It has been 20 years since I last breathed underwater and the BB Team was awesome. Great equipment, friendly knowledge divemasters, Anthony and Jordan, and the wonderful and knowledgeable Captain Clay made my reimmersion priceless and memorable. Crystal and Blondie facillitated and confirmed everything so it was a super smooth operation. Extra props to Jordan for his knowledge and teaching getting my kids certified. The sealife was incredible and ecology is so important to BB and its direction. A very intimate experience, 1 divemastet, 5 divers. 1 instructor, 2 students. Cant ask for more. Bubbles Below is a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone on the island! My husband and I went out for a two tank dive at Camp One & House of the Turtles. Captain Clay and dive master Lynda were both interactive, friendly and took time to ensure we saw everything possible and enjoyed the experience. Outside of the amazing fish, eels & turtles we saw on the dives, we were able to see several whales breaching and dolphins playing while hanging out during our surface interval - definitely take time to use them for any dives! read more

Did two dives with Capt. Clay, Dave, and Tay (Sorry, I may have the female Dive Instructors (Tay) name incorrect) on 7-23-19. Very well run operation. Very friendly and make you feel at ease. Our group consisted of two students and four certified divers. Dave had the students, and Tay had me and three other dives who were all very nice. Two were a couple from England, and one was from North Carolina. All nice people. We dove two reefs that were about 15 minutes from the harbor, which was nice. Short boat ride. Saw many turtles on these reefs. Lots of fish and animals that you would expect. I would use them again in the future. The boat is small but very easy to dive from. They offer snacks and water. Captain Clay and his wife Blondy have developed a scuba company that is second to none. I have been scuba diving all over Hawaii, and in many other countries, and have never experienced a company so dedicated to customer service and to safety. Blondy and her team set us up for a stellar week of diving, and Captain Clay went out of his way to find us the best dive sites each day. No matter the time or gas it would take to get to the best site, Clay was willing to go the extra mile. We had a great experience of the South and West sides of Kaua'i, and of the Na Pali Coast. Topping it all off was a great day at Ni'ihau and Lehua Rock/Crater where we saw lots of bigger life such as Monk Seals. We always felt safe in the hands of Captain Clay- much safer than I've ever felt on a dive boat. We had a really wonderful time diving Ni'ihau! The best Hawaiian dives we've ever done. The monk seals, a mantra ray, and plenty of sharks made the clear blue water even more amazing. The caverns we swam through added a lot of drama to the underwater landscape. There was plenty of food, and this vegetarian did not go hungry despite all of the pizza and sandwiches being meaty! read more

These guys were amazing! Jordan our dive master not only took good care of us but was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about what was down below. We did 2 dives. The first one was a "drift" dive because of the current. Amazing! The second dive was even more incredible. So many titles we lost track! Jordan had a great little board and would write under water about what we were looking at. Just a great touch! Addy was our instructor for our four dives in order to get certified as an Open Water Diver. I strongly recommend her as an instructor, she was very patient and knowledgeable. Had a great time diving with Bubbles Below. My husband and I did our Advanced Open Water certification while visiting the island. We had a great time diving with Divemaster Travis. He was equal parts fun, safety-conscious and engaging. Everything you want in a divemaster. He took care to show us endemic species and make us aware of everything going on around us (whale songs anyone?). The only negative was that there were some administrative issues in organizing our dives before we arrived. I understand that there were some staffing changes and that accommodations had to be made for another diving party. It was mildly irritating to have to try to reorganize our dive plans. But it all worked out in the end. Overall, I would recommend the Bubbles Below team for your scuba diving on Kauai. Everyone we met and dived with was fantastic! read more

