read more

Dr. Santa is a decent doctor, but Dr. Stanko may be one of the worst doctors I've ever seen. Period. I went in for a skin condition and she looked at my hand for about 2 seconds and said, 'oh, it's eczema.' I never had anything of the sort and i was hoping for more information. She said that she would give me a cream and that's it. There has been no improvement in 9 months. During that same appointment, she recommended dysport because they were offering a special. I usually get Botox and Dr. Stanko said that there's no difference between the two, but there is a difference that I'm now aware of. I did get the dysport and once she was done, she said, 'you didn't get enough units of dysport to qualify for the special.' Then why offer it to me? I was paying $17/unit for Botox and once I realized how wildly overpriced that was, I went elsewhere and I now pay $9.50/unit. They also never mentioned the manufacturer's discount program. When I went back recently to have my eczema re-evaluated, as soon as I walked in, I caught a big whiff of disgusting food and coffee. The woman at the front desk was eating something that made me want to gag. I had to hold my hand over my face to speak to her. No one should ever eat at any front desk ANYWHERE. It's unprofessional and disgusting. The woman I spoke to was super rude to me. She had red short hair. She told me that I had missed appointment fees to pay. I rescheduled one appointment and the other was a legit miss. It was my first. She wanted me to pay $150+, which wasn't happening. I tried explaining what happened and she kept interrupting me and was rude and indignant. Between her disgusting plate of food and attitude, I just walked out and called UPenn - which is where everyone should go. I didn't feel like I should have to argue or be spoken over. I don't know why these folks treat people like they are better than everyone and have no time. I wish I went to UPenn on day one because I likely wouldn't still have the problems that I do. I called again to see if they would print or transfer my files and they wanted to charge me another $25 or $50. I asked to speak to the manager, who they wouldn't identify by name. The manager called me and I wasn't able to pick up and she couldn't leave a VM bc i turned it off. I tried reaching her again to no avail. I called again today to see if they would refill the steroid cream that they gave me for the eczema while i wait for my appointment at UPenn and they refused unless I made an appointment and came in. When I needed it refilled before all of this, I called and they gave it to me with no problem. I had it later that day. Now it just seems petty and spiteful + they want to bill my insurance for nonsense. I find these folks to be rude, uppity, unprofessional, and extremely overpriced. I'd be willing to deal with all of that if they were actually providing wonderful care - but they don't and they couldn't care less. UPenn's care is unrivaled and they treat people with dignity and kindness. Stay away from this place. They will rip you off. Update*** I went to UPenn Derm and the doctors instantly realized that Dr. Stanko committed malpractice and misdiagnosed my skin problem. UPenn gave me the correct medicine and my hand healed in 10 days. UPenn told me not to worry about transferring my files over because they don't believe in the integrity of their work anyway. read more

disappointed in office that came highly recommended - company policy to have CC on file for when insurance returns charges submitted to them with a final determination of benefits, they just use the card. No call to patient, no explanation. No change to discuss with insurance, even if this balance go toward deductible- they charge the CC each time. I have a company that says my deductible - some people have money deducted out of their check weekly for thee matters - I think it would be much better if they called to go over final balance - I understand it a business- but no other medical office i have dealt with has this policy. Rachel, the office manager had nothing to say but to repeat her little written script, uncaring about any person circumstance to that my pop pop had no CC to leave on file, so we are out of luck with this place- off we go to found another - just wanted everyone to know Rachel and the practice only care about the money. This is about the Bryn Mawr Dermatology on Lancaster ave. I lost my keys and called to let them know that I would be running late. I showed up had 13 minutes late, and they refused to see me and charged me $50. They said after 10 minutes late, they don't see the patient. And I understand they have rules, but what I'm mad about is the fact that they didn't even have the courtesy to let me know about this policy when I called earlier. So not only did I waste my time showing up, but then I got charged for then not to see me. Not to mention, I had an appointment because what they had prescribed me wasn't working... again. I will never return here again, and I hope whoever is reading this never does either. If I could, I would give them 0 stars. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I made an appointment with the practice to get a continuation of my face medication as a current patient. They told me I needed my annual full body scan, so I booked the apt. After the apt, during which the physician's assistant asked if I had any problems with my current health, I left assuming that covered my medical appointment. A week later the office staff informed me that I had to come in for a separate apt since they wouldn't prescribe my medication anymore since it hadn't been discussed as a problem during the visit - the visit I had scheduled precisely to get a continuation of my medication. I would have to schedule another appointment, and pay another copay to get my medication. This is absolute madness, and feels like a fraudulent attempt to fleece my insurance company for multiple payments for the same service! Especially since any questions could have been answered to their satisfaction in a follow up call. I cannot understand how a business can run with such awful customer service! I am so disappointed, and will no longer patronize this establishment. read more

Please steer clear of this practice. If something goes wrong after an appointment, you have a question, or need help, you won't get a call back from a Dr. or nurse. A recent treatment resulted in problems and no one would call me back to explain how best to treat it. I've been going here for years and had several issues. The nail in the coffin was when they recently charged me $2,310.00 instead of $250. When I called to remedy this I got the run around. I was treated as if this was not be a mistake. I did not ask for or approved a package of treatments, nor did I intend to have more treatments. No one "had the authority" to refund me! It is so stressful and I've not been refunded. I may need to have my lawyer involved and dispute the charge through my bank to get a refund! A worried patient/customer should be top priority to a doctor. Also, Dr. Stanko has the worst bedside manner of any doctor I have seen in a long time. She uses the approach of highlighting your flaws to basically say she has a handicap when working with you (and will actually bring the assistant over to agree). I am pretty thick skinned when it comes to insults but this is humiliating. I would never recommend her to a friend or family member. I will not be going anywhere near this practice. read more

I have been a patient at Bryn Mawr Derm for approximately two and a half years and I use the Collegeville office. In that time the office and medical staff have always been patient, friendly, accommodating and last but not least, spot on with my needed treatments. I have a rather severe case of psoriasis and other derm issues on my face. I had an initial appointment with Dr. Stanko but now am most often seen by Rae in the Collegeville office. The professionals at Bryn Mawr Derm have consistently provided me with excellent care. When I have a derm flare up, they make sure to get me an appt right away. No one wants to wait a week when they are experiencing pain on their face or elsewhere and Bryn Mawr takes that into consideration to accommodate me when I unexpectedly need them most. Rae always spends time with me to review not only any derm issues but also to review my overall health. She has provided options, and explained them in depth, for the treatment of my psoriasis (which is not a quick fix item). We talked out the pros and cons of each course of possible treatment and I am happy to report that we found the correct treatment for me. Medicine is not a magic fix, but with well informed medical professionals who take the time to know you and your concerns, you are most likely to find a solution if one exists.
