I have to update this review, purely based on the seasonal drink creations that they curate and are so intentional about. The customer service is always an A+. Through and through I have always been greeted with a smile, no matter which employee is working. Including the owner, she is just a phenomenal human being. The inside is always clean and with the summer here, the A/C is always running. It makes this the perfect refuge for the 107° heat. Back to the seasonal menu!! What also stands out is the Mango Pomelo Sago. Being Filipino, I grew up around sago - it's a staple in many desserts. I wish I could describe how incredible this drink is. Definitely the best & most authentic matcha spot in Fresno. If I want a good quality matcha with zero disappointment I always come here. Their consistently is unmatched. I have gone multiple times & every time my drink tastes exactly the same as before regardless of what staff is working or the time of day. The service is also top tier. But I'm honestly glad that I was patient with this business because as of lately I noticed a shift and I think they found their groove which has made me enjoy coming in whenever I'm nearby! The recent staff is so friendly and accommodating, knowledgeable on recommendations as I tend to bring friends who haven't tried this place yet which is a plus! Service is fast and drinks come out consistent in taste which I appreciate so much. Their matcha is honestly the best in town as of right now for me. Again, CONSISTENT. I had to come on here and update my review. The matcha may be good but I don't agree how things were handled in this situation. I brought a group of friends . We all ordered the coconut cloud matcha. One of the girls wanted to try the banana matcha and strawberry matcha in addition to what we ordered. A few guests walked in and placed their order after my friends. A couple that came in after us also ordered the banana and strawberry matcha. They called out my friend's name, but the couple, who was sitting closer to the pick up counter, grabbed the drinks before she was able to reach the counter. They were not paying attention to the name that was called. The guy opened a straw and put it in the banana matcha cup. After several minutes of it sitting in front of their faces, the couple realized they picked up an order that was not theirs and returned it. My friend ordered a strawberry matcha with modifications. The staff stated they would remake the orders. The couple proceeded to "return" the wrong orders back to the counter. Once my friend's order was ready and picked up, I noticed that there was already a straw in the banana matcha. I asked my friend if she placed the straw in herself. She did not. Basically, they "re-served" the same banana matcha that the guy had in front of his face with the same straw that he had placed in there himself. Absolutely disgusting. We asked them to re-make it. They gave us some pushback because "he did not drink it". But that is his straw that he touched with his bare hands. And he's already breathed on it too. It may not sound like a big deal, but you never know what illnesses people may have. Food that has been brought out and touched by another customer and returned should never be served to someone else. I am appalled. read more

Oh my goodness..... The Urban Pearl!! I've been here several times since they opened in early 2025 and believe it's one of the best boba businesses in the greater Fresno area. Their drinks, service, consistency, and overall atmosphere make the shop an excellent place. Their drinks are quite delicious. I have tried several of them and each one is unique with great tea flavor. They are not overbearingly sweet or creamy and also look great. The presentation is on point and I love the cups as well. The menu is organized into categories, including Milk Tea, Matcha, Smoothies, and Fruit Teas. I have tried a few drinks from each category and enjoyed them all. It is safe to say you will find something enjoyable dependent on your preference. The service has always been quick. Staff are friendly and very knowledgeable and quick to answer any of your questions. The place itself has a decent amount of seating and I have seen it busy with people studying and/or doing work. The Urban Pearl has become my favorite boba shop in Fresno! The interior is modern and perfect for waiting for your drinks or studying inside for a while. It does get dim inside at night so I like to study there during the day. The staff are SO kind and attentive. I ordered a less sweet drink and received a regular sweet level by mistake. Although I didn't even notice, the kind staff member gave me a re-made less sweet one when she caught the original error. This speaks to their levels of care and standard of service! I am always in the search for a new Boba Place regardless of where I am visiting. On a recent visit to Fresno, I did yet another Yelp search and came across The Urban Pearl. Giving its proximity and it's high Yelp reviews, I decided to give it a shot. We arrived within the last hour before closing on a Friday evening. There was still a good amount of a crowd when we arrived, and we were helped by a staff member pretty quickly. There's a decent selection of milk teas, fruit teas and slushies. Prices seem to be average for fresno, but higher than where I am from. Staff is friendly and patient. Unless they, I love the interior decor which is modern and calm. On this visit, we ordered one golden oolong milk tea with Boba and one mango tea with rainbow jelly. The milk tea was a bit more better than I would like, and overall, The taste was pretty average. My only complaint is the size of the font for their printed menu located high up on the wall behind the ordering counter. They do have a printed version yet again with very small font, however, this is much more usable than the one up high on the wall. While this is not my favorite, I do like it for the convenience of the location. read more