Not sure why I had 4 stars. Editing it after 4 years Bubbles below was great - Linda is very black or white [per another review] but i would prefer that to "ill do anything to get your business" kind of attitude. They are competitvely priced and are very professional. Linda was very kind to offer to have my instructor Travis drive out of his way and pick me up and drop me back at the hotel for a very nominal charge for gas which is absolutely understandable. I did my open water dives with them and i cannot say how much i appreciate Travis my Dive Master. He was patient and made sure i performed all my necessary skills even with several attempts - he dint cut corners. Amber - another Dive Instructor was super nice - she was always there - making sure i was fine [got severely sea sick - but made it through] I will be visiting Kauai hopefully in 2013 again and if and when i do -i will be calling BB for sure. I loved these guys 3 years ago, but recently had a terrible experience with them. I won't dive Bubbles Below again unless I can assure that Anthony won't be my master. I honestly think he contributed to me having a terrible experience in the water that made me doubt whether I should be diving again, and I went out again later with another outfit and had a TOTALLY DIFFERENT experience. It confirmed for me that he was really the issue. I'm not an expert diver, but I have over 30 dives under my belt in some very difficult situations (wreck, deep-120ft, night, serious drifts that are way faster than Mana Crack, tunnels, etc.). I've been exposed to at least 10 different dive masters, and I've had amazing experiences with all of them until Anthony. I hadn't been diving in 3 years, and I made that clear on the phone, and while we were on the boat I went so far as to ask Anthony for a refresher, explaining that I often had difficulty getting down at first and requested a reminder for some tips. Instead of giving me practical dive tips, Anthony told me to take a peak performance buoyancy class. While that's nice advice, that wasn't helpful before my dive. Thankfully there was another dive instructor on the boat as a guest and Anthony's girlfriend, who both offered a couple of tips I already knew, but helped me keep top of mind. When we got into the water, I couldn't get the air in my BCD out. I wasn't seeing bubbles and I thought something might be wrong. Anthony came up to me and snapped, "It's time to go sweetheart." I was clearly trying to get the air out, but it wasn't going, so I thought something was wrong with my equipment. I was also hearing a loud noise upon inhale. Before I could even tell him this, Anthony grabbed my BCD, let out the emergency valve, snapped meanly, "You have to let air OUT of the vest!" and pushed me down. I panicked because I thought something was wrong with my equipment and now my dive master was yelling at me. I debated just going up but I didn't want to lose my dive, so I went down. I had a terrible dive experience that lasted half as long because I was panicking because of Anthony's behavior. When I came up, I had a bloody nose that boat crew noticed. I told them what happened and they explained that some BCDs maneuver differently and gave me some tips. Anthony did not speak to me AT ALL about my dive during the entire stop. Any other dive master would have checked on me. Finally, I found myself apologizing for upsetting him. Eventually, his girlfriend helped me with figuring out my weight situation. Anthony didn't even bother with me. When I forced him to engage, he told me I should always use the rope to let out air of my BCD upon descent, in a way that suggested I should know that. I've since spoken to many other dive instructors and been told this is unusual. My second dive was much better because we had a rope to descend, but I had almost no visibility in my goggles during the dive. If it was any other dive master I would have approached him, but by this point it had been made clear to me that I was a nuisance to Anthony. I took a couple of selfies to diagnose the issue later. I stayed down okay, but couldn't see most of the cool stuff everyone else could and wasn't feeling confident enough to try clearing my goggles completely off my face without a dive master's guidance. I also exited the water with a nose bleed on this dive. From the pics, it is quite clear that's what was obstructing my vision within my goggles, as my mask is full of blood. I do not see how it would be possible for Anthony to have communicated with me under water (which he did) without noticing if he was actually paying attention as he should be. So he either wasn't actually paying attention or he didn't care enough to help me. Either way, I'm appalled. I get the sense that he just wanted to dive with people who are expert divers and he doesn't have to hand hold them. I TOTALLY get that. The problem is that I was so clear before my dives that I hadn't gone out in 3 years, and even on the boat I was super clear with Anthony about where I was. It's not like I pretended to be the best diver ever and then was a newbie. I was honest and got stuck with a dive master who made me feel unsafe under the water. I understand that when diving my life is in my own hands, and that as a certified diver I am responsible for my own safety. I really do get that. However, ANY OTHER COMPANY would provide a dive master that would also serve as a responsible and caring buddy to help me in case of an incident, and that wouldn't make me feel like the jerk when I was completely up front about everything. In addition, there were nav problems on the boat that changed plans for the day and the price for 3 dives I was quoted was the same as the 2 dives I ended up with. Seemed like a rip off. The fact is that I spent almost $400 for a bad experience that made me wonder if I wanted to dive again, UNTIL I dove with someone else. read more

