My fiancé and I stayed for 1 night while visiting the Andy Griffith Museum. Very friendly staff! Clean rooms and ample parking. We both loved the breakfast. Churro waffles, vanilla waffles, oatmeal, sausage, omelets etc. we were trying to get the room cooled off the staff handled it right away! I spent the night in Mayberry!!!!! This Hampton Inn is very nice and clean. Since they offer digital keys there was no need to check in and deal with staff. In our room was some decor reminding you of the Mayberry connection. You are minutes from historic downtown and stops like...Wally's Fillin' Station, Floyd's City Barber Shop and The Andy Griffith Museum. This would be a great place to stay if visiting Mayberry Days. The only reason for 4 stars is the hotel is not marked real well. We had a hard time finding our room in a timely manner. Definitely would stay here again read more

Staff were very kind and helpful. Rooms were clean and the hotel, despite being pretty full, was quiet. Standard Hampton Inn breakfast which is never anything to write home about but not to worry... there is a Biscutville right across the parking lot. My only negative comment is that the rooms were dark. There was no overhead or floor lamps. The only lights weee the two small lights by the bed and the small desk light. Very strange setup. Add a light and figure out how to do some lightly better eggs I think they could be working there way to another star. read more

Subpar Hampton: The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, neat, and nicely appointed. Hallway carpets are worn, stained, and disgusting. Weak gym: The fitness center is a step above useless. The elliptical is on the verge of collapse and sounds like someone put rocks in a tumble dryer. The Peloton bike won't connect to the internet, rendering this expensive workout bike virtually useless. The recumbent bike works but has a broken pedal strap and does not display workout time or speed. The standing weight machine has only 1 set of grips, no alternative bars, handles, or straps, and the gym has no dumbbells. The treadmill works. read more

This hotel was not as nice as the Hampton Inn's I usually stay at. The staff was a little short with some other guests. It wasn't me, so I have no idea what the issue was but the tone was not professional. The hallway carpets, especially by the elevator on the 2nd floor are disgusting, but the room itself was clean and quiet. For me, the worst part was their internet. It was NOT good. Even with the "upgrade" service the internet dropped emails and stalled out while I was trying to watch a movie. The internet was so bad in the morning I could barely post this review. I can deal with the "less thans" but bad internet is a deal breaker for me. ADDENDUM: In the morning, I went down to the lobby to get coffee and do email prior to checking out. The internet in this area is lightening fast. Too bad it wasn't half that fast in my room. Also, for those who eat breakfast, they have a lovely spread; coffee, tea with "add ins", bagels, English muffins, cold cereal, French toast, pancakes, yogurt, apples etc. For these reasons, I am updating from my original 3 stars to 4 stars, but I still want better internet for the price point. read more

A one night stay here while traveling with my bride. Not going to be my favorite place to stay, but it's certainly not the worst place I've stayed. The room was clean. Breakfast was okay. The bed seemed hard as a rock and left a lot to be desired. The heat was off when we got to the room so it was something like 60 degrees in there when we arrived, BRRRR! The building itself is kind of confusing and when we checked in, we did not get appropriate direction to find our room - ended up looking for the elevator down the wrong corridor. I will likely look for other options the next time I need to stay in this area. read more

We ended up here at the recommendation of a family member. I was planning to go to a Hampton Inn, we always have had good experiences with them. This one was along our path of travel, and it was time for a break in the driving. Generally this was a good experience, although the room was much smaller than I am used to. On a side note, this is the hometown of Andy Griffith and there are a couple of hike-bike trails. Seems like there are some nice places to visit (our stay was short due our travel schedule) but there were few sidewalks other than the downtown area. The trail was nice but it getting on the trail other than at the trailheads is difficult. Not a very "walking friendly" area unless you drive to the places you want to walk. read more

Loved this hotel. It's hard not to whistle the Andy Griffith theme song while your here. The rooms were classic Hampton Inn with a few extras. The rooms were spotless and extremely nice and the hotel was close to restaurants and the downtown area. The Hampton Inn also owns Andy Griifth's childhood home about a mile away and you can actually rent it for a night or two. I meant to ask for the price because I was curious but I forgot. It's a Hampton, so I pretty much know what to expect. The lobby was bright and airy, the swimming pool looked nice and there was even some seating outside. Our room, with a king size bed was clean and comfortable. Would I like the TV at the end of the bed, and not the side? Yes, but I can live with it. The breakfast had a nice selection and there was plenty of seating. Here's my only gripe. I am a fun person and like jokes, but after traveling for many hours to get here, the check in person thought it would be funny to tell us we had no reservation. As I am trying to juggle my purse, my bag and my phone to get our confirmation number, she tells us it's a joke. Sorry, not funny after traveling all day. read more