Ube Coconut Taro Smoothie with Boba $6.95 : I can't taste the coconut and taro at all. Ube and taro do have a slightly same taste so I couldn't tell the different taste. But, It taste just like a regular ube smoothie. The ube taste more of like a fresh ube and thick yam taste; instead of just powder mix. Sweetness level is just right. It's on a lightly sweet side that goes really well with the drink. RATE : 3/5 CONS : The Ube sauce is oily so after drinking a cold drink, my mouth feels sticky. like the oil is stuck on my tongue. Iced Uji Matcha $7 : slightly sweet. Very powdery. The powder didn't disovle well. It's a bit on the bitter side. I felt like, each time before you drink it, you have to stir it before drinking it. You can see the dark green part is floating half way at the bottom of the drink. RATE : 3/5 INTERIOR : Urban and simple design. A tiny location with only a few tables by the wall. It's a little dark in there for the ambience. SERVICE : Freindly and great service. They do take awhile to make just 2 drinks. It wasn't busy but it took them a good 15 min. However, the lady in front of me ordered like 4 drinks and puchased the rest of the macarons that my teen wanted so we had to settle for what was leftover - which was only like 2 flavors. There was like 5-7 flavors but only like 3 flavors left when we got there. There was only 2 staff that day but they pumped out those drinks fast. Our wait was like 10 minutes. 5 of 5 stars Food/Offering: Purchased the Cookies N Cream and 3 Salted Caramel macarons. While the drink was reasonable priced, the macarons were 3 for $10 (Yikes!) In fairness, they were bigger macarons and they didn't skimp on the filling. Both the drink and macarons were good. 5 of 5 stars Overall: My teen was the beneficiary of this so I sought her input. I really enjoy The Urban Pearl for both boba and study sessions! I've been coming here pretty regularly, and it's been great to see how much they've improved since opening. You can tell they've been working out the kinks as a newer shop. The drinks average around $7-8, which is a bit on the pricier side but not unreasonable. By now, I've tried a good number of drinks, and a few stand out as my favorites. For fruit teas, the Lychee Rose is my go-to, with the Mango not far behind. I usually opt for "less sweet" since I like adding boba, which balances things out. I've also tried the Mango Passionfruit, which has a nice flavor, but I'd probably enjoy it more if the passionfruit seeds were strained out (the texture doesn't mix well with boba). For milk teas, I recommend the Roasted Oolong. I prefer it hot, and with or without boba. It has a deeper, richer flavor than your standard milk tea, and it's not overly sweet, which I prefer. The space is on the smaller side, but I've usually been able to find a table with friends. Parking in the plaza is pretty easy, and while it can get a bit busier on certain days, the noise level stays manageable. It is great for studying or casual conversation. I asked the cashier which of the oolongs is the most popular and she said roasted oolong so I got that one. I don't taste the tea flavor like some other reviewers said. Rare Tea is the only place in town where I taste the tea. 75 cents for any toppings is pricier than most boba places where it's 50 cents. Doesn't stand out from other boba places. Decor is clean and modern; hasn't changed much since the gelato place that used to be here. Service was ok. They could have menus more readily available other than just the board behind the counter (too far and at an angle so it's hard to read when in line) and the print out at the counter; that'll help ordering move faster so people in line can peruse the menu and be ready to order when it's their turn. I'll like be back to try their Vietnamese coffee since I'm more of a coffee than tea person. My husband and I have been at this location a few years back when it used to be another boba place felt the place was okay and haven't returned until yesterday. Excited to see another boba place had opened in place of it. Arrived around 7pm there were so many people inside. We were greeted by the gentleman taking orders luckily it was just my husband and I in line to order because we would have held up the line. The kind gentleman was so patient he literally took his time explaining everything on the menu, all of his recommendations and popular items and goes into detail of what they put in the drinks (no high fructose corn syrup, fresh fruits in their smoothies, etc) they also have fresh macarons 3 for $8.50. After all his recs it made our decision a bit more difficult since they all sounded so delicious and we wanted them all lol definitely all the more reason to come back. I ended up getting and ube coconut taro with egg puddling, was told this drink was good for people who are lactose intolerant, thankfully I'm not one but I love me any type of ube and I love both coconut and Ube together. My husband ordered a fruit drink; lychee rose fruit tea with aloe Vera 60% sweet. Waited about 10mins for our drinks. My ube coconut was so good, egg puddling so soft. My husband's tea tasted floral as it should and it was my first time having aloe vera as a topping, interesting good, perfect level of sweetness. I thought if that was at 60%, normal sweetness would have been too sweet for our taste. So that was a good call. The macarons ordered (3): strawberry, cookies n crème and birthday cake. They were pretty big and fluffy compared to the standard ones. Each one was delicious, the shell was perfect and inside was delicate and soft to bite. Flavors were on point, I'm a cookies n cream kind of gal and that the flavor to that cookies n crème was *chef kiss my daughter ate majority of the macarons but the cookies n crème I kept for myself lol I can't express enough how amazing and kind the staff are. They went above and beyond from the beginning of our visit simply by going over the menu with recommendations and when we got our order they wanted to make sure everything was good and they made it a point to tell us if we were unhappy with our drinks they would gladly make us a new one. They have 9 different topping options. I got to try their boba, and the consistency is on point! Nice and chewy, bouncy, and it's soaked in that brown sugar. I know a good boba when I have it. The order: Ube Milk Tea was so rich in flavor, the ube really shines and it's my husband's personal fav. The Brown Sugar Boba Milk tea was so delectable, feels like I'm having a dessert! I have had a of different Roasted Oolong Milk tea, and this is VERY good totally recommend! The Osmanthus Oolong was nice and aromatic, you have a nice hint of the Osmanthus flower. I really enjoyed this drink. The Coconut Matcha I drink the second day and it was still great. A nice combination of the coconut hydration and the matcha. This order does come in a 16 oz cup, so don't be alarmed or confused if it is smaller than your other drinks, which is 24oz. You can't go wrong with ordering a House Milk Tea, no complaint, just an overall great drink. The owner recommended ordering the drink as is because it is made to be the PERFECT sweetness. I am not the type to have my drink really sweet and often time will let boba shops know to make my order 75% sweet, but I ordered these drinks all as is. To my surprised, I love it as is! It is not too sweet and not too bland. It is the perfect sweetness! Note: if you do drink your boba tea later you can let the staff know and they don't have to ice your drink. That way, it won't be diluted later when you have it. They also don't use high fructose sweetener, and use sugar cane sugar! I love that! The staff were really nice and I was greeted upon entry, and it was nice to speak the owners of the shop. There are plenty of indoor seating inside great to hangout at or even study. The restroom is open for their guest and it was clean and tidy. They are still very new and are working out the kinks, so do be mindful if your order is coming out a little slower.
