Clean rooms at a great price, and honestly that's the most important thing to me at a hotel. We stayed while traveling through and were able to get a last minute room at a good price. Our room was clean and had nice amenities, I always appreciate a mini fridge! This is right off the interstate and it was in a quiet, safe location. The service was less than stellar, we got double charged checking in and there was no one at the desk when we left so we couldn't follow up about that to make sure it was resolved. The breakfast was also a let down, there were very limited options, pretty much carbs only. We didn't stay here for the breakfast but I was hoping to feed the kids before we left and even they weren't impressed with the waffles so we ended up at a drive thru after. read more

This is a great hotel option for a quick stop when heading south. The rooms are very clean and surprisingly quiet despite being close to the highway. The breakfast area had charming table settings. The breakfast foods were well stocked, but heavily focused on processed white breads and waffles. A whole grain bread, hard boiled eggs, peanut butter, bananas, and/or nuts would be great additions for the hotel to consider adding. Updated review after staying there again at the end of June 2024: 2 out of our 3 rooms were clean, but one of the people in our party was in a room that smelled like it had previously been a smoking room for years. When we came back from dinner around 8:30 p.m., there was an overpowering foul smell all around the hotel. We've stayed at this hotel on our way to the beach in NC for 4 years now, and this is the first time we've noticed it. It was eye-wateringly bad and made a few of us gag. The smell made its way into our rooms as well. Not sure if it was from the water treatment plant 5 miles away, some sort of poultry plant, or Walter White cooking up something nearby, but it was truly awful. The next morning, the smell was gone. I talked to someone who had stayed there for a few nights and he said the smell showed up every night and dissipated by morning. As a another reviewer mentioned, our hotel alarm clock was set for 6am and jolted me awake. We'll probably find a different place to stay next year. read more

First of all, do NOT stay here. The lady before me reserved a room on hotels.com only to have her room cancelled and was forced to find a room after midnight in the middle of no where with kids in the car. But let's talk about the room..first thing I noticed is what looked like a brown recluse sitting on top of the towels in the bathroom. The bathroom ceiling had been repaired very poorly and looked like it was about to fall in, the tub was cracked and looked like super glue was holding it together, the shower rod was sagging so bad because it was broken at the ends and dipped down in the middle by either catching someone's fall or some romantic shower interlude. The curtain wouldn't even stay closed so the bathroom got soaked with just a quick shower. The carpet was BLACK in the traffic areas and was so nasty my bare feet wouldn't touch it and had a nasty old smell that filled the room with an odor. The BED...OH BOY!!! The mattress cover and box springs was DISGUSTING with stains that looked like blood popped bedbugs, romantic spills and urine. There were bugs under the box spring cover and trash was under the mattress and it hasn't ever been cleaned. I usually check the beds where I stay but coming in late and seeing that this place had such a high rating, I had no immediate reason to be cautious. There's NOTHING good about this place unless you're a greasy broke dope head with no money. The staff and management put down hotels.com to customers and was useless for help. I couldn't stomach being there another minute after seeing what I was sleeping on and checked out in the middle of the night and was refused a refund. I ended up driving through the night to get home after working most of the day. I couldn't stay after seeing all the stains and bugs. The "free" breakfast was some mixture of stuff that come from what looked like a broom closet. I guess if you don't mind cereal and milk it's fine, but if you think the 'hot' food is going to be good, think again. Had me guessing just how clean it was. I ended up going to eat at a cafe. The staff, here's a good one, there's such a language barrier that understanding what they're even saying is a struggle. Not to mention they have in Bluetooth ear pieces and are on the phone with someone in a foreign language in the middle of trying to talk to you which makes it that much worse to even know what's going on. Bug bites, filthy room, unsavory conditions, terrible staff who struggle to communicate with you, just find yourself another motel please. There's absolutely NO reason they're rated this high. They've generated these reviews some how or paid someone to write them. On top of that, all of the locals said the original owners sold the motel and NONE of the local people recommend it. They said it's nothing more than a truck stop hangout. Maybe a 0.5 at best. Don't stay and bring bugs back to your house. This place reminds me of a pay by the hour hooker hangout. There's not enough space here to talk about how disgusting this place makes you feel. I attempted to get a refund for my stay quietly and the staff told me to contact hotels.com, hotels.com said it was up to the hotel and the hotel said there was nothing wrong with my room. Despite PLENTY of reviews stating bugs they wouldn't take my word. If I can prevent just one person from staying here, I've done my job to keep you clean. If I could give it zero stars I absolutely would. read more

