5 Piece Chicken Tenders with Mac and Cheese
    Daniel C.

As an American (from the south) visiting London I have to say the chicken here has consistently blown my mind every single time. It's very hard to make good chicken tenders that aren't dry, and the ones made here are perfectly juicy, and well seasoned too. This is coming from someone who's raised in a region where good fried chicken is like a religion! Give these guys a try they deserve every penny you give. (Also try their Banana Pudding, it slaps).

    Nice sign!

The TLDR here is what BTRMLK dropped in vowels, they more than made up for in flavour! While on a short trip to London with a few colleagues, one suggested BTRMLK and needless to say, I was in the moment 'fried chicken' was mentioned. My secret love for fried chicken does not give any restaurant the license to serve any old fried chicken, Its got to be good..... REALLY good. I was sold on its '8/10' ranking and was told that this place is better than the Stockyards in Toronto. BTRMLK is in the student area of town and there was free parking in the lot. Its located in the corner of the plaza and has no seating or a place to stand and eat. I thought this was odd but quickly realized that this place churns out about 1 order every 3 minutes! There were people in and out of the place non stop. The staff, although busy, was really patient and pleasant. I got the Honey Popper fried chicken sandwich (Jalapenos, Honey, Cream cheese, and their house sauce), and my colleague got the Original Nashville hot (honey mustard, pickles, coleslaw and house sauce along with a Nashville hot fried chicken). I wanted in on ALL the action so we asked the staff to cut the sandwiches and they obliged (while in the middle of about 20 orders). My first bite: Oh hell to the yeah, delicious bun, crunchy exterior, tender chicken and cream cheese cut but the pickled jalapenos - so so so good! I demolished my half. Next was the Nashville hot - it was spicy but SO flavourful! The slaw works itself perfectly into the heat and it all comes together into what I can only say it the perfect sandwich. My final verdict? I will be thinking about this place and I will need to return. 5 stars here for Food and Service! Special shout out to Lily for the introduction.

Decided to update my review from 2 years ago with some pics. This is still the best chicken in London by a long shot. Now with a second location more people can taste the greatness. The fries are incredible too. Hand cut and just so thick and tasty. Service is always friendly which must be tough because they are always soooo busy. Love btrmlk!

Food was ok but value was not there. It was a takeaway restaurant and a sandwich + side and pop was $25 after tax and tip (they have a min 15% tip recommendation). Got the honey popper. Chicken was juicy but not a lot of depth of flavours. Parking in the lot is also tough as there's limited parking for the number of restaurants.

Absolutely fantastic chicken sandwich, mac and cheese, and fries. Everything about this spot is excellent, and its a place I would recommend to anyone without any hesitation. Let's start with the sandwich. The chicken in there is massive, well-seasoned, and perfectly hits the spot. Top it with fresh veggies, sauce, and excellent bread and you have yourself a winner. The sandwich alone is hefty enough for you to finish and be satisfied, but there was no chance I would visit and not try some of the sides. The mac and cheese may be some of the best I've ever had, and it's really all because of the cheese sauce. It's silky smooth and insanely tasty. If you really like your mac and cheese, do yourself a favour and top it with some of their fried chicken and you'll have an excellent meal. Finally, the fries aren't the star of the show, but they're good too. They have a few options for fries, so just pick whichever you think sounds the best for you, and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Cheers. Check out @foodpharaoh on Instagram for more food!

Great fried chicken sandwiches. Love the original sandwich, the coleslaw inside makes the sandwich so yummy.

Absolutely the best chicken sandwich and Mac n cheese in the city!! You get what you pay for. Fresh every time! Cooked to perfection every time!!! HUGE portions!!! Don't change anything.... Except maybe your hours.

    Honey popper

Food was amazing! The best chicken sandwich and the BEST banana pudding I've ever had! Chicken was juicy and tender while the outside was crispy and delicious. Just perfection

The food was great! Crisp but not overdone chicken. Fresh buns. We shared a mac and cheese side dish and personally I found that was something you could probably skip; there's better out there. But the chicken burgers were top notch. My partner got The Original, and I got The Honey Popper. The former was fantastic, and 100% what I will get next time. The latter was a bit rich for my taste; the cream cheese was a lot. Other than lacklustre mac and cheese, the only disappointment was a sign others think the food is great too; the line. We went a Saturday at open and waited almost two hours to get into the restaurant. The actual service inside was both friendly and speedy (maybe fifteen minutes). Just don't come hungry, and pray the people in line with you are fun to talk with... and wearing a mask. Also, these guys close once they're out of ingredients! So though they list themselves as open until seven most nights, I've never seen them stay open that late! Will absolutely come back again, though might wait until the crowds have died down!

Ordered the original chicken takeout. It's was good size sandwich. Filling, I wish there was more sauce in the burger, was kinda dry!

I ordered a Waldorf Chicken sandwich and needed some help to pick it. The owner was really helpful to walk me through what to expect in the order and I narrowed it down. I was really happy with the sandwich. It was crunchy, warm, and savoury. The store was well stocked and of course empty given the health precautions in place. I hope to be back sometime in the future.

