    Brisket sandwich
    Tesla A.

We were just driving through the cross plains when we started getting super hungry and found this place on google with great reviews. I am so happy we stopped here the prices were so cheap and the brisket sandwich was literally the best I've ever had! Amazing customer service at the drive though window, the woman working offered my dogs some spare brisket trimmings and they were so happy. The peach cobbler and fries and fried okra were all sooo good too! If you're driving by make sure to stop here!

We were traveling through the town of Cross Plains and needed a place to eat. Husband was in the mood for BBQ, so after a quick call to insure the place was open, we chose Bubba's. The employees were very friendly, and the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Husband got the Cajun Tater, a huge mountain of potato, butter, meat, topped with Bubba's crawfish and shrimp etoufee, and finished with shredded cheese, sour cream and green onions. I would have sworn he couldn't finish that beast, but he found it delicious and not only finished it, but ate the skin! I ordered a Senior plate, and got a serving of sliced brisket, fries, sweet potato casserole and peach cobbler. My opinion: the brisket was average plus, the fries were delicious and fresh, the sweet potato casserole was dry, and the peach cobbler was made from canned peaches, with a seasoned cracker topping, no ice cream. This place was a hit or miss, with the Cajun Tater taking first place and my meal a distant last.

Simple and cheerful atmosphere, nice and clean!

I've left a review for this restaurant before but it was based primarily on the food. The service…read moreis usually lacking but not as bad as today. My sister & I shown up around 4:05pm on Saturday, March 21st. There were two booths open. One still had stuff on it so we sat at what looked like the clean table. It apparently had not been wiped clean. There was water and some sort of sticky stuff on it. We told the young man about the sticky stuff and asked for a towel to clean the table. The young man brought us a dry towel. We ended up using hand sanitizer to clean the table. After about 15 minutes of waiting, my sister brings attention to the waitress that we would like to get drinks. The waitress, Carson, informed us that they're closed from 3:30pm to 4:30pm due to waitress/cook shift change, but since it was just two of us and it's nearly 4:30, she will go ahead and serve us. We feel that if the restaurant is closed for any reason, no matter the length of time, there should be a sign & the door should be locked. We ordered a large chicken fried steak and fried pickles. I said that we want the pickles first. The CFS came and I reminded her that we wanted the pickles first. She then said that she put in the order and need to check, they should be done. No, we heard them being dropped in the fryer. Then, when receiving our pickles, she said that the boy was cutting pickles when we came in and so they weren't read.... I say bolony. I don't believe either thing she said. The water was gross, unsure if the glasses were dirty but I had stuff floating in mine. It actually tasted like it had another soda in it. My sister's was awful too. She went next door and bought 2 bottles of water. I told Carson about the water. She didn't offer anything else to drink or take our glasses away. After being served, Carson never came back to the table. I'm only give a second star because of the food. Staff would get a 0 stars if I could. Update: Since this review, they've updated their hours on Google.

The waitress was the best part of this visit. She was super nice and was the ONLY server. The TLDR…read moreis the wait was not worth the food. We waited over an hour and a half for our appetizer. The brisket poppers did not contain brisket. After we have been there for so long, we were then told they were out of buffalo sauce for the Buffalo chicken salad. The pork chops were bland and the portion of Mac and cheese tasted odd and was tiny. Chicken fried steak was okay.

Completely unexpected just a few miles from Camp Bowie. Reservations recommended. Came with a group and snagged half a dozen seats at the bar. Started with cocktails. Everyone was pleased. Heavy pours. Austin prices. Totally worth it. You know you are in the presence of culinary excellence when the menu is limited to less than a dozen items. Crab cakes. That is all. Order it. Eat it. Move along. Korean fried chicken is the bomb ! Get it. No regrets. As is the wedge. Pick a steak. Order it medium rare. It's truly that good. And, apparently, even if you aren't a fan of mac&chz - you can (and should) get it with seafood, steak, or that f'n delicious Korean fried chicken. Just get it to go and arm wrestle your 9 year old for it tomorrow. Poor kid is going hungry... Exceptional service. Owner is welcoming and awesome. Bar manager is awesome. Ambiance is awesome. Perini Ranch Steakhouse is outstanding!…read more The 16-ounce ribeye was excellent. The beef quality was superb--thick-cut, tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned without overpowering its natural flavor. While the edges were cooked slightly beyond medium due to the uneven cut, that's a very minor critique. The grilled asparagus was delicious, and the green chile hominy was absolutely amazing. Overall, I would give Perini Ranch Steakhouse a 98 out of 100. The food, atmosphere, and quality were exceptional, making it one of the best of the steakhouses I've experienced.

We took the onions and cucumbers off our salad due to dietary issues and that left us with lettuce, mushrooms, and dressing. Our burger was the best part. It was cooked well, and the bun was soft. The strawberry shortcake was disappointing. The fruit was stewed and the biscuits were hard with just room temp heavy cream to offset the temperature of the fruit. For ambiance, it was nothing to write home about. Very busy and very loud, but it was a Saturday evening so that was to be expected. What I didn't expect was the lack of air conditioning in July. It was over 100 degrees that day, and it was cooler outside. Unacceptable for Texas in July when you're seating tables 3' from each other. Our server was good. She was attentive, and kept our water glasses filled. We may try again once the weather cools down.
