We were driving back home between Austin and Lubbock on Easter Sunday. Just our luck they were open when so many were closed but we had no idea just how they would make us feel right at home! We brought our toddler with us and they went out of their way to hid Easter eggs for him! Mom and Dad even received a special surprise as well in one of the eggs! We will never be back. The owner/manager treated us aggressively and like criminals because we asked for tax exemption as required by State/Federal regulations due to our affiliation with a state university. Did not want to hear or look at our paperwork showing the guidelines. Afterwards we were given a carafe with mold actively growing in it. Ice floats and does not jiggle like jello so we have concerns about cleanliness. We were afraid to complain due to the earlier confrontation. Wait staff was nice! Superb dining experience! We loved the atmosphere and Star Wars theme to drinks and some of the decor. The food was amazing. We had the boom boom shrimp, hot ham and cheese sandwich with an extra side salad, and shrimp po'boy. Everything was perfection. Our waitress, Tamya answered all our questions about the food items and was overall amazing. They have a full bar and both inside and outside seating depending on your mood. My wife and I stopped by this wonderful little restaurant and bar while we were passing through town on our way back to Austin from out of state. It had been a long day for us, and we were hungry. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a very friendly and polite young man who instructed us to "sit anyplace you like", brought us clean menus and utensils, took our drink order, and promptly brought our drinks to the table. He checked back with us often, but allowed us the time we needed to review the menu without making us feel rushed. Both my wife and I ordered the Chicken and Dumplings, which was on the specials of the day menu. While we waited for our food a couple of folks who I suspect may be the owners or management entered the room and said hello. The lady was the bartender who actually had made our meals. She was really kind and shared her family recipe with my awesome wife. This is important because that was simply the very best tasting chicken and dumplings meal that we have ever had at any restaurant anywhere! Also of note is the fact that this is the cleanest, neatest bar and restaurant I have ever been privileged to dine in during my 59 years on this planet. Even the restroom was immaculate, not to mention tastefully decorated with a smattering of Star Wars bits and bobs, and the toilet is even equipped with a bidet to help ensure that you will return to your table with a fresh and clean backside should you need to have a seat in there. While we were dining a large family entered and was seated for dinner and drinks, as were a small group of young women. All patrons apparently were receiving the same exceptionally high level of service as we were. If you ever need a nice place to have drinks and/or a tasty meal in this area, you simply cannot do any better than to stop by this beautiful and cozy little restaurant. Five stars! If I could give them ten stars, I would. ps, I read the one or two bad reviews that someone else had left, and all I have to say is that the customer is NOT always right. Sometimes they are just "that guy or gal", and no matter how much you try, you just cannot please everyone. Some people are just never going to be happy. This is a first class establishment. Visited over the weekend after a local funeral. Had the Ribeye steak & shrimp and it was delicious! The lady that waited on us was so sweet and very attentive. The whole place was well decorated and I really enjoyed the vibe of the place! Kid friendly also which is always a huge plus! I saw every single employee there working their butts off to make everyone happy so I will absolutely be back again soon. Prices for alcohol were reasonable too. The Law of Averages says that sometimes, a great place may have a less than perfect experience sometimes. We have been here over ten times, afternoons and evenings, and haven't experienced poor service or seen rude staff ever. (Hard to believe some of the harsh statements left in other reviews.) Smiles welcome us every time. There always seems to be additional effort to improve menu, events, and outside environments. I've seen children and pets catered to and the food has always been good. Sometimes, specialty drinks are weaker than other times and they are not the cheapest drinks in town, but being open more than most eateries here and having a welcoming and experienced staff isn't cheap in a small town economy, I'm sure. Scottie's continues to deliver good service and quality food for us and is always a good choice in Coleman. Sliders with jam are wonderfully and surprisingly good. This is by far the best restaurant in Coleman, Texas (and I'd say even Coleman County)! The food was absolutely incredible. We had the flatbread meatball pizza and the Orange Go-Chew-Jar-O Chile Chicken Wings. The chicken wings were so big and breaded so lightly, but so tasty! They use dry seasonings so there is no saucy mess. The best flavors I've had anywhere in Texas! Flavors come in Garlic Parmesan, Buffalo, Orange Go-Chew-Jar-O Chile and Lemon Pepper. The atmosphere was clean, and somewhere you'd consider a great casual dining place for a fabulous meal or better yet, a great