Macaroni and cheese (has a Cajun kick to it) and 1/4lb brisket. The hot bbq sauce on the table kicked it up a notch!

Finally made it in! I loved it. Has a total small town feel. Nothing fancy, but great service. The rib deal they had when we went was amazing. All three sides we tried were delicious. We had a ton of food and two beers for $50 with tip.

A chilly evening after 7pm we made a quick stop in to have some BBQ!~ The location is nice and cozy. Enter on the south side of the building and you find a few tables, a bar and a kitchen. The entrance is right next to Filet with plenty of parking. Its the new year, but they are still festive with the holiday decorations. There were a few tables with people eating but easily snagged a table. The waitress came over and took our drink orders. I can share now that we should have planned better and been their earlier in the evening. They were out of ribs. Since we were light eaters we decided to split the Rib & Meat platter but when we learned the ribs were gone the waitress talked us into the pulled chicken with our burnt ends. The sides were the waffle fries and coleslaw. I think we had wanted the Mac and cheese but it was out too. Like I said, we would plan better on the next trip and not show at the end of the day. The meal was enough for us to split for a light meal. We all got to try each thing. The coleslaw was rather good! The waffle fries came out hot a fresh! The burnt ends melted in my mouth and are my personal favorite when it comes to bbq. The pulled chicken was moist and good. The last thing we enjoyed was the corn bread biscuit. They were little and we had ordered enough for us to each have one, but the flavor was good and didn't even need honey. I am ready to go back for ribs. The food came quick and still good even at the very end of the day.

First time at Bubbie's and we'll be back. Server Jamie S. was awesome! Food excellent. Small diner-like atmosphere, order is taken at your table. We had their Sunday $10 wing special. Tried garlic parm and bourbon glaze sauce. Both were good. Husband and son had meat platters with burnt ends, brisket and pulled pork. Meat was tender, flavorful, and moist. Sides were huge. Baked beans, Mac and cheese and jalapeño cream corn were also very good. Cream corn was cheesy , husband said Mac and cheese was a little spicy but he is sensitive to spice. Mini corn bread muffins so moist. We will definitely be back.

This is a picture of the lunch rack. Sorry, I couldn't wait to take a picture until after I ate.

Still the best service, quality, quantity and price anywhere around. Lots of BBQ places but nothing compares. This time of year their outdoor patio is a great place to eat alsoby

Pulled Chicken aandwich w/jalapeno corn was fantastic. Chicken was moist and melts in your mouth. I'm already planning my second visit.

So tasty and juicy. I should have bought two orders because my friend wanted to eat all of it. Brisket burnt ends were amazing! The bark was so yummy. Brisket was moist and Smokey. Perfect size, too. Pulled pork was also juicy and Smokey. Pork at other places can dry out quickly, but not at Smokey D's. It was filled with flavor and I couldn't stop eating it (until I had eaten all of it). Baked beans were very tasty and good. Coleslaw was just the right creamy sweetness to keep the palette clean. Not pictured was the two orders of garlic toast I ordered after eating the piece that came with the plate. Overall a sweet 10/10 from me, or as a BBQ judge, I give it all straight 9's.

See you for our next birthday lunch!

The monthly flavored shakes are also a nice treat. And where can one get some of the best Brussels sprouts at a chicken place? They are delish! You can get your sandwiches grilled, fried, in a wrap or in a salad. For me, all great options but the original fried is my go to- large, always perfectly cooked and juicy chicken. The service is as fantastic as the food- always friendly. And- dogs allowed! Outdoor patio seating in addition to indoor and (let me repeat what exceptional service) they find you even when you change your mind and start one place and end in the other. Drive through is a nice option and the only (good) problem for this business that started out as a food truck is that at peak times parking and pulling out can be tricky with the drive through. I mean- the service is always worth 20+ but I appreciate this range as opposed to so many that start at 15% or higher. There was a small but steady crowd throughout the night and we had top- notch service from our server- knowledgeable about the menu, attentive in the 'just right way' - carefully observing drinks and not interrupting date night more than necessary. A variety of local And other craft beers were featured although surprisingly not any from Firetrucker next door! The holiday decor was still up but even without it has a warm feel- love the various table sizes and heights and the long bar with a pretty decent offering for cocktails. While there, the bartender was experimenting with drinks and having fun. After recommendations I ordered the French dip which was phenomenal! Homemade bread, warm, generous meat and peppers and grilled onions, flavorful dip . I will say if I ordered again I would ask to have the sauce left off as I am not a fan of horseradish sauce. Still, it was tasty! Side salad as option was super fresh with mixed greens and the house creamy Italian was bursting with herby flavor. my husband had the tenderloin and while delicious- it was 'bougie' and not the traditional Midwest. It was generous and interesting as a dinner option. Would certainly return as the patio is inviting (just not in January)!'

Hawker Kitchen brings authentic Malaysian street food flavors right into the heart of Des Moines,…read moreand it's a spot that feels both comforting and exciting if you're craving Southeast Asian dishes. Char Kueh Teow This dish stood out immediately which has a smoky wok hei flavor (the "breath of the wok") coated the flat rice noodles, giving them that deep caramelized edge that's hard to find outside of Malaysia. The prawns were plump and juicy, and the mix of soy, garlic, and chili gave just the right balance of savory and spicy. Fresh cucumbers and pickled vegetables on the side added a refreshing crunch, making each bite balanced and addictive. Laksa Rich, creamy, and fragrant, the laksa broth was a highlight. The curry coconut base carried layers of spice without being overwhelming, and every sip warmed you from the inside out. The noodles were cooked just right, with toppings that tied it together from seafood to herbs. It's the kind of bowl that makes you pause between spoonfuls just to savor the aroma. Satay The chicken satay had a lovely turmeric and lemongrass marinade, grilled to a slight char that locked in the smoky flavor. Tender on the inside with crispy edges, it paired perfectly with the bold, nutty, and slightly spicy peanut dipping sauce. The cucumber slices on the side helped cut through the richness, just like you'd get back at a hawker stall in Malaysia. Overall Hawker Kitchen is a gem for anyone looking for authentic Malaysian comfort food in Des Moines. Portions are generous, flavors are bold and true to their roots, and the variety on the menu makes it worth repeat visits. If you're new to Malaysian cuisine, start with the satay and char kueh teow; if you're a fan already, the laksa will feel like home.