Very friendly front desk staff. Ms. Blue was accommodating on my most recent visit. Such a pleasure to see a smiling face, so early in the morning. I generally stay at this location while working. It is currently being remodeled but I can say, the process hasn't hindered my sleeping at all. I'm a night shifter, so I'm generally asleep during the day. The rooms are updated and clean. Parking is adequate and there are several entrances using your key card. Im not a breakfast eater but I've noticed that they also serve a free full breakfast every morning. This location is within walking distance to several restaurants. There is a Walmart close by as well. Definitely my go to when I'm in town. Update: The staff here are all amazing! We drive from Pittsburgh to Myrtle Beach and Mount Airy is our middle of the drive stopping place. We like to get to the beach early Friday morning, so we drive Thursday evening into Mount Airy. We previously stayed at the comfort inn, which I felt was out of the way by way of Fancy Gap Highway. This time I chose an easier on and off point with Hampton Inn. We stayed here on our way to Myrtle Beach and were very pleased. We took full advantage of the pool and that breakfast! Smoothies at a complimentary hotel breakfast?! I think I'm spoiled now. It's time for a refresh at this Hampton. The carpets are just filthy, with very visible warn trails and stains all over the hallway carpet. The room carpet was only marginally cleaner and still pretty grungy. I kept my flip-flops on at all times. Room smelled very musty/moldy unless the AC was running at FULL blast to circulate air. Maybe a good carpet shampoo would help? Bed linens were terrible - fitted sheet would not stay on the mattress, so I ended up sleeping on top of the nylon mattress pad and a wadded up sheet, even though I got up and pulled the sheet to refit over the mattress several times during the night. This Hampton Inn was just ok. Stayed here for the weekend for my sister's wedding. Upon entering the hotel I noticed a strong chlorine smell. Check in was a bit of a cluster as the front desk clerk was having trouble with my card that had a chip. The rooms were nice and clean but dated and the bathroom was definitely dated. My allergies seemed to bother me a lot in the room as well so I am thinking the carpets were dusty. The breakfast was pretty good. They had some yummy omelets. read more

Bro was in for Christmas and stayed here as usual. They just expanded and added another hundred rooms or so. Very nice rooms. Big nice rooms. Nice pictures of local landmarks added a nice touch. A new indoor pool looked good but you could smell the chlorine in the parking lot. Short and sweet, it's a Hampton Inn. You either like them or are brain dead! They are always the better of roadside hotels. Sure there have been some that slip through the cracks into "never stay here again" land, but not this one! I stayed in this hotel on a weekend when it was completely sold out. The hotel has been added onto and the older part has obvious updates that are quite nice. My room was larger than I had expected and clean. The beds where comfortable, my room had a flat screen tv, coffee maker, and small fridge. The bathroom did show its age (rust and such was in the shower); along with dated curtains and some of the decor. Also, I found it odd the the cleaning staff left post-it's on the headboards to say that they had cleaned the room. I would hope that my room was cleaned since I did just pay for a hotel room! Overall, this hotel was nothing spectacular but for the area and price it is a great deal! read more

We stay at the Hampton Inn in Mount Airy when traveling to and from Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina. Mount Airy is about halfway and the trip is just too far to drive in one day. We have stayed at various Hampton Inns, and the Hampton Inn at Mount Airy is typical for any of them. The rooms and all common areas are always very clean, modern, attractive, and well maintained. Hampton Inn beds are very comfortable. Parking is ample and safe. Service has always been good. We always appreciate the consistently excellent quality breakfasts. We have stayed in a variety of accommodations around the country when traveling, but have come to appreciate the consistency, reliability, and quality of the accommodations and services offered by Hampton Inns. We know what to expect when staying at the Hampton, and that is very important when traveling. We will continue to stay at the Hampton Inn in Mount Airy when traveling to and from North Carolina. Booked this place because it was top ranked for Mt Airy hotels-- I can't vouch for the other 7, but this one was definitely not worthy of top ranking. I've stayed at hundreds of hotels, and probably close to 50 Hampton Inn's, and this one was not up to par for a Hilton property. We stayed on NYE 2016, and right after booking online, early afternoon on 12-31, I called the front desk to ask if they had a shuttle bus to town, (less than 2 miles from hotel) where a local establishment was having a NYE party we were considering attending. A local business owner actually told us that the hotel offered a shuttle, which was part of why we booked there. So I called, and they said oh no, we can't do that without advance notice....really? 2 pm isn't advance notice? I thought that was ridiculous. Then, when we realized we'd forgot our toothpaste, and I went to the front desk to get a complimentary small tube, which every hotel I've stayed in offers as a convenience, they were out. Come on, for $109 I'd expect a little service. This place has zero class. read more

Absolutely wonderful experience, great place! We had five people so we got the queen studio suite. Never had as big or lovely a room for a good price. Beds were comfortable, great bathroom area counter space, huge family space, super comfortable couch / pullout bed. Can't say enough about the quality of the room. Nice breakfast, too.