Went out with these guys three times on vacation in Kauai - awesome experience! Jordan and Anthony were our dive masters and were both extremely knowledgable, and taught us a lot about the dive sites and cool critters we were seeing. I got my dive certification just in time for my honeymoon and was definitely a little nervous about my first real open water dive. My friend and I visited Kauai and decided to get our AOW certification with BB. The overall experience was pleasant and everyone was so accommodating. Our dive master Wayne is the best! He is very knowledgable, and helpful to my friend and I. I also like the fact that they only take small groups so you're really getting a lot of attention, which we needed. They also provide food, so between dives you're just hanging out and eating on the boat. Will definitely dive with them again when I am back on the island. read more

My boyfriend and I went out with Captain Clay and dive master Manny this week for a two tank dive and I snorkeled. Crystal in the office was very prompt in the days/weeks leading up to our excursion to let us know that our original Na Pali dive would not be possible due to weather. She was very accommodating in automatically rescheduling us and making the appropriate refunds. During the excursion Captain Clay was extremely gracious and grateful for our business. My boyfriend said the two dives were great with lots to see and take pictures of. We all enjoyed Hale Honu or "house of turtles" on the second dive where I was snorkeling and surrounded by them! I had a great experience with Bubbles Below. I went out for a two tank local dive during a long stretch of bad weather in Kauai and the captain and crew were relaxed and patient while helping us choose a couple good dive sites so that we could actually get in the water. I've done a fair amount of diving around the world and found Bubble's Below to be a perfectly good outfit. All the employees were professional and courteous and their gear/equipment and boats were all well-maintained. Overall I had a very good time considering the weather issues the island was facing during my visit. I'd definitely recommend diving with Bubbles Below if you come to the island. I have so much respect for and gratitude to the great folks who comprise this business that it's hard to put into words. I chartered a boat from Bubbles for my three children and I for the purpose of scattering their father's, my late husband's, ashes. From start to finish the folks at Bubbles were warm, professional, helpful and respectful. Amanda helped me over the phone initially, to help me choose a day and time and whether I wanted an officiant, etc. Then Linea took over and firmed up the details. When we arrived at Bubbles Linea had a beautiful, fragrant bowl of tropical flowers that she had "picked with love" from her own backyard for us to scatter. She drove us down to the boat, where we met the captain, Earl, and his first mate, Chris. They were both so kind and respectful. Earl took us to a quiet bay that he thought would be good for the scattering as it was calm. But my husband was a sailor, so we asked if he could take us out to the open sea. Earl said of course, warning us that it would be rougher waters and higher winds. That suited us. When it was time to scatter the ashes, Earl stopped the motor. Chris had some Hawaiian music (also a favorite of my musician husbands) playing from his iPhone. He helped the kids and I to the side of the boat then stood back respectfully as we scattered the flowers, said our goodbyes, and set the ashes in the ocean. Linea had picked up some biodegradable leis for us and we set them in the ocean over the ashes. Earl then circled the boat as I played a recording of my late husband covering "Wish You Were Here" When we were ready, Earl turned the boat and we slowly went back to port, flowers and leis following for a bit in our wake. Earl pointed out a rainbow that brightened as we rode to shore. It could not have been a better experience and I am so grateful for these fine folks. read more

The response from the owner is full of lies..no surprise! There was NO VOTE! No vote- it was a decision that the captain made, but said he was following instructions from the owner. My bottom time did not take away from anyone else as it was time they needed for the interval. I live between two places, and am a homeowner on Maui. How petty of you- lady- and continuing to be incredibly unprofessional. Take responsibility for your rinky-dink operation- either let people know what they are in for and that you don't have a shop, your equipment is limited and that you are about making money over anything else. The other passengers were VERY unhappy, in fact I'd be surprised if the other person ended up paying you because he was made so late he left without paying. While I appreciate small businesses trying to stay afloat- taking responsibility when you don't do the right thing for a customer is important. You lack that ability. I have made just as many positive reviews, if not more, then negative, so you just continue to lie. I'll be diving and recommending elsewhere. read more