We're here visiting Mayberry and did just a one nighter. We booked through Booking.Com and payed only $75 after all taxes. Checkin was a breeze and very friendly. Rooms on first floor are very clean and supplied with soaps and a cup coffeemaker, fridge, but no microwave. The breakfast does not have a lot of choices but do have waffles and biscuits and gravy along with the usual cold dishes of cereals, danish and such. It's a small sitting area but the lady serving your food was extremely nice. You take your seat and she gets what you want. Hotel is worth the price. Added note, we're we're on the back end of hotel and never heard any of the trucks that are next store at the truck stop. read more

This hotel advertises to be following COVID-19 preventative measures, but it doesn't really. None of the staff are masked. They also have their preventative measures backwards. For example, at the breakfast bar, you are not allowed to serve yourself the hot items, but they allow unmasked people to eat in the breakfast area which is very small (holds about 3 to 4 tables) which is also the same area where the food is served. It's as if they have not received the message that COVID-19 is primarily transmitted by air and not through surfaces. Why bother with restricting self serve breakfast when everyone, including the staff, are unmasked? That said, they also did not have hand sanitizers in any of the common spaces. Beyond this issue, the hotel seems ok. The room we stayed in was clean and tidy. But, if you're looking for COVID-19 safety measures being adhered to, this is not the hotel. That said, I doubt that the general population and institutions in this area are following COVID-19 safety measures. Almost no one in grocery stores are masked. The 1 restaurant we visited, the staff (all Asian) are masked and they even had signs asking everyone who enters to wear a mask. Unfortunately, not everyone adheres to that. read more

The room was clean, and even though it is close to a gas station-truck stop, we did not hear any noise. The breakfast was good and the workers were very pleasant. Although this spot is next to a truck stop, this MOTEL was super clean and the rooms were big, quiet and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Try this hotel off the beaten path and I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

It would have been nice to write a positive review for my night on May 6, 2013, but the woman at the front desk was too rude. I checked online before I walked in the door and saw a price of $66. The woman quoted me a price of $89, unless I was a member of AARP/AAA. When I told her I saw a price of $66 online, she told me that their was a discounted rate of $65 and some change. "There is no $66 rate". When I asked if I could get the lower rate she repeated the same lines over and over again in a very condescending manner. Stayed here during a road trip and it was awesome. The woman on duty when we got there late, Christy, was so nice and friendly. She gave us everything we needed for the night. When we came back to the lobby for some tea and hot chocolate she offered us decaf and fresh hot water. The room itself was very clean and neat. Everything was very nice. They had everything we needed for a quick stop. Breakfast was a good selection, especially for such a small hotel. There was cereal, fruit, fresh waffles, and pastries. This hotel is located on the Brintle's truck stop property, which is a really good thing. The hotel itself is pretty decent. The rooms are good for the price you pay, the front desk staff are pleasant and professional and the house keeping staff are really nice. The pool is nice, and doesn't smell funny or of chlorine which tells me they keep with it's maintenance and keeping the pH balanced. The downside to this hotel is that there really isn't much around for dining options, aside from the 24-hour truck stop restaurant. On the other hand, show your room key and you get a 10% discount at the restaurant. Keep this in mind when the continental breakfast room is crowded or it's before 6 or after 11. But really, why settle for a waffle and a bagel when you could walk down the hill to the truck stop restaurant and have bacon and eggs? If you don't want to eat at the truck stop restaurant (it's not bad!) there's a Subway up the road. The hotel is 100% non-smoking, and not pet friendly! They mention a $250 fee for smoking in your room and $100 fee for having a pet in your room. Also don't forget to ask for the WiFi password. The 24-hour truck stop next door is great for stocking up on drinks or munchies (or forgotten personal hygiene items...oops) read more

Very clean and comfortable place to spend the night. Rooms are very clean and maintained. Room has a small coffee maker with coffee and creamers and sugar. Hair dryer is a nice touch. Front desk very friendly and helpful. There is two restaurants very close. One is in a truck stop and will offer you a discount for showing room key. There is a Circle K and BP station. Very nice outdoor pool in season. Easy access from I-77 or I-74. Rates are normal for this area. We enjoyed our stay and will return if in the area. Recommend 100%. read more