date or anniversary night. The restrooms are upscale and clean. The music was a nice touch and just perfect! The Service was unbelievable. We met the owner Carl (from California) and their bartender Kelsey. They even brought us a sampler of their Mozzarella sticks which were breaded different from the chicken wings but breaded so well. The cheese was stringy and hot and flavorful and served with gourmet ranch and homemade marinara sauce. Y'all need to eat here! You won't regret it! I ate here Friday April 26th 2024 All I ordered was a Mac and cheese for my two year old , some wings and a potato and when I tell you it comes out to almost 100$ for that food that should have been my first red flag. but I still went to pick it up after the 30 minutes they said , there was only 2 people eating inside and it took them another 30 minutes to finally get the food. When I got home and opened it up the wings were supposed to to be Garlic Parm and Scottie's Buffalo and after three people trying them nobody could distinguish the flavors, we had no idea which was which , but considering the skin was black and leathery maybe that's why , The potato LOOKED okay , I def had high hopes after seeing the presentation but after having a couple bites I was done, vey boring flavors , no sauce and nothing special about it at all. Our party of five drove over from Brownwood today (Sunday) for Brunch. We were greeted by a cool wave of refreshing air as we entered the front door. A very good first impression, especially with this current Texas heat wave. We were seated at a table with comfortable chairs and a cushioned and colorful banquette. Our server was Terri and she was a delight throughout the entire Brunch. Our brunch began with individual chilled bowls of fresh watermelon and grapes. A very nice first gesture! We ordered carafes of Mimosas and Bloody Mary's. They hit the spot! Our Brunch Entrees were well prepared and presented. Delicious Chicken Fried Steak. The owners made several visits to our table and were engaging and interesting. The Chocolate Cake was delicious and the coffee fresh. Our experience today was excellent in every way and we all agreed on a future return visit. We exited the side door that opens onto the colorful shaded deck and enjoyed the landscape and cool water misters as we made our way to our cars. I had a great brunch at Scotty's Bistro today! I ordered the two egg breakfast with bacon; it came with home fried hash brown potatoes and sourdough toast. The over medium eggs were the best I've had in a restaurant! The whites were fully cooked while the yolk was runny! PERFECTION!! My server was wonderful!! Not having the jelly I ordered she brought me the best blackberry jelly I've had in a long time! I moved back to Coleman (after being away for 53 years) five months ago. We stopped here on a whim while traveling from New Mexico to Central Texas and were blown away by the quality of food and service. The restaurant itself has an eclectic, friendly vibe, great music, incredible food/wine/drinks, and the friendliest owners and staff. They haven't even been open a full year, and they have already been voted #2 by locals in the area, outpacing other establishments that have been here for decades. We don't have anything against run-of-the-mill steakhouses, burger joints, and Tex-Mex, but if you're looking for something with extra flair (i.e. daily specials, homemade cooked-to-order food, fun cocktails, and a great wine list), then you DEFINITELY need to come here. The fried green tomatoes were a fantastic appetizer, and the hatch pepper burger and angel hair pasta with shrimp were both to die for. Hubby and I split a slice of the chocolate cheesecake for dessert, which was light and fluffy (not dense and heavy) and melt-in-your-mouth delicious without being too sweet. We 100% recommend this wonderful bistro and will most definitely be back when we pass through town! read more

Well after calming down from our recent experience.... I have felt compelled to review. Walked in with 4 adults and 4 children. We barely had a chance to walk in the door when the owner asked how many, rude like. Before we could even count, he decides screaming " how many " was an adequate welcome. He then yelled for us to go in the back of the restaurant ( due to his dislike of children I am assuming ). He yelled very loudly again " to the back ". The waitress was cleaning a table for us in front until this happened. We walked to the back and then realized why in the world would we obey this extremely rude, frantic man. We were happy to sit outside so the kids could be kids, but that was not offered as an option. The waitress that is our friend came out and apologized as we look forward to come see her every time we are in town. One of the kids did have a their shoes on the booth and he yelled to " stay off my furniture " ( I do understand keeping furniture clean but the anger that was behind it was unbelievable ). I am appalled as I have never been spoken to like there especially by an owner of a local business.Appalled, disgusted, and quite frankly sick at my stomach at the experience. To sum it up, we were gonna spend probably 200 or more there and would have continued to come in and support as we spent 60 yesterday. And do not take children as it is not family friendly especially when the owner is having a bad day ! Oh and we left out the back door without acknowledgement. read more