This is hands down the best dive shop in Kauai. From safety and equipment checks at the dock, to terrific piloting, amazing dive sites, easy going manner that never compromised safety, and even a really helpful education on the sea life, my fiancé and I had the best experience. I've been diving with Bubbles Below for over two decades. Certainly, there are many competent dive boats on the island, but you will not get the same quality experience, in my humble opinion. This company is owned and operated by Linda Marsh. Linda has been diving every nook and cranny of Kauai's offshore waters since the mid-1970s, and her knowledge of Kauai marine life is unmatched by anyone in the Hawaii scuba industry - in fact to this day, State and Federal resource experts will often seek her unique input on environmental projects (such as US Fish and Wildlife, Hawaii Dept of Land and Natural Resources, etc). You can expect to get a real marine ecology tour when diving with Bubbles Below - in fact, while you are having the time of your life, you will also be learning something about the marine environment. I dove on the South Shore with Bubbles Below with a couple of friends at the end of May 2009. What a fantastic experience! Luckily, we three were the only guests on the boat that day. We had a great captain (Joe) and divemaster (Travis). They personalized the tour, and during our surface intervals, they took the boat along the coast to interesting sights. They were also both very knowledgeable about the sea life, geology, and topography we encountered. We dove Sheraton Caverns (Kauai's signature dive) and two other sites between Port Allen and Poipu. The turtle encounters were unreal. Joe also guided a monk seal in our direction with the boat, so we caught an underwater glimpse. I highly recommend Bubble Below for your Kauai dive, and in particular recommend Joe and Travis as your dive team. Ask for them! read more

Wife and I did two tank dive, Sheraton Caverns and Harbor ledges. Sheraton was awesome, 20+ turtles; Harbor Ledges was meh if you've dove Hawaii before. Boat CAPT was totally chill but professional, great dude. Dive master was tailored to super beginner groups and a little condescending. During the dive he kept us in a tightknit group that detracted from the experience. I appreciate safety and all, but writing a note to my wife saying to 'follow me please' was a little unnecessary in my opinion. A good bit of waiting around at the bottom as well. We didn't venture far from the buoy line either. After the first few people went up we continued to circle around the buoy line until everyone else needed to go up. Overall professional and safe diving company. I appreciate the experience, but I will try someone else next. read more

Finished up three days of diving with Bubbles Below. Captain Clay and Manny were awesome. Conditions were a bit rough on one of our trips but Clay took us on a short ride to a spot that was easier to dive, was loaded with turtles, and we had a fly by with a friendly white tip shark. Clay knows all of the dive sites and a few where the other boats don't go. Manny knows all about the sea life and is amazing in his ability to find them. They obviously love what they do and demonstrate how much they care for the ocean. We have tried the other operations and found Bubbles Below to be the best. I booked a 2 tank dive and had a blast with Capt Clay and DM Manny. It was rough seas but Clay got us in the water for two great dives at Hale Honu. I had so much fun I booked a second two tank a few days later. Another great day at Ambers Arch and Camp 1. I highly recommend the "chance sneaking up on a napping monk seal encounter". Lol! I won't soon forget the reaction from that angry monk seal!! Definitely will be back to dive with Bubbles Below. We chose Bubbles Below for a couple reasons: they offered on the boat quick refreshers and I liked their website best (of course and the reviews). We had a great time! The crew (of three) were super helpful, friendly, and very accommodating. It was my first dive in about ten years and so I was a bit nervous, but the dive master assigned to my group was patient and reassuring. The two different dives sites we visited were pretty neat and when we saw dolphins or whales from the boat, the captain paused a bit to let us watch. As a surprise, I was gifted cupcakes (it was my birthday) and this personal touch (and them remembering!) made the day even more special. Wow! What can I say? Bubbles Below has the best dive crew I've ever had the pleasure of diving with. My boyfriend had spoke to them ahead of time without my knowledge as he wanted to propose on our Nepali trip. They made everything perfect! Captain Earl backed us under a waterfall along the coast right before we were engaged! And Linda snapped pictures of us the whole time. They really go out of their way to take care of all their divers and make it a fun, enjoyable experience. Something you don't normally think about on a dive trip is the food/snacks, but theirs is worth writing about! We are vegetarian so they brought delicious veggie pizza, quinoa, and Greek salad! YUM (probably the best tasting lunch/dinner we had while on the island). We also did the three tank (day, twilight, night) dive trip which I highly recommend. We got to turn off our lights and see bioluminescence!!!!! Amazing experience.We did the nitrox intro which gave us longer bottom time and left us feeling much better after the dive. All the dives were wonderful. Linda is the most knowledgeable, warm and fun dive master we've ever worked with. She points out the smallest little critters including crabs and nudibraches, but doesn't miss the big stuff like sharks, parrotfish or turtles. I highly recommend Bubbles Below!!!