Extremely clean and well kept hotel! Very comfortable beds that have plenty of fluffy pillows, spacious rooms, and soft towels. Free Wi-Fi, coffee pot, and iron with ironing board in room. Free breakfast in the morning. Very nice heated pool to keep the kids entertained. Best of all , helpful, friendly desk clerk. I called ahead to book our room while I was traveling as it seems to be a popular hotel, that I would imagine would fill up quickly. Best value for your money! We pulled into the hotel around 1am. The night staff was nice, the rooms were clean. However, in the morning we were moving slow. Just as we were finishing up the morning front desk staff, Vanessa, called our room at 11 and said, "You have 5 minutes to get out of the room or I'm charging you an extra day." Never have we been spoken to so rudely from hotel staff. We travel often and typically stay at Best Westerns because they are clean and friendly. I understand the Day crew is only around for a certain amount of time but usually we are allowed a late checkout until noon. This is part of the reason we like Best Westerns. The rooms are so clean and tidy. The staff is so nice. *This particular location was such a pleasant stop for us. We weren't sure how it would be, being a truck stop and all, but it was our favorite stop! The little restaurant was homey and warm and.... well, I can't really say enough about how nice everyone is. You get a 10% discount on the restaurant if you are booked for the night at BW... that was very nice with our family of 9. I'm just a happy Mom. Truly. This is one of those "outside door" hotels that always come off a little lower class to me. But at about $100 a night, we certainly didn't feel like we were paying for a budget motel. Unfortunately, this is one of the few hotels right off 77 in the middle of nowhere at the foothills...so perhaps they have a monopoly. We arrived very late after a full day of driving. The front desk had an attitude with us from the beginning, especially the younger lady, who seemingly had the ambivalent "you are here for my annoyance" point of view. She claimed matter of factly that there were two reservations for me, and there was nothing they could do, and inferred it was my doing or at the very least "expedia." All my documentation said one reservation, but she seemed to care less and not believe me at all. They said I had to call hotels.com--no offer to try to mediate. I did, and they confirmed what I was saying. But then, hotels.com had to separately call the front desk and suddenly they were able to fix the issue. It seemed like an awful lot of red tape for something that no one could prove was my fault. Come to find out, per the inference of the young lady with the attitude, it seems the front desk was trying to put the two rooms on us so that they wouldn't lose a commission? Apparently, they would rather loose a customer. This was all doubly frustrating because I initially tried to book through Best Western online and received strange error messages several times. The icing on the cake was when they called us after we had already gone to bed to move our rental truck. We initially informed them we had a rental truck upon check in. They could have told us at that time there were only certain places to park it and check with us. The place did not seem that busy. At any rate, my husband had to be disturbed, turn the light on, get dressed and go move the vehicle. We had had such a long day of driving and were to have a grueling day the following day so this interruption late at night was very inconvenient. The last thing that ticked me off was the tip jar at breakfast as if we were expected to tip. We were trying to figure out how someone doing their base level job deserved a tip. It isn't like it was a full service sit down meal. I mean it was ok, but it was just the slightly above minimum serve yourself continental breakfast with one hot item. If we weren't exhausted and pressed for time we would have gone somewhere else for breakfast but it was an act of convenience. Overall, the room was ok, but the complete lack of customer service from the staff made anything else not matter. read more

It was as advertised and the woman on the desk was extraordinarily nice. Room was clean. Television was big and worked perfectly. No inoperative remote here. I've stayed in a few different hotels this year including ones that have been "remodeled" and have to say that this is by far the cleanest and friendliest one I have stayed in! It was just for an emergency trip down here but for a motel it was immaculate. Though I enjoy a bit more for breakfast, they still offered a variety but nothing can beat how well it has been fixed up and cleaned and how friendly everyone was, front desk and cleaning staff. My family and I stayed here while visiting a friend for the weekend. We were a little disappointed that we would have to stay at a Best Western as they don't have a great reputation at home. Boy were we wrong! Probably the best stay I have had at a hotel, including big cities and resorts. For the price, everyone was friendly, the room was more than adequate with very cold a/c, flat screen tv, shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower. Since we had a 2 queen bed room, we didn't have a microwave but the staff was very friendly, allowing us to warm up my daughter's milk at night. The breakfast was very good. The only downfall is that again the room didn't have a microwave and refrigerator but why waste money on things people may not use. If guest want to request a room with such, don't charge them extra and put them in one. I would certainly recommend this hotel to everyone. Don't let the lower price fool you, the quality is higher than those with better brand recognition! read more

I stayed here for one night with my boyfriend during a quick work trip, and I was not thrilled with it to say the least. Everything appeared clean, which is extremely crucial, but not enough to make me want to stay there again. This is an older motel-style hotel where the lobby is separate and all of the room doors are on the outside. We got absolutely no cell service in our room and after struggling with the wifi for awhile trying to follow the directions in the room, realized we needed a password from the lobby that we hadn't been given. Once we got the password, we still only had maybe one bar of service. The room felt sticky and muggy even with the a/c cranking, leaving us uncomfortable all night. The "hot" breakfast was a make-your-own waffle bar and some standard cold cereals, pastries, and fruit. I will say, the coffee was better than I expect in hotels. All In all - if we'd paid less money for this and known what to expect, I wouldn't have minded it. This hotel was not worth the $80 stay.... Perhaps a $50-60 one. read more
