My mom had a heart procedure on March 20th. When I came back to recovery she had a bloody swollen lip and the nurse said it was because her lips were dry and her lips stuck to her teeth and when she opened her mouth they stuck to her teeth, ha. No way that is what happened. It bleed the whole time and we had to ask for medicine to get it to stop. Partly it kept bleed because of the blood thinner she was previously taking. I understand that. What I am upset about is they didn't tell the truth and would not own what happened. They either dropped something on her or (I know she had 2 tubes down her throat) they taped one tube down and over to the side and when they removed the tape carelessly it ripped her lip open and gave her a fat bloody lip. Yes it is minor in the big scheme of things but lying about is not good, shame on them! This picture is from 2 days after her surgery. The swelling has gone down mostly. Also the preregistration the previous week was poor. The instructions were contradictory with the Dr who was doing the procedure with the anesthesiologist . No one explained that the instructions were from the anesthesiologist which would have been very helpful for my mom to understand. Note: my mom is 84 years old. We were calling the surgeon because it was controversial from what her surgeon told her. Getting ahold of the surgeon is always difficult as he is in surgery.

Selfie in the ER one time. Short wait. Thorough.

I've had different experiences at BSA. For example, I've had bad treatment in the ER, but also good. It depends what they got going on, the people on duty & if they're tired. Pretty much everyone says that at every hospital. For Imaging appointments, I've always had a quick & courteous visit. Once my mom was there for a week with heart problems. "Jo" is a regular staff member at the entry that controls patient visits. She's such a sweetheart so nice & kind knowing how important my time with my mother was. I brought her lunch one day bc she was so kind letting me stay at night for a few extra minutes past the curfew. It's that kind of stuff that warms your heart. We should be on our knees thanking God things at BSA & NWT aren't like Los Angeles right now. REAL TALK.

Great hospital. I've always chosen this one over Northwest and always gotten the best care with the friendliest staff.

This place seems to be a bit of an enigma. When I first looked it up several months ago I found a…read moreweb page for a menu but it hadn't been updated in a year or two. Just now I looked again and there's no sign of them even having a dining area much less, what the daily menu might be. Compare that to BSA where at any time you can look up their menu to see what they are serving. I went here a couple weeks ago about 5:30 p.m. which I thought would be a safe time, right in the middle of a normal dinner time. But they had very few offerings. There was a fairly extensive salad bar so that's what I got. Everything else except for maybe pizza seemed to be closed for the day. I think someone told me those foods are only available until 2:30. But as I was leaving I saw people lined up to order hamburgers from the grill so that information given to me must have been incorrect. I could have gotten a hamburger or something instead of, or to go along with, my salad. The salad itself was perfectly good. Certainly not gourmet, nor did I expect that. I have noticed that all hospital cafeterias seem to serve food that I do not personally consider overly healthy, laden with chemicals, preservatives, fillers and excessive salt and sugar. I would expect better from a hospital than from a restaurant. At BSA they definitely have a 10% senior discount. At Northwest there didn't seem to be any such thing and I think I did remember to ask about it but the employee was far from friendly and pretty much ignored my question. I was charged by the pound for the salad and it came to $8. I just noticed at the top of the receipt it says the Blue Point Cafe so I will try googling that to see if any more information comes up. The foods on the menu that sounded good would only be available at lunch time I guess. I didn't get a picture of the salad bar but I did get a picture of my actual salad. It was a warm enough day that it did hit the spot. I love desserts but none of theirs looked appealing enough to buy. A different person might find something they liked though. If you happen to be visiting someone in the hospital then I'm sure this place would do the job. I do think that the employees need to be a little more welcoming. I realize it's not a restaurant but basic human decency says people should be pleasant and friendly and helpful to each other. The people at BSA have always been so to me. I can't help but compare the two since they are both hospital cafeteria type places.