A friend of mine had also discovered this and decided to go in for coffee, so after that I ventured in for lunch. It was the best decision I made that day. The ambiance of this place was filled with the feeling you were in a busier city, but you're not. I was greeted right away, and I knew what sandwich I wanted, and was given a choice on what toppings I could choose as well as the soups they have fresh made daily and types they had for that day. For lunch, I ordered The New Yorker, which was smoked salmon and cream cheese. I had it on a toasted whole wheat bagel, with their dill and cucumber cream cheese, smoked salmon, cucumber and sprouts (you know it's a good lunch deli when they have sprouts!), It was absolutely delicious and the smoked salmon was so flavourful. I had ordered this with a soup and a drink. The total came to around $13 for the whole meal, but it was absolutely worth it. They also have gift cards, sandwich and coffee cards with the most clever design on it. I am recommending this place to everyone and I know I'll be coming back for lunch. I should have stopped in sooner!

Staff are always…read morefriendly and welcoming - but its the sandwiches that really keep me coming back every time I'm in Stratford. The newest location is right by the river - with lots of public parking across the street. Beautiful old building and a nicer overall decor than the previous spot. Still colourful - with cool drawings of their famous sandwiches on the walls. Lots on offer, but really, who am I kidding? "Mennonite sandwich, please" is what I said - and what you better say if you know what's good for ya. That delicious summer sausage, fresh corn relish with a subtle but delicious kick of spice. The cheddar - classic taste - nice slice - just how I like it. Definitely not processed cheese. The fresh country white bread - melt in your mouth but still with a crunchy brown crust. MMMMMMMMMennonites seem to have the secret of sandwich making down pat. This is the kind of sandwich that puts hair on your chest...What's that joke - why do Mennonite boys grow beards? Because they want to look just like their moms! Lol a bit off side maybe there - but my point is simple - a hearty, tasty sandwich - one of the best and most classic available in Ontario. Get out there and grab a few. The baking is also delicious!!

Fab! The best sandwiches in Stratford! At INCREDIBLE prices, too!!!…read more Check out the checklist-style takeout menu: http://www.yorkstreetkitchen.com/YSKSandwichmenu.pdf Most of my friends are huge fans of the Mennonite Sandwich. I enjoy the Othello (sans pesto, of course) but most often create-my-own. Last time I was there I had local goats cheese (swoon-inducing) on multigrain (OMG freshly-baked and so so so good) with alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocados, lettuce, roasted sweet red peppers, honey mustard (made by local mennonites!) & mayo. I always add the "deli dills" - I'm pretty sure they're local mennonite too. Needless to say, PHENOMENAL. They also have THE MOST AMAZING 4-bean salad. Try it. Trust me. I don't even LIKE bean salad all that much... this one converted me. Really. GET IT. They lose a star because it's time to fix the service. It takes waaay too long to get your food, and that's true whether you eat in or order from the take-out window. Service is a bit better for breakfast, but still nothing to rave about. Expect to wait 20-30 minutes for your food. The kitchen & waitstaff are unfortunately more often than not visibly frazzled/stressed. I have been here for breakfast a bunch of times, as well as dinner once or twice. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their jam - "moss berry" - never heard of it before or since! For dinner, I've had the Spinach, Marinated Mushroom, Red Onion and Goat Cheese Pizza ($6.50) as well as the Caramelized Broccoli, Red Onion and Ricotta Stuffed Pasta Shells baked in a our slow-cooked Tomato Sauce ($13.95). Both VERY yummy. Their breakfast burrito is legendary. I must recommend it as your first breakfast expedition at YSK. For meat-eaters, try the peameal bacon. LOCAL PORK FACTOIDS: A note on peameal bacon + Stratford: this is prime peameal bacon territory. If you don't make it to YSK, try to get to the Stratford Farmer's Market where you will find a chuckwagon of sorts vending DREAMY peameal bacon sandwiches. OMG. AMAZING. Perth County produces some of the best pork in the country. If you're passing through Shakespeare on the way to Stratford (or back - it's just east of Stratford), make a stop at "The Best Little Pork Shoppe", which is certainly NOT little. Check it out: http://www.porkshoppe.com/ Last interesting pork fact? The Annual Ontario Pork Congress happens in Stratford too. Just one more point in proof that Stratford is THE place to be eating pork. Which I don't, to clarify. I've been a veghead for 13 years now. But I have juicy childhood memories of Saturday mornings at the market with my Dad eating peameal bacon sandwiches with LOCAL bacon, LOCAL cheddar cheese, FRESHLY-CHURNED LOCAL butter on a FRESHLY-BAKED kaiser bun. FOR REAL. Back to TSK breakfast. I've also had the French Toast with local maple syrup and some sort of homemade apple-pie-filling-type side (INCREDIBLE) and the H.M.S. Pinafore Breakfast Sandwich (toasted bagel with that gorgeous local goat cheese, smoked salmon, tomato, onion & lettuce) is worth a try too!
