We opted for the lychee lemonade and the watermelon lemonade. They were both so delicious and refreshing! Stopped by at noon for boba and was told they are closed for boba. The sign in the front window is lit up "OPEN" and the operating hours on the door clearly state the business should be operating. All the chairs in the shop are flipped up on the tables so I figured it's takeaway only which was no problem, I didn't plan on staying. Not bad. Stopped by Bubble Bee because of its convenient location coming from an elementary volleyball game. I tempered my expectations based on previous reviews but decided to give it a try. I ordered the Luscious Lychee and thoroughly enjoyed my drink. I'm not typically a boba guy but my daughter, the boba expert, convinced me. It was not too sweet which I liked. I added boba in addition to the lychee jelly. The boba was soft and had a good flavor. The lychee jelly was also quite tasty. So much so I took it upon myself to slurp every piece out of my empty cup. My daughter had the Rocking Cream Caramel and enjoyed hers to her surprise. Good flavor. Bubble Bee is not something we'd go out of our way to get unlike some other boba spots but will stop by if in the area. When we visit the Riverpark Farmer's market, we look to see if Bubble Bee is there because we LOVE getting a Korean corndog to eat while we walk around. Customer service is always great and welcoming. They make every transaction quick. You place your order, and then they give you an order number, but make sure you remember it because they don't give you a paper or receipt. Then you wait for your order to be called at the second window. Keep an ear out for your name, it cane be hard to hear sometimes depending on if it's loud! Bubble Bee has a nice and distinguishable food truck display when they set up. They have a large tent that provides shade and a large menu displaying all that they have to offer with prices included. They offer a variety of things ranging from Korean corndogs, boba, wings, and fries. The most popular items on their menu are their Korean corndogs. The corndogs are made to order and come out nice and hot. There is an issue with ordering corndogs, though. I'm not sure if they only do 2 at a time or if they take THAT long, but you could be waiting upwards 15+ minutes for your corndog. Something I've noticed. But regardless of the wait time, they taste really good and are worth it! Their boba teas are also tasty as well and decently sized, although I do feel they are priced a little high, and they're all priced the same. This review is for the Bubble Bee food truck. $8 for a regular Thai Tea with boba was the first red flag. I get charging for some toppings, but $1 for boba is ridiculous. The boba was overcooked and way too soft to enjoy, and the Thai Tea doesn't even taste like Thai Tea. I'm not sure how you can mess Thai Tea up this bad, but they did. I also wouldn't get the kimchi fries again, since they literally just cut up the bottled kimchi and mixed it into the fries. I'm not sure when it switched from bubble tea and curry, to bubble tea and Korean corn dogs/fries. I ordered the kimchi fries tonight as it was slim pickings for vegan/vegetarian options at most of the food trucks and they ended up in the bin. I hate to waste food, but I waited for a long time for a basket of $10 fries, to be handed fries that had maybe a table spoon of chopped up kimchi on top, that were somehow already cold and by the time I'd walked from the truck back to my car, they were also soggy, since it was an open tray in the rain (I tried to cover them the best I could). I had high hopes for this boba truck! Especially that they have been coming to the Tesoro Viejo community where I live. This has been one of the worst boba drinks I've ever had and I didn't think that was possible to mess up a thai tea (thai tea, half and half, and sweetened condensed milk). I ordered the iced thai tea with boba. It tasted like old watered tea with no sweetness! It was a small cup 12oz which they don't show a larger cup in the photos of the menu and there isn't an option for a larger size either. It was $8!!!! The drink was $7 and $1 for boba!! I think it's ridiculous for one drink that small! I hope their other drinks are better but they have lost my business.
